This office moves quicker than other SS offices, but sometimes they stink at telling you all the paperwork you need to bring for something. We had to go back to our house THREE times to get more paperwork they forgot to tell us about the first 2 times...same employee helping us every time. But this place is like the DMV...they all suck, you just have to prepare to spend an entire day here and find the one that sucks the least.

Was hung up on two times in a row after waiting on hold both times. Never even got to connect with a live person.

Great service! We were almost shocked to be called to the counter within 10 minutes of our appointment.

It was absolutely appalling. While the event was presented under the premise of supporting domestic violence victims and families in crisis, I left feeling deeply concerned. One Safe Place markets itself as a haven for DV survivors seeking protection, support, and healing. However, inviting Mitra Sarkhosh to speak raises serious ethical questions. While she presents herself as an experienced and compassionate therapist, many protective parents are aware of her controversial reputation. Families struggling through the complexities of family court--particularly those who are vulnerable and without means--have voiced concerns for years about the role some professionals play in perpetuating trauma rather than alleviating it. In my opinion, today's presentation was not only misleading but potentially harmful. A so-called sales pitch to profit off of these helpless families in order to profit off these family courts cases. It painted an overly simplified picture of high-conflict custody cases and the role of therapeutic intervention, while ignoring the realities many families face--particularly those navigating abuse, coercion, and systemic bias within family court. I urge One Safe Place to re-evaluate who they give a platform to. Survivors deserve access to ethical, balanced, and trauma-informed guidance--not content that may further confuse or retraumatize those already in crisis. To truly serve your mission, please exercise greater discernment and ensure the professionals you invite reflect the values of integrity, transparency, and advocacy for the vulnerable. Shame on you One Safe Place for allowing harmful therapists a platform that give misleading information to those who are seeking help. Do better and stop taking advantage of these families who truly need your help.

My review is of the San Diego County Social Workers and the County System as a Whole…read more The social services system within the County of San Diego is, without question, one of the most dysfunctional and disheartening public institutions I have ever had to rely on. The structure in place is completely reprehensive--built on delays, miscommunication, and a lack of urgency that actively harms the people who genuinely need help. Recently, I submitted all the documents requested to have my food stamps reinstated under an emergency situation. Our household's food supply was set to run out in three days or less, and I made this explicitly clear. After turning in the paperwork, I called on Monday to verify everything had been received and to explain that we had an urgent need. Despite that, I was essentially given the runaround. The person I spoke with told me there were additional items required--items that the previous staff member never informed me about. Had I been told initially, those documents would have been submitted over the weekend along with the others. Because of this lack of communication and accountability, no one at the county was able to confirm whether we would receive our food stamp allotment before the weekend. As it stands, my children may end up having nothing to eat until they return to school on Monday morning. The fact that a system designed to prevent hunger can't even guarantee food for children over a weekend--after being notified of the urgency--is absolutely outrageous. This isn't just an inconvenience. It's a failure of basic responsibility and human decency. The county's lack of consideration for my children's well-being and nutritional needs is unacceptable. Families should not be left in limbo because information wasn't properly communicated. Emergencies should be handled within one business day--especially when children's access to food is at stake. San Diego County must confront the painful truth: its social service system does not serve the vulnerable. Instead, it traps people in bureaucratic loops that delay urgent help and create unnecessary suffering. I demand real, meaningful change--communication that is consistent, processing that is timely, and a system that recognizes the real-world consequences of its inaction. No family should ever have to fear a weekend without food because of preventable administrative failures.
