A worker called yesterday telling me I would receive an eliglibity call today at 9:30am. No call. So I called the country. The person answering say 'we don't see any authorization for you to talk to us about his case but I will transfer you to an eligiblity worker". I was transfered to waiting music for about 15 minutes. Finally a human answered and when I gave the case number, the last four of his SSN, and our address, she said "we don't have any paperwork on file here allowing us to talk to you." I hung up in disgust and called my son's doctor. The doctor (just like last year) said he would call these people and help me!

I haven't had the pleasure of visiting any SSA building before today, but it reminded me of mini DMV, with the lobby of chairs, a kiosk, and monitor screens displaying next in line lottery numbers. Now serving #### at window #. Making the appointment was easy, however a 120+ minute phone hold time needs improvement. I called in to request duplicate paperwork and left the phone on speaker to run errands while waiting in the hold queue. Two...hours...later...a friendly voice greeted me and was very helpful and thorough with answering questions. While setting an SSA appointment the rep discovered an error and determined the root cause. Since their system had my phone and email info, I received reminders and information including an advance check-in weblink for when we arrived. I followed the link instructions and promptly received my ticket number before we got out of the car. There were a couple of people inside the lobby among the rows of seats towards the right when entering. The information TV screens and kiosk were to the left. Office SSA reps worked behind glass and each space provided two chairs with partitions separating customers for semi-privacy. We spent less than 5 minutes in the lobby after checking in online from the parking lot. Our SSA rep was friendly and helpful, answering questions and providing reasonable expectations of next steps after concluding the appointment in roughly 30 minutes to resolve why we needed to stop by in person. If you have an online account. I'd highly recommend taking that route, but if you must go the SSA office, be ready to endure the steps for making an appointment and be prepared with all necessary documents.

I really appreciate the foresight and thoughtfulness, especially because our original appointment was 2 days before our wedding!! Thankfully, because of their foresight, we were able to get an earlier appointment. The parking is super easy. As many Yelpers have mentioned, the entrance is on Ash street. Every single employee was extremely helpful! The parking attendants, the security guards, and all the people working in the office were knowledgeable and made this easy! I was a walk-in and did not have an appointment, but I only had to wait for about 40 minutes for an agent to call me to the window, after I checked in. At the window, the agent told me that the reason why I received the notice was that my payment had not been posted prior to the notice being sent out. He could see in the system that in fact I did pay the taxes etc. What I don't understand is that I made the payment a month prior to the date on the notice. You would think somebody would have noticed. An electronically sent payment should be automatic. In the end, they gave me a receipt for the payment that I made earlier, but did not apologize for my inconvenience.

We are seeking from the CA FTB an immediate release of the misapplied tax lien. BACKGROUND: Prior to me discovering on August 29 2025 that the FTB filed a tax lien on my wife and mine residential property, the CA FTB did NOT deliver to our residence of 35 years any written notice either seeking from a certain Karen L. Johnson (SSN# XXX-XX-1373) payment of a 2023 Tax debt ($6,517.29) to the CA FTB nor a written intent to file a lien against the residential property owned and occupied solely by myself and my wife. OUR EXPERIENCE: In an attempt to secure from the CA FTB an immediate release of the misapplied tax lien my wife and I have both separately and frequently sent the CA FTB messages via their web portal; attempted "chats" via their web portal; and attempted to communicated via telephone with a CA FTB representative. We left the voice messages, but no one called us back. We started "chats" only for the "chat" to be frequently and expectantly terminated. CONCUSION: Both the CA FTB messaging and chats seem to have been both designed to solely give the appearance of "doing good" for the CA tax payer. STATUS: As of today (Sept 15, 2025), this matter remains unresolved. My wife and I experience the daily emotional distress of attempting to communicate with an CA FTB human representative. Lastly, this tax lien has negatively affected both my wife and mine respective credit worthiness ratings, healthy, blood pressure, and peace of mind.
