This is an honest, recent review of a local HVAC/Plumbing company . We want to support local…read morebusinesses if possible. That being said, our 1st experience with this local business didn't go very well. We initially contacted them to have a small valve replaced at our boiler as it was dripping. I asked for an estimate of the price upfront, and was informed without seeing it, they were unable to provide that. I also sent a picture of the valve that was leaking and still no estimate. When they arrived, they were cordial and professional. After taking a quick look at the valve, they also decided to replace the check valve adjacent to the dripping valve, even though it seemed to be functioning perfectly. They proceeded to complete the work and were essentially leaving the driveway in approx. 30 minutes. During our conversation with them, we asked them to stop at the front door before they left. They basically said "we will write up a slip and it will be mailed to you" We assumed that at the very least we would get a paper receipt of what was done before they left. Well, they left without giving us a price, a work order, a receipt, anything. I had to call the office and asked what the total bill would be. Later that day they got back to me and quite honestly, I almost fell off the chair. $540.00 for less than 30 minutes and a simple shutoff valve installation. I was informed that $212.00 was their minimum just to come out to a home. We were never told any of this up front even though I asked. They indicated that the valves (one of which was not required, but "suggested") cost them over $200.00. This may be true, but we were able to easily find the replacement valves in both HD and Amazon for $65.00, for BOTH valves. Since we had originally sent them pictures of the valve to be replaced, they knew beforehand what they planned to use as a new valve, but never informed us that it was far more expensive than what a typically valve would be. The valves seem to be overkill for such a simple replacement, but we as the customer had no opportunity to not have them install it should we have decided that. The installation seems professional, but the price was sky high for such a simple job. Being a local resident, we were assuming in good faith to build relationships with local businesses, but that is obviously not the case. Its clear to us they are driven solely by money, not customer relationships. Also, there is no indication from anyone what the warranty is on the work performed, its all just a total mystery working with this company. Since then, we reached out to (2) separate contractors who indicated there is nothing at all unusual or difficult about this routine job and they confirmed (what we had researched before we ever contacted Sarette), which is that the absolute most this should have cost was $250-$300. Sarette installed the valves they chose, but gave the customer no option, no opportunity / choice to refuse this installation if we wanted to. The installers were fine, but whomever is responsible for the final cost should understand that you may have gotten the bill paid this go-around, you have lost what would have been a loyal and repeat customer going forward. An expensive lesson for sure, but a valuable lesson all the same, that not all businesses see value in their customers, just the bottom line. We understand its a business, but frankly we felt taken advantage of by this company and would not use, nor recommend their services again. A very frustrating & disappointing experience.

Once the sewer maps were provided, they ultimately found the problem--something that was a tremendous help in moving toward a real solution. You have two truly outstanding employees who delivered service far above and beyond expectations. This was a very stressful moment for me, and they handled everything in a way that made me feel safe, comfortable, and confident in their ability to find a solution. They respond very quickly when needed to, and they have professional and knowledgeable team members. We recently had Dennis and his crew dig a new well at our house. Of course there is a lot of unknown info that we wanted to know (i.e., water flow rate), so we went into this with a fair amount of doubt. I knew it wouldn't be his fault if Dennis couldn't locate a good source of water. But he did! He took us from 4 gpm to 10 gpm. We are in Florida right now but I can't wait to get home to see our faucets blasting water out! This will also help a lot with our 21-zone irrigation system. I'm writing this review after working with Skillings for nearly five years at my home in MA. I have…read morea point well with a jet pump, and because there are relatively few companies experienced with these systems, I trusted Skillings as the experts. Unfortunately, that trust ultimately cost me several thousand dollars. Over the years, I had repeated issues with my pump. What started as a rebuild eventually turned into two more rebuilds. Looking back, I could have replaced the pump multiple times for what I spent trying to repair it. The biggest issue came when Skillings installed a filtration system. Someone came out, evaluated my setup, and quoted approximately $1,000 for the work. The system they installed was not appropriate for my application. For nearly a year, I dealt with ongoing sediment and filtration problems. The system failed to properly remove sediment, contributed to another pump failure, and allowed sediment into my irrigation system, ultimately causing several thousand dollars in damage. I didn't write this review after one bad experience, and I didn't write it after two, either. I continued working with Skillings for years, gave them feedback, and gave them multiple opportunities to address the problems. It wasn't until I finally hired a competent irrigation specialist and pump specialist who properly evaluated my system and installed the correct equipment that I realized just how badly my system had been handled. I understand how damaging a review like this can be to a company, and I don't write it lightly. But after years of service calls, repeated pump failures, wasted time, and several thousand dollars in unnecessary costs and damage, I feel obligated to share my experience. I trusted Skillings because I believed they were the experts, and unfortunately, that trust turned into a very expensive lesson.

High Ground Service Pros in Milford, NH, aka Sanford Temperature control, did a terrific job in replacing my old Lennox furnace back in March of 2024, so I called them on Friday, 7/3/26 for an estimate appointment. That culminated in their estimator/sales rep Zach arriving, as scheduled, on Monday 7/6/26. Zach proved to be exceptionally knowledgeable & courteous as he evaluated all the variables that would impact the difficulty of installing a new system, and he readily answered all my questions. He provided a very competitive estimate for installing my preferred, high quality Rheem brand system to replace the old Lennox system--an estimate I readily accepted. The installation was scheduled for Friday 7/10/26. That's when the HVAC installation techs Kyle and Jason arrived early to get the job done. They proved to be real pros who completed the job with meticulous precision and attention to detail, leaving me confident that I would not have to take advantage of High Ground Service Pro's remarkable Lifetime Workmanship Guarantee. In summary, I STILL recommend High Ground Service Pros, aka Sanford. Almost a month ago I called just before a heat wave to report that my central AC was not working. They sent a tech the next day. After an hour's work he told me that he could not fix the AC because he did not have the necessary equipment. Huh? They sent a tech to fix the AC and didn't send him with the right equipment to fix an AC? Then he said he would "try to come back tomorrow" with the right equipment. Tomorrow came, and he didn't. So I called High Ground and was told that the appointment had been set up for a full week from that day. How did "tomorrow" turn into the end of next week? Anyway, the heat wave came and went and I did not have AC. A few techs finally showed up at the end of the next week with the equipment they said they needed and worked for an hour. Then they told me they would have to order a part and charged me a deposit of $900.00. The AC still didn't work without that part. Another heat wave came and went with no AC. I called again and asked if the ordered part had come in. I was told that the tech who worked on the AC was on vacation and would not be back until the following week. At that time they would review the account and find out what was going on with the part and the service to install it. What the... Why did he have to be present to find out what was going on with the part? Why didn't High Ground know whether or not the part came in and assign another tech while the first one was on vacation? By the time he returns, I will have gone without AC for over 3 weeks since I first reported the problem. Totally unacceptable. Do not do business with this incompetent outfit. They don't know what they're doing.
