I came to get my acrylics removed and the technician ripped two of my nails off (I could have done that if that's what I wanted) while also repetitively telling me that my nails were hard to take off... acrylic nails are taken off every day at the salon and I do not want to be made to feel like an inconvenience for a service I'm paying for. read more

I love Kathy so much I was hooked on shellac for awhile, but tbh I got a finger nail infection 3 times ! I'm not sure if it's because of hang nails or just bad skin but 3 different occasions (only 2 from here! I left and within 1 day I had a blood blister or puss in the corner of my finger My finger also bled leaving here once because a piece of skin was ripped off thinking it was dead skin during the manicure part but it was not.. Horrible! If you enjoy being snapped at, having less than average quality and no customer service THIS is the place for you. I spent $67 ( and add another $10 for tip) on a bio gel manicure only to have 1 nail break within 3 days. The majority of my nails were not filled correctly and when I attempted to explain (and complain) the woman told me 'i remember you' but was unable to find me in her book. By the time she located me (confirming I indeed had an appointment 3 days earlier) a long line up developed behind me. She then told me she could not fit me in for at least 30 minutes (even though for the last 10 minutes 2 manicurists sat empty). In short this location of NON is more than happy to take your money and give terrible customer service. If you are a newbie (in reference to having acrylic manicures) I recommend avoiding this place. I had a great experience here today I got a pedicure and gel refill on my nails. The staff were friendly and did a great job. I noticed them cleaning equipment and wearing gloves for pedicures. The salon was clean and decorated nicely. The only thing that was off was the staff whispering to each other about other staff members in a different language when the other staff members would go to the back. Didn't really bother me but I know that could make others uncomfortable. I will be using this salon from now on. read more

The quality of service has declined since I first started going there. The last time I went, I got a really lousy manicure. It just felt rushed and not cared for. I'm going to be more selective about nail salons in the future and not just rely on the ones close to me. read more

I used to love this place. Normally go 3 plus times a summer and sporadically through the winter. Went in asking for one nail to be to be repaired which they said they couldn't do. Manicurist proceeded to cut and make red and bleed three fingers around the cuticle. Previous visit another person did the same. The colour didn't show up the way it did in the bottle. After one nail I said I didn't like it and asked if it could be changed. Manicurist stated over and over no. No it looks good. All was said and done it looks terrible I have three cut fingers very sore. Had to ask her to put alcohol on the cut areas to ensure I didn't get an infection. It looks terrible. Super thick because she did three coats trying to darken a colour I hated on, and messy work. Not a good experience. I won't likely be going back to this chain. I was here 3 weeks ago getting my nails done as it was a last minute decision and the usual place I go to was fully booked. I specifically asked (both before and during the appointment) to confirm that they do Bio Sculpture Gel nails and they said yes, but they said they only had the clear gel (other places would have colored gel). The moment the technician took out the white plastic extensions, I sensed something was not right. Those are used for acrylic nails. After gluing on the extension tips, she started scraping my nails as if I was getting acrylic nails. That should not happen. I tried to confirm that I was indeed getting the Bio Sculpture Gel, and she said yes. When she applied the first layer of gel, I saw "Bio Sculpture Gel" on the bottle. But for subsequent layers, she used a different bottle that had no marking on it. Also, it took a lot longer than 60 seconds to cure the gel under UV light (if it was real Bio Sculpture Gel, it would only take 60 seconds per layer). The material on the nails felt very hard and not flexible (it doesn't move with the nail). As time goes by, I saw separation between the top layer and bottom layer. During the appointment, she didn't take care of my cuticles, and there was no hand massage. Today, when I went back to the usual place to re-do my nails (where they use actual Bio Sculpture Gel, UV light, remover, etc.). Instead of 5 minutes, it took 45 minutes just to get the gel off the nails. The real thing should just peel off. I am very concerned that I was being lied to. The price I paid for was for Bio Sculpture Gel. I am pregnant and want to be very careful about what I use on my nails. I have no idea what they put on my nails. Some of the UV gels are being banned by Health Canada for health reasons. I'm scared that they put harmful gel on my nails (to cut costs). For those who want to avoid harmful chemicals or want to get Bio Sculpture Gel nails, this is NOT the place to do it. read more

i got my nails done yesterday here and because i don't live in ottawa and have no way there it was risky anyways due to having to pay to go anywhere else to get the nails fixed if they break. it's been just over 24 hours since i got them done and opening the car door a nail broke off... i don't recommend this place. they make the nails way to thin and very easy to break. read more

First and last time. Went in expecting shellac fake nails and they started just painting them. When I brought it up, they told me I never asked or paid for fake nails. (They made me pay as soon as I walked in). When I asked if I could just pay for the fake now and continue with the manicure. She then said no because she didn't "feel like" opening up the cash. I obviously wasn't impressed, so I asked for a full refund so I could leave. They only gave me half back because I had already received the manicure part. While all this is happening, two other employees are yelling at me in their own language. It was all extremely unprofessional. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

I like going here because it's close to work and they are fast. They generally always have an opening and i can call to make an appointment just a few hours before which is really convenient. I got acrylic nails done and a pedicure, the woman who did my pedicure did a good job but she didn't give a leg massage which was disappointing as this is one of my favourite things and the acrylic nails were beautiful. Overall good place to go if you don't want to break the bank getting your nails done. read more

was very skeptical due to some of the reviews, but its very close to my house, not TOO expensive, and I needed new nails so I made a last minute appointment. i wanted acrylics w shellac, and was actually surprised at how well they turned out. the lady (didnt tell me her name) shaped them nicely, not too thick or thin, colour matched what I wanted. read more

I walked in for a pedicure this afternoon, I said hello when I came in and the staff just stared at me with no response...alrighty. So I asked if they had time and they did. The girl pulverized the tops of my feet with her thumbs, I guess massaging, but I'm actually bruised now this evening on the tops of my feet. When I was paying I didn't grab the my change fast enough and the girl grabbed the 5 dollar bill back as if she assumed I was going to leave it as a tip. Super awkward because I actually wasn't going to leave a tip at all and she shouldn't have assumed and just grabbed it. There has been two times I've got to Nice One Nails and been disappointed. The first time I had a Arcyrlic Set done and the paint job was done horribly. With bumps, chips, missed spots and some nail polish on my skin. I went back to have it fixed the next day. Second time I went for gel with shellac polish. Within 3 hours of my appointment the shellac had chipped in places. I went back AGAIN the next day to have it fixed. Now the top coat has taken on some dirty looking film. No matter how many times I wash them it won't come off. It's been less then a week. I've had shellac gel nails from other places that have lasted and looked good for a month. Imagine my disappointment when I have to go somewhere else a week later for a color change. read more
