Efficiency Is Winning…read more I had a positive experience at this Social Security office, especially considering the reputation these offices sometimes get. I live in Downtown San Diego but I needed an appointment within 2 weeks. Q: How long did it take to make the appointment? A: The phone call to reschedule the appointment took about 45 minutes, which honestly was the least efficient part of the process. This could definitely be improved. Q: Was parking difficult? A: Not at all. Parking was easy and convenient when I arrived. Q: Did they take walk-ins? A: Yes. The security guard asked whether I had an appointment or was a walk-in. When I arrived around 10:30 a.m. on a Friday, there was only one person waiting for walk-in services. By the time I left, there were about seven people waiting, so it definitely became busier closer to 11:30 a.m. I don't know the wait time for walk-ins, though. TIP: The first seatingrow closest to the kiosk is the waiting row/line for walk-ins Q: Were you seen on time? A: Yes, actually earlier than my appointment time because I arrived early. That was impressive. Q: What was the office environment like? A: The office was clean, organized, and calm. Even the bathrooms were clean. Q: How was the staff? A: Excellent. The security guard was firm but personable and maintained order without making the environment uncomfortable. I was helped at Window 6, and although I unfortunately didn't get the gentleman's name, he was , thorough and professional without judgment. Q: What was your appointment for? A: I was submitting documentation related to conservatorship and was also able to get a copy of a benefits verification letter during the same visit. TIP: be clear on your appointment description because that will determine how much you can get done in one appointment. Q: How long did the actual appointment take? A: About 30 minutes total, and it moved quickly because I brought all the required documentation with me. Q: Was check-in easy? A: Yes. There is a self check-in kiosk, and you may also receive a QR code by text. I used the kiosk without any issues. Just make sure you have your Social Security number available. Overall, I would recommend this location. I need an appointment in San Diego within 2 weeks and this was the only location that was available The actual in-office process was efficient, organized, and much smoother than expected. My biggest recommendation would be: bring all your documents and mid morning appointments may be best. Parking lot was full at 11:35 a.m. "Efficiency matters when people are navigating important life situations."

They only allowed people with appointments inside, and if you didn't have one, they simply had you take a photo of their phone number to schedule an appointment. We arrived at 8:50 a.m., received our ticket at 8:54 a.m., were called to the window by 8:58 a.m., and were completely finished by 9:15 a.m. The appointment felt a little rushed only because the representative had another appointment right at 9:15, but everything we needed was still taken care of. I went in expecting to lose my entire day and wait for hours, but it turned out to be a really efficient and positive experience.

Dear Office, I'm…read morehappy to help you fill your day with actual work. For anyone who needs it, their actual phone number is 888-306-9878. The short "security guard" is a complete jerk, clearly enjoying the tiny bit of power his "uniform" gives him. He seems to wake up excited only to talk down to people in a condescending way, likely with nothing more than a high school diploma to his name. He gives out the number 800-772-1213 just to brush people off, even though the actual office number is 888-306-9878. When you call the 800 number, and wait 2-3 hours, they tell you that you can schedule an appointment at the office. What a joke. The real issue isn't that an appointment is required. It's the rude attitude and the misleading or nonexistent information. On top of that, taxpayers fund this facility, which in practice seems to mean employees finding excuses to do nothing, taking two-hour lunches, and avoiding actual work. The place is literally empty, yet they still refuse to help or even giving a proper information. And no, this is not a statewide issue. It's specific to this office. I drove 15 minutes to another location where the staff were polite and allowed people to come in and ask questions even though the office was not empty like this "hangout facility".

I walked in and waited 2.5 hours apparently just to "make an appointment" to come back. The appointment was 3 weeks after I initially went in. I had something come up and couldn't make the appointment- there was no feasible way to change it. It's 2025, there should be a booking website or something. I drove to the location, spent $6 on parking and waited almost 3 hours, just to have someone tell me to come back in 3 weeks of which I now have missed and don't know the best way to start this whole process over again. I'm a born citizen and just want to get my SS card replaced and it wouldn't let me do it online. Absolutely awful!

I haven't had the pleasure of visiting any SSA building before today, but it reminded me of mini DMV, with the lobby of chairs, a kiosk, and monitor screens displaying next in line lottery numbers. Now serving #### at window #. Making the appointment was easy, however a 120+ minute phone hold time needs improvement. I called in to request duplicate paperwork and left the phone on speaker to run errands while waiting in the hold queue. Two...hours...later...a friendly voice greeted me and was very helpful and thorough with answering questions. While setting an SSA appointment the rep discovered an error and determined the root cause. Since their system had my phone and email info, I received reminders and information including an advance check-in weblink for when we arrived. I followed the link instructions and promptly received my ticket number before we got out of the car. There were a couple of people inside the lobby among the rows of seats towards the right when entering. The information TV screens and kiosk were to the left. Office SSA reps worked behind glass and each space provided two chairs with partitions separating customers for semi-privacy. We spent less than 5 minutes in the lobby after checking in online from the parking lot. Our SSA rep was friendly and helpful, answering questions and providing reasonable expectations of next steps after concluding the appointment in roughly 30 minutes to resolve why we needed to stop by in person. If you have an online account. I'd highly recommend taking that route, but if you must go the SSA office, be ready to endure the steps for making an appointment and be prepared with all necessary documents.

They do not honor your appointment time, it's more like you're on a priority list but they'll get to you when they get to you. But I'm sure if we didn't make it on time for when they call on us it's a problem, but whenever they are to blame, it's just "understaffed" or "too busy" "sorry". Nah, they need to be held accountable & set up a better schedule system to help people get seen.

Please return my missing income from last year as I have not recovered any from the fraud payee that has been closed permanently under the care of Carolyn Housman and CA Senior Adult Services Don Myers who couldn't understand I fired him for so many years before all the pains expressed through every neglected call with SSI before I was evicted from them defaulting and caused me to lose all of my property, home, family, supplies, tools, clothing, artwork, all promised to be recovered by SDPD and property who also hung up on me with my disability that needs acomodation sometimes even costing me 50% of my paychecks to get assistance when I am well. SSI leaves me less than $300 a month after my humiliating rent amount of $1000 at the very top of what I will sacrifice for a roof over my head after 100% of my money has been on rent and trying to recover lost tools and supplies. I still need towels, heat as reaquired by CA LAW in a rental- I can't afford with default and forcing me to continue reporting SSI left me in my car screaming for help and getting hung up on... sick and unable to reach them by my car that I lived in until I lost it with my rights to have a safety plan and for care at the hospital of my choice or not. I lost my rights to protect myself and have been slandered I have been harassed by CRF workers and they have been reported to SDPD and APS when I stayed at their abusive non accommodating crisis home for health care vs hospitalization against me trying to walk again and recover after so many years stuck in a gas leak and with CPTSD from being raped by someone I cant seem to get arrested with companies who make me look so bad such as the reports of me screaming about the poor care I have never been forced to continue to encounter until Don Myers closed actor of El Cajon PD.
