I called Nick's Electric to have three ceiling fans installed. Nick's sent two electricians (Nathan and Ritchie) who came half an hour earlier than the quoted arrival estimate. That was good for me. Nathan and Ritchie were both very courteous and professional. They worked quickly to install the fans. There was no problems with installation and very little mess for me to vacuum up after they were done. (There was just a couple bits of styrofoam from unboxing the fans.) Would not recommend this business. They came out this morning to give a quote on troubleshooting and repair for a pair of porch lights. The technician glanced at the lights and switch and quoted me a number that was 250% the amount I eventually paid to have a licensed electrician do the job. Couple red flags here: 1. He didn't physically touch the switch or the lights before giving me the quote. Didn't try to troubleshoot or test the wiring. He only checked the breaker box after I suggested it. 2. He didn't give me any choices of what to get done. He immediately recommended getting the most expensive thing and upgrading the light fixtures. The business I eventually went with gave me some choices and the pros and cons of each, and pricing. If you are looking for an electrician in the Riverside area I would recommend you get other quotes, because almost every other business I researched through Yelp quoted me for much less than these guys. read more

Isaac (the technician) arrived prior to our scheduled time which was great. He was nice and seemed easy going. I explained to Isaac exactly what I was looking for (the same as per my back and forth text the day before with Nick) and requested an estimate. Isaac said the estimate is free, but depending on if I use Nick's Electric I may or may not be charged a service fee because he would have to open the outlet prior to providing the estimate. When I asked what determines being charged a service fee, how much would it be and if the estimate is supposed to be free why is a service fee now being brought up regardless if I choose to use Nick's Electric or another electrician he said that Nick would decide that. When I asked in a different manner attempting to get some type of guidelines and details of said service fee he then tried to dominate the conversation by talking over me and told me to just ignore the fee that he brought up. All I wanted to know is what determines if I'll be charged and how much it will be. I was then told I was being difficult and I was getting upset even though he was the one doing the heavy sighing, looking down at the ground, holding his head and going back to trying to dominate the conversation. I asked him to leave at that point. I can understand if there is a service fee to open or outlet, run a test, etc., but that information should be provided beforehand with a fee schedule; not to be told that the amount will be randomly determined not on the basis of what was actually done, but because someone chooses an arbitrary amount. read more

I do not recommend this company for electrical panel upgrade. In Nov 2021, they charged me $4,300 to upgrade my 100 amp panel to a 200 amp panel. As licensed professionals, I expected that the upgrade would be done according to code. It was not. About 2 weeks after the upgrade, the Riverside Public Utilities responded to an error code in my meter, and had to replace the meter. A few days later, I was issued with a code violation for having a panel upgrade done without a permit. Nick's Electric did not pull a permit for the work, nor discuss the need for one with me prior to doing the work. So, I retroactively applied for a permit (total cost $296). However, when the City inspector came to review the panel that had already been installed, he noted that there were MAJOR errors with the installation. Nick's Electric neglected to upgrade the service entrance conductors so they would be sized for a 200 amp panel, the panel was not grounded and would require the installation of a grounding rod, and they neglected to bond the gas and water pipes. There were other issues as well (see the attached Correction Notice). So, while the new panel was a 200 amp unit, the wiring entering the unit was still sized for a 100 amp panel. When I presented the correction notice to the company, the owner (Nick) said the corrections would cost an additional $1,900!! When I complained, he immediately adjusted his price to $700. While I believe that I should not have had to pay for the corrections, I felt compelled to pay because otherwise the owner said that he would not do the corrections. What annoys me most about my experience with this company is that as licensed professionals with the California State Licensing Board, even working without a permit, they should have known what the code was, and ensured that my house was safe after the upgrade. A competent electrician would have upgraded the service entrance conductors, ensured that the panel was properly grounded, and that gas and water pipes were properly bonded. A similar level of poor quality panel upgrade work was reported by Linda S. on 10/2/2019, so my experience is not the first. read more
