My parents have been going on and on about the chicken they tried here and that they wanted to get me some while I was in town. They tried the chicken Vesuvius (I believe) and really enjoyed it, so they thought they'd try the fried chicken with me so we could have an easy dinner during the holidays. We each ordered the four piece chicken dinner with different sides to go. I picked the mac n cheese, the garlic bread, and the sweet potato waffle fries. First - the sides. The macaroni and cheese was pretty good. The right amount of cheesy and creamy, but the portion was small (pretty much expected when you get to choose three, but I should've chosen this one twice). The garlic bread tasted like burnt toast. A little buttery but the garlic wasn't really present so that was a bummer. Finally, the sweet potato waffle fries were soggy. This is always a risk when you get them for take out, but I was hopefully just the same. The chicken - it tasted like crunchy chicken. It was fried, but there was no seasoning or flavor in the chicken. It just tasted crunchy. Definitely a big let down. I asked my parents for clarification on their previous experience and they also said this was a big let down for them, and they also wouldn't give it more than two stars, although they'd add a third for the other kind of chicken. From the food to the service everything was top notch! We split the full slab dinner and Greek Rotisserie chicken. Both were incredible! Love all the sides they came with too! Stopped in and got a steak burrito and drove up to Oswego for a 12 hour shift. After about an hour I started to eat it and it was downright nasty! The steak was dry and didn't even taste like steak, there was a slight crunch to it. The beans seemed like they were spoiled to. I couldn't eat the whole thing and threw out at least half of it. I'll just get good phone service or regular service if walk in I had it delivered it was there within the time frame no problems at all. called in a half slab of ribs three side choices french fries barbecue baked beans and garlic bread. also a pepper and egg sandwich with an order of french fries. said it would be there within 45 minutes to an hour it was. tasted good like the ribs always do fries might have been a little bit more fresher but that was okay. Frequent fliers for years because this place has everything anyone could want. I usually want the same tasty things from here but am trying more on the menu. Within the whole family we have tried quite a few things from pork sandwiches, gyros, ribeye steak sandwiches, chicken parm sandwich, to shrimp dinners and never had a bad experience. We always have friendly service inside or the drive thru. It's quick, easy, hot, and good food. The cream of chicken rice soup is the best thing on the menu not sure if it's the thickness that hits the spot, but it's so good. Also order the fries well done, yum. read more

The mgr Izzy is not good, watch out! Watch out for the Homer Glen restaurant. The rest of Nick's places may be fine. I give big tips. I have no proof to back this up, but I believe Izzy is dishonest. I'll leave it at that because I don't have proof of what I strongly believe. If I was Nick Andricopulos, I would keep an eye on Homer Glen. I have literally been going there since they opened. I moved here in 1985. I will never go there again because of the verbal abuse and otherwise I received from the so called mgr there Izzy. She told me I was not allowed to contact Nick. She said she would contact him instead. Of course she didn't. Reason for my comments here. Good Luck Nick. You have a good restaurant my opinion. I suggest you get more involved with your people. Think about, they are the face of your restaurant. A bad mgr is not acceptable. People think the mgr reflects the place. I greatly admire entrepreneurs as yourself. They are hero's to me. After living very close to this place for years, and never going in... I finally gave this awkward little place a chance. Why I've never tried this place was always a mix of a. It's dirty looking b. It's a former burger king c. Intangible feeling Today solidified my concerns. Stopped in at 11:30am. The cashier was an odd looking woman with black and white died hair. Think skunk mixed with a hint of rudeness. When I asked about the menu, she snapped back something like "our menu has too many options". After being served my food, she barked at me "No dining in! Per the state of Illinois!" The funny thing is that I wasn't planning on staying. I guess sitting in a chair while waiting 4 minutes for my $9 meatball sub was an invitation for her to yell at me. We were exhausted from going to Bengstons pumpkin patch and wanted to find a restaurant nearby... we ordered and got our food in a relatively short amount of time. The food was not bad. Nobody gave us bbq sauce and when we were leaving I saw some occupied tables had it. Nonetheless, we survived but the atmosphere was dirty. The high chair was kind of sticky and gross. We wiped it down, again we survived, it just would've been nice if it was cleaner. It'd be a cute place If they cleaned the everything regularly. Used the drive-thru on July 7th, and the lady who gave us our food was not wearing a mask or gloves, and I could see through the window that NONE of the employees were. These are people that serve you your food! When we asked about it, we just received a blank look. Sent an email to the company, but haven't received a reply. Take-out on a Saturday! My mom suggested Nick's, as we all felt like getting something different from our usual go-to's and the end result was BBQ of one sort or another. I must mention though that Nick's has probably over 100 different things on the menu, everything from BBQ to greek chicken dinners to salads to milkshakes. I ordered everyone's food conveniently online. The order was ready when my Mom went to pick it up and there were no logistical issues which can happen with online ordering and order accuracy, no issues there, though. I got a beef brisket dinner and my parents split a full rack of ribs and a brisket sandwich. Our sides were corn, mac & cheese, pasta salad and fries. I thought the brisket was just OK. It seemed a little chewy and/or rubbery to me, which is usually an indicator of inferior meat quality, but it didn't taste that bad and I was extremely hungry. I liked the corn cobbette, thought the pasta salad was pretty basic and wished the mac and cheese was a little hotter in terms of temperature. My folks agreed about the brisket but they said the ribs were better, but still not exceptional. We both agreed that while it wasn't bad, it really wasn't anything special, either. Especially for the ribs being nearly $20, and my dinner about $10. If you want some REALLY exceptional BBQ, make the drive out to Hog Wild in Midlothian. If my memory serves me right, I had a better meal dining inside at the Nick's in Palos. read more
