I know. What's a girl like me doing in a place like this you ask. Since I'm not the handiest girl…read morearound you don't often find me in a hardware store. However I have found myself here twice in the past week. The first time was to try to find pruners that can be used standing. While we were not able to find those, sadly, the owner (I think) and his employee went out of their way to see how they could help me. Then, a few days later, I find myself on a mission to find a certain kind of plant food. I had already checked at Home Depot while buying bird seed, but they had not had it come in for over a year and were not sure when it was coming in. I called Walmart, Loews, and two garden stores in the area too. They did not have any in stock either. On a whim I stopped in here again, asked the employee if they had it, he took me to the aisle and there it was!! I scooped up the two boxes they had. This store looks small from the outside, but it is quite large once inside. It is next to and connected to the Schuele Paint Store, more or else on the corner of Summer and Main. Rather than travel to the suburbs, I will go here first now, they are helpful, pleasant, local and easy to get to.

This is probably the smallest Ace in the area. Room to move is limited and the aisles are narrow…read more It is my place to go to when I need a little advice for my handy work. The people are friendly and know what they are talking about. Their expertise is great.

My fiancé & I usually only come here when something is on sale…read more This time, it was Tarps. Unfortunately, they sold out because it was such a great deal. Every time I come here , I find the cutest little things ,that I end up spending so much money on. They have good things on clearance all the time, or just things on sale in big bins in the front of the store. They have a good selection of tools, and at home necessities (or just "wants") for the size of store they are. It's pretty small ,especially when compared to Home Depot, but, it has things you need in a hurry. You'll have to go in & check it out yourself. It's too hard for me to explain everything they have, I mostly pay attention to the fun stuff, that I want. Lol

I'm not a fan of hardware stores. I must admit I'm in the category of "technically and/or…read moremechanically challenged female" - I only venture into hardware stores out of dire need. I've picked up on some lingo over the years watching the tool-time sitcom, and I've stocked my tool box with orange juice and vodka, in case there's an emergency at home. You know the kind I'm talkin about? With that being drunk, I mean said, this smaller size hardware store didn't frighten me. I was able to find a few items rather quickly without having to walk miles of aisles, as I was not looking for a workout. Just some tools and gadgets. I found some nifty bungee cords set for $3.99, an air pump for my bike tires for $7.99 and oil lubricant for my bike chain and some squeaky window and doors in my house for $3.99. I even found - guess what? A philips end with a shank. Doesn't that sound fancy? How do you like that, I'm showing off now. What I couldn't find I asked the cashier and he pointed me in the right direction. I like it when there are actual people around to ask for where an item is or suggest what I might prefer or need for the type of mechanical, plumbing or electrical issue that's causing some mental issue. Like stress. Like low self esteem. Because I hate having home problems that I cannot fix myself or understand what the heck is going on. And I dread home problems which will be costing me plenty to get a professional over to fix. But this was a rather therapeutic experience for me taking my hardware phobia into account. I'll be back to shopping here again. but truly, a screwdriver to me is made of orange juice, vodka

I needed storm doors, I have time at home (; ]) so I thought it was the prefect time to purchase…read moreand have them installed. I connected with the area home stores, checked prices of doors, read reviews, asked about installation fees... they want to send someone out to the house to give a quote on installation costs. Home advisor estimated the installation at $200 +... Valu is the only place that has a flat rate for a typical install ($129), so I went to the store to size up the doors. (See what I did there) I was assisted by the store manager, Brett, who was very patient and answered my questions. He helped me choose the doors that would work, wrote up the order, even immediately emailed the installation company regarding modifying a door length. As I was arriving home after the purchase, my phone was already ringing with the answer to the email question. I was impressed with the customer care provided. Only 4 stars because there's not a large selection, they didn't have the sizes I needed on the sale doors and the installation is 4-6 weeks away... maybe they could contract an additional installatuon company with this much work to make the wait that long.

Great store that has everything a passionate man needs: toilet bowls, sinks, wrenches, nuts,…read morecarpets, tables, hangers and so on. This is a smaller chain with about 40 locations throughout Western NY and Pennsylvania so you can feel good that you're not shopping at a huge chain. And their prices are great! I got a nice laptop desk for $65 tax included here, took me a couple hours to assemble (maybe I'm not as much of a passionate man warrior as I'd like to think) and my girlfriend had to help, but that's not the store's fault. This place has the best staff. I always feel so lost in these big hardware stores, but every time I've walked in here a staff member will come up and ask me if I need help and they've helped me each time! Will be back here for more of my manly needs.
