I was denied PFL for my new born. The phone agents told me to get bent. And I was turned away at the door for assistance.

Can't get a hold of anyone, it's very sad how the state lacks so much in taking care of its own.

Ask the Community - State Disability Office - EDD

Is this office open every Friday or do they have summer hours?

Does this office (State Disability Office-EDD, at 9246 Lightwave Ave, Bldg B, San Diego, CA 92131, handle paid medical leave paperwork?

I would say yes, however I'm not sure your exact situation. They handled my paperwork for my medical leave from work. There was a "hiccup" but this office resolved it same day.

There's hardly any info on EDD's website and I'm having to come from a distance away after not getting through the phone lines for 2 months. What is the cutoff time for a walk-in? Where do we park? Thanks in advance to anyone that can answer!

Set up as a first come, first served system. Get there by 7:45, walk into the bldg, go to the 3rd floor, suite 300. Stand outside the door and a security person will come out with a clipboard shortly before 8. You sign in, are given a number and… Read more

Do I need to make an appointment by phone to visit the State Disability office?

No, you do not need to make an appointment. I was a walk-in and was taken care of with no issue.

I went here to renew my son's medi-cal, and you know the process when your documents are missing you're extremelyyyyy stressed and in full panic mode to beat deadlines. I've been sent back and forth between the high volume CALLs through ONE phone line, every day i'd call, the phone operators were NO HELP WHATSOEVER, they're soo effin rude!!! But this girl, i didn't catch her name. She's an angel sent from heaven i kid you not, she made this process absolutely tolerable and she was a pleasant to work with. She worked at station letter E, and i was here at 3:03pm, she has curly brown hair and she wore glasses. SHE IS THE DEFINITION OF CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Thanks to her, GIVING ME THE DIRECTION i need, and making this DREADFUL process a lot easier. THANK YOU!!!

And somewhere they know I am the conservator because I always receive two packets of the 100 pages of crap to renew. However whenever I try to call for the 'mediCal eligibility' to renew I get "Oh we don't have any authorization on file to let us talk to you about his file." A worker called yesterday telling me I would receive an eliglibity call today at 9:30am. No call. So I called the country. The person answering say 'we don't see any authorization for you to talk to us about his case but I will transfer you to an eligiblity worker". I was transfered to waiting music for about 15 minutes. Finally a human answered and when I gave the case number, the last four of his SSN, and our address, she said "we don't have any paperwork on file here allowing us to talk to you." I hung up in disgust and called my son's doctor. The doctor (just like last year) said he would call these people and help me!

Now that the economy has remained really bad-this place is like crazy busy almost all the time. I…read moredoesn't help that they give away free Swine Flu shots in their parking lot! I have to caution Yelp readers to maintain their composure and ask God to grant you serenity, because you will need it in bucket loads when your biz takes you here!`If anyone remembers The Reader cover story from a few weeks back on "The Welfare Queen," many of my remarks will coincide with that opus on entitlements. For some unknown reason, one of my safety net services was cut off and I received a letter telling me that without an explanation. When I called the toll-free number, after being on hold for like 3 hours, a worker finally came on and said that I was over a certain amount in my bank balance. In other words, I was $25 over the poverty limit allowed. Never mind that their rules forbid them for counting unemployment compensation money you receive against you-they did it anyways. So the woman on the phone tells me to make copies of my bank deposits and unemployment checks to prove that's where my money comes from. When I receive my quarterly report form, I send that proof in-AS DIRECTED TO BY THE TELEPHONE LADY. I then receive a call from another worker telling me that I sent in the wrong proof of income-they need the unemployment stubs, not copies of the checks. So off I go to make copies of the stubs (keep in mind-I am still (wrongly) terminated from their services by this mistake of theirs) and today I drove it up and personally handed it to the lady who told me she needed it in order to finish my quarterly report. When this women finally got to me in the waiting office, she looked (and sounded like) something the (hippie) cat dragged in! She didn't even remember telling me to drive up the paperwork. Then she laugh and tells me she will only recycle it since it is not needed after all! How come she made me drive it all the way up & wait to turn it in? I get to go to an appeal hearing and ask a judge to reinstate my services because this department cut me off in error-although I have given them EVERY PROOF they need or want to keep me on board! The right hand does not know what the left hand is doing here. These bureaucrats are so over-whelmed with work and new cases, that they can't think straight! I do feel for them but at the same time, they can make your life miserable-if you let them. I just stood there today and tried to be amused by the randomness of it all. Also the absurdity of them putting me through the ringer for a mistake they committed but I have to pay for. Hassles, hassles, and more hassles! Make sure you leave the screaming, runny-nosed rug rats at home! Try and get a good night of sleep and eat a nutritious breakfast before you drag yourself up to this Welfare Office. It will take every ounce of your sanity to remain sane while dealing with these paper-pushers and their senseless, contradictory rules and regulations. That middle-class sense of entitlement you earned by going to college and once having a good job will gain you no ground here. Best to just shut up and deal with it. As nice as this new office is-as I documented in my previous Yelp-the B.S. entailed with going here-is almost soul-crushing. I thank God for enough self-control and discipline to just play along to get along. Remember what I say if your path in life should ever take you up to Ruffin Road and this insanity-inducer of an office!

The second floor is the Human Resources Dept. On the third floor you have the Sheriff Detention Medical Office, Auditor and Controller Office: Revenue & Recovery and Office of Audits and Advisory Services. The fourth floor has the Auditor & Controller Office. I am not sure what goes on in these offices I can only guess. Outside of this building was a huge parking lot and patio area for taking breaks, lunch etc. There were also four other buildings just as large in the same area. They buildings were in excellent condition, the parking lots and patio was clean.

Apparently she had broken into someone's basement nearby via their crawl space and they were able to safely sedate and tag her - so now she has a lovely gps collar and matching earring (ear tag) LOL!! But before she was tagged, she managed to steal a workman's ice chest right out of his truck hahaha! They released her in the mountains nearby bc this is her home. But the tags will enable them to more readily locate her when there are reports of issues - and humanely "haze" her back up into her mountain home and away from the more urban areas via loud noises and such. She actually showed up yesterday almost right after I got the update call - her "ears must've been burning" as we say in the south lol - she must've known we were talking about her haha! So I just can't say enough great things about my experience with our regional DFW staff - thank you so much for all your efforts in helping us all peacefully coexist and thank you for the diligent follow up Meg and Mackenzie!!! I completed a corrections academy run by several San Diego Sheriffs deputies and detectives. I…read moredeveloped great respect for them and this profession. My employer at the time, Advantage Sentry and Protection, sabotaged me. Advantage Sentry and Protection Owner, Norman Llanes, hired his crony, Marco A. Rossi, a terminated police officer with The San Diego Unified School District, and gave him a pretend supervisor position. Norman and Rossi had previously worked together as police for the district. At the time of his employment with ASAP , Rossi was involved in a lawsuit, trying to get his pension. While employed at ASAP, I went through a corrections academy to start a new career. Meanwhile, Rossi would not stop causing problems for everyone, and was openly hostile. Rossi went as far as telling me not to view him as a supervisor. Everyone started voicing their problems with this terminated cop. A supervisor gave two weeks notice due to repeated antagonism from Rossi. A second supervisor(retired Chula Vista PD) said, " I won't get out of my car until he leaves. He stirs bleep up." The owners eldest son. Norman Avery Llanes Jr. said, " He is an a***e. He is only here for a free check." Rossi was threatened with termination by the owner's wife, Joyce Atkins Llanes, for harassing a male employee with a tampon. Rossi falsely told subordinates that I was having sex with a female employee, and lied about my job performance. Rossi was watching pornography on the company computer in the lobby. Norman was monitoring the online search history, and protected him. After he adversely affected my wages and work record, I put in a complaint. The owner was furious with me, and demanded that I justify myself to his crony. The owner immediately suspended me. Owner, Norman Llanes, Rossi, and I met at the office. The owner falsely promoted Rossi to a higher rank at this time. Yet, Rossi had previously told me not to view him as a supervisor. On this day, he wanted to be viewed as one. Norman Llanes began bragging about their law enforcement backgrounds. Norman started lying to my face about my job performance. Norman said, " If it was up to me, I would fire you." Yet, I did not even have a restroom at my work site. Norman expected me to go to a grocery store for this. Then, with a false sense of moral superiority, the owner said, " I expect more from a corrections academy graduate." This was after the owner instructed me to falsify reports for client, Walters Management. This was now a hostile environment. As Norman and I stood outside the front office door, I asked how this would be resolved. The owner took one step inside, and literally through the door shut in my face. One week later, I was terminated for "insubordination." Norman decided to fully support the games of Marco A. Rossi. Also, I was told by a supervisor that Norman was having mood swings due to all the medications he was taking for his medical problems. For the unemployment hearing, I subpoenaed a supervisor, and had a security officer voluntarily testify. The supervisor never disputed any of the allegations against Rossi. The security officer confirmed that Rossi was telling subordinates I was having sex with a female employee. Norman could not give a single reason to justify my termination. The owner repeated, "I expect more from a corrections academy graduate." Norman was delusional. Norman became desperate, and was caught lying about me. At the end of the hearing, the ASAP operations manager agreed that my termination was not justified. Norman was laughed out of the hearing. However, I did not receive benefits due to not attending the first hearing(mandatory). After the hearing, I contacted Norman in good faith about changing my file. Norman texted me, "You drunk man." I do not drink alcohol. I applied for a corrections job. Norman destroyed me with this potential employer during a background check. The last time I viewed my file, there were five inches of false documents in my file. Norman posted my name on two websites with disparaging remarks. My home address was posted on a third website. Norman Avery Llanes Jr. is my character witness. Owner, Norman Llanes, would not stop lying.
