"Satisfaction guaranteed" is an assurance one seldom hears, these days. My front porch had chronic water issues for years and though I've attempted to fix it twice, the leaking had never been resolved. Nick the Tile Man and Sal worked on my porch this fall with detail and efficiency. What's more, they were timely, responsive, communicative, congenial, knowledgeable, and all around fantastic to work with. I highly recommend them! read more

I really wish there was a way to give a six star review here. I think most of us have negative experiences to report regarding home improvement jobs. Well, this is certainly not one of them. Everyone we dealt with couldn't have been nicer or more professional. Special kudos to Joseph and Manny as they were here doing the work. They showed up on time and took obvious pride in their work. They replaced our shower stall floor and it was done flawlessly. Sadly it seems rare these days to find individuals who are skilled, professional and trustworthy. All I can say is that if you have any kind of tiling job, you will not be able to find a better service than this. Highly recommended. read more

Thoughtful meticulous work done. We had backsplash tile installed with a decorative border and medallions in the kitchen. Nick and the crew protected my polished granite countertops during the entire job. We also had natural stone tiles installed around an electric fireplace in our dining room. The team is experienced and skilled. We will hire them again without hesitation for our next tile job! NICK IS THE (tile) MAN! read more

He saved my bathroom! After a terrible experience with a contractor in September and October, I called Nick for an estimate to fix the awful grout work that the contractor had done. The grout was uneven, discolored, cracking after a few days, etc. The tiles were cut poorly and also not installed properly. I had spent enough money on renovating my bathroom and didn't want to start over from scratch. I knew that I couldn't change the tiles, but I could at least try to fix the grout. Nick gave me a great price for removing and then replacing all of the grout and caulking. Nick and his team showed up on time every day, kept the place clean, finished on schedule, and considering what they had to deal with, they did a great job. I'm really happy with how the new grout looks! read more

I reached out to Nick after a leak in a shower in my house that a plumber said was due to faulty tile grout. He gave me a great price quote and scheduled me for a week later. Joseph came to re-grout my tile and did a fantastic job. It looks brand new and I would definitely recommend them again! read more

I could not be happier with the work these guys did. We needed an emergency total redo of our shower floor in our coop apartment in queens. The guys were punctual, thorough and kind. Job involved demo of complete shower floor, having plumber come in to do new drains and liner and the guys did the rest. They were careful and were able to save me a couple of thousand dollars by rehanging my frameless shower pass through doors and frame. Nick and grandson heir to the business Joey and coworker Manny were great. Use this company. You will not be sorry for sure. read more

Nick replaced tiles in my bathroom and did an amazing job. He and his team dealt with uneven original floor and walls, pouring new subflooring and patching walls before tiling. Excellent job, fair price and no unpleasant surprises. The best! read more

Nick the Tileman review Nick The Tileman is a polite and hard working gentleman who may be able to handle the installation of vinyl planks or (maybe) a backsplash, but cannot be trusted with anything more "complicated" than that. Nick was hired to remove old flooring and install Italian porcelain tiles of excellent quality in my basement. On our first contact, Nick dedicated 30 minutes to go over the process and politely answer all of my questions. I was extremely clear about the type of tiles (Italian Porcelain) I had purchased as well my expectations as far as quality of the work, and Nick expressed confidence that he could handle the job with excellence and care for the details. Nick is a respectful man, and I was in peace when I handled him the keys to my home. As far as respect for my belongings, I am positive I made the right judgement. Unfortunately, he could not handle the job and the quality of the work he delivered is mediocre, as you can see in these images. He blamed it on the quality of the tiles (long planks of Italian porcelain, exactly the ones I described on our first conversation). Nick and his workers disagreed whether a mud job was necessary or not. He opted for proceeding without it. The tiles were UNLEVELED all around the unit. The spacing between the tiles is FAR FROM UNIFORM. He left some areas in the middle of a room WITHOUT GROUT. The pattern in which he installed the tiles was UNEVEN. Some tiles were CHIPPED and horribly PAINTED, which made them even worse. The pictures speak for themselves. Even though I was very unsatisfied, I was ready to accept the poor job as it was (not much could be at this point) and only asked Nick to fix a small area which was the most terrifying to look at. He said he would step outside to check on the availability of one of his workers and never came back. I still owed a very small balance of materials he had purchased for the installation and tried to call him on the subsequent days, however, Nick blocked my number. This is my experience with Nick The Tileman. Look at the pictures and take your own conclusions. I deeply regret having trusted him with this job and recommending him to my family. He over promised, under delivered--and WALKED OFF without completing the job. read more

Tile came out very well. I really like these guys they are very straight forward I will use them again.

They are great tilers, old school family run business. I manage a multi-million dollar house and they completed the job up to my high and unrealistic expectations. Also, reasonable priced, super friendly. Will use again read more

Nick the Tile Man was very professional and thorough from the very start. He showed up promptly to the house to look at the job and emailed me the quote the exact same day. He was booked up but let us know if a slot opened up he would start the job sooner. And he did just that! I really appreciated how well he communicated with us. He made us feel very comfortable and secure that the job would be finished in 3 days. He and his workers moved efficiently and there were no problems at all. They were amazing and I would highly recommend them! My kitchen floor and backsplash looks amazing!!! read more

I needed to lay down new tile in my kitchen and shower floor as the original job was terrible. The tiles were coming loose and cracking. I found Nick the Tile Man on Yelp and gave him a call based on his positive reviews. From the very beginning he was responsive and upfront about timing and costs. I explained my issue and the next weekend he came out to provide an estimate. I waited for over a month for Nick and his team to start the job (I figured if you have to wait for 6 weeks then he must be good!). I will say that Nick isn't the person if you're looking for an average job at the lowest price possible. If you want quality work, attention to detail, and someone that will stand behind his work, then Nick is your guy. His prices are reasonable for the quality of work and he offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee. He's been in business for many years and values his reputation. We wanted a herringbone pattern for the kitchen which requires a lot more time and skill to lay down. Nick and his team took their time and did a great job not only laying down the new tile, but also removing the old tile (which was a tough job) without damaging any of the cabinets. He's a skilled tile specialist running an honest business, which isn't easy to find these days. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the quality of work and I will use Nick again in the future. read more

Nick did a terrific job redesigning the tile work and installing new tiles in my bathtub. My bathtub used to have a shelf adjoining the shower wall that was a few inches above the tub. It would stay wet and the caulk would mildew over the course of time. Nick suggested we retile to raise the shelf up by 30 inches to avoid all the water. In the process of raising the shelf Nick also made the tiles a uniform size whereas previously I had one row toward the bottom that were smaller. Nick regrouted the tile expertly. The shower looks great and I am totally satisfied. In addition to doing great work, Nick is thoughtful about working within a budget. He gave me a few options at different price points. read more

I hired Nick the Tile Man to redo the kitchen floor tiles that was poorly laid by a previous general contractor.  I figured since I'm hiring specifically a tile contractor, this company would know what they were doing.   6 months later, the grout started to come out and the tiles were loose again.  In fact, when I'm walking directly over the tiles, you can hear that it's hollow underneath.  I immediately called the guy who installed the tiles and he promised that he would fix it.  After scheduling a date, he never showed up or answered my phone calls or text messages. I then called Nick, the owner of Nick the Tile Man company.  After 2 months of chasing him down with phone calls and text messages, he finally came to my apartment to look at the work.  He blamed this work squarely on his subcontractor.  So he basically subcontracted the work out to a non-licensed contractor.  Now this is ILLEGAL.  In fact, what ended up happening was that I paid more for this service since I had to pay both the subcontractor and Nick the Tile Man.   However instead of making it right, he tried to take advantage of me again.  He wanted to charge me to patch up the poor work by removing the grout and caulking the tiles together - essentially gluing them. Now there are two major problems here.  One, everyone who knows basic physics, knows that if it's hollow underneath the tiles, gluing the tiles above the space would only mask the problem.  I even had 4 other professional tilers said that I would need to completely start over and redo the tile work for it to be done correctly.  If I did it Nick's way, I would have deal with loose and even broken tiles later.  Second of all, why are you charging me to redo the work that you didn't do correctly (and illegally) in the first place?   Do yourself a favor, please don't hire this dishonest, money hungry man.  He doesn't deserve your business. read more

I needed Nick and his crew to fix a bad tile job in a basement shower. They killed it. Tile look good. The shower is good as new. His crew, Jerry and Joe, two of the nicest guys you could ever want doing work in your home. Professional would be an understatement. Those two were great at every phase of the project. Nick was there every day to make sure I understood what was going to happen. I wish I had had these guys from the start. I would have saved a lot of time. Look. Is Nick the cheapest guy? No. But it true what they say, you get what you pay for. We did a lot of work in our house, so I can tell you with the upmost confidence, you'll be doing yourself a disservice by trying to cut corners. You need tile work. I bought a new place recently and found a not so nice surprise that my master bedrooms shower was leaking water and causing damage to my ceiling downstairs. Nick and Jerry came over, accurately diagnosed the issue, and have me a reasonable quote to repair the work. In the end they replaced my entire shower floor. I got a new pan, mud job, tiles, threshhold etc. Nick even helped me find tiles that would look great since the old ones were discontinued. I am extremely happy with the job and my shower looks better than it did when we started. Nick and Jerry were punctual, professional, and trustworthy. They took timr to explain to me what was going on throughout the process and I was happy to have people around who were patient and able to teach me a thing or two. Now I have to do another shower and there is no question - I booked Nick and am confident I will get the best. read more

I contacted Nick to look at repairing 4 bathrooms, in which the tiles were broken to upgrade all the shower bodies, spout, etc. He came out and gave me a proposal, the proposal was very well priced. I used Nick and his team to do two bathrooms with extensive tile work. Both bathrooms were gut renovations and the tile went floor to ceiling in each. The job came out great! Nick quoted me a fair price and then performed at the highest level. The first bathroom had an intricate floor layout and subway tile walls throughout. The second bathroom had floor tiles mounted on mats but with small pieces that often fell out of the matting and a double border. The wall tiles went all the way to the ceiling too. In both cases, the guys went all out to make things perfect. Small angle cuts on the first floor came out beautifully and on the second, they kept track of all the little pieces with a teacup! And in the end, all the pieces got in the right spots. I'm happy to recommend Nick to anyone who wants his job done right! read more

I contacted Nick in the early part of November to inquire about replacing a mosaic tile backsplash in my kitchen. Nick was very responsive and promised to get someone out to me to estimate the job within the next few days. I was contacted the next day by Steve and he came over as promised and evaluated the job. I was happy with the estimate provided. Steve and his partner arrived as scheduled on the day promised and immediately began working on the project. They were both very courteous and knowledgeable and provided additional information when requested. They worked throughout the day and well into the evening on day 1. On day 2 they arrived as promised and again immediately began to work. I requested a recommendation on moving an electrical box and Steve had an electrician come over and evaluate the job for me as well. Again they worked non-stop and well into the evening insuring that the job was completed thoroughly. At the end of the day, the job turned out beautifully and I couldn't be more happy with the quality, workmanship and professionalism of this team. read more
