I would just like to thank the Nextlink rep Nancy R. for staying on the phone with me for almost 2 hours to help resolve my issue with my WiFi. She was kind, patient and didn't judge me for my internet incompetence lol. I was very appreciative I was on the phone with a woman who didn't sound like she was rushing me. Thank you...Nextlink way to go hire more women!!!!! Thank you again Nancy R. read more

If we have anything but sunny weather with no wind, we lose our internet service. I have been told I'll receive a call back from the tech team (this has never happened once), no ETA on a resolution, no answer as to what the issue is (or different answers from each rep, i.e., the tower is down, someone cut a fiber optic cable, etc.). I was told they'd give me a "note" to provide to my work after three weeks of losing internet at least one full working day each weed. I likened that to telling my employer that I'd love to do my job but I had no car to get there. Our neighborhood is new and NextLink is the only option we have, so unless we move we're stuck with the most horrendous internet provider I've ever experienced. read more

I wanted to update my review in an effort to be fair with Nextlink. It turns out that my first Nextlink installer had omitted a critical part of the install and it ended up taking several different techs and a few trips to finally figure it out. I am told that the original tech that did my install is no longer with Nextlink. Things are working well now and I really appreciate the last tech, Dylan, sticking with it all day and finally figuring out what the issue was. read more

I had an install almost a week ago and within 10 minutes after the installers left, I lost service. The last thing I wanted to do was call customer service to report a technical issue after a brand new install. When I did, the rep escalated my connection issues and a tech called me back. We spoke on the phone over the next couple of days, totaling a few hours. Still no fix. A new tech gave me a call back in the evening and said that my ticket had been closed as my issue had been resolved. The next morning it was back to an intermittent connection. I called back and opened another ticket. Nextlink is going to send out a tech to investigate/repair the hardware well over a week from now. I'm paying for no service. This appears to be a common problem and I wish I had read other reviews prior to making the decision to contact NextLink. read more

4th day still no service on our internet. No answer to when the problem will be resolved. No credit back continue to charge full price for service not received. Poor business in my opinion. Would look into all options before going with nextlink. appears they over sold what the tower can handle. Amazing that a business treats customers this way. All they can say is it's a problem with the tower we are on and when ask to be put on another tower was told the other tower had a problem also so that's no an option. Sounds like way to many people on the towers. If not get my internet fixed. This is not acceptable!! It's definitely not the company we originally purchased interest from. Beware when deciding to do business with this company!! read more

They are the most unreliable internet service provider I have been with. I moved a year ago and they are the only provider that service my area that offers fiber, so I am stuck with their unreliable service. I work from home and my wifi is down at least once a week. Calling in to their tech support is useless. All they recommend is unplugging and then plug it back up. Once that doesn't work it has to be escalated to level 2. They provide no time frame of when level 2 can even get to it. Eventually it will start working again with no explanation of why it stopped in the first place. I cannot wait until another provider in my area offers fiber because I am switching asap. read more

Nextlink purchased BSpeedy in Flora Illinois last year. They just recently took over or so the paperwork says. Since then my service has been worse than dialup. I have had my account for 15 years, paying $75/month for 5meg down. Not the best in the world but most of the time it worked. Since Nextlink took over I have had more issues in the past 3 months than i ever had in 15 years. Whats worse is when you have a problem, and this was also true with BSpeedy all they want to do is trouble shoot and blame it on my router or something in the way its connected to the network. I finally got to where I was sending in trace routes to show them where their problem was, but it did no good. Lately I have been having issues with very high latency sometimes the ping would be 1000 with less than 1 meg down. Its good to see some complaints on other sites especially about the throttling during peak hours of 6pm to midnight, i though that only happend to me. Seems that is going on everywhere. Fortunately for me I do have options other than their service, more expensive but very reliable. I am almost ready to tell them to take their internet and shove it and go with someone else. read more

I'm only giving two stars because everyone I've talked to one the phone has been very nice and tried to help. I called on a Thursday to set up the next available appointment which was Tuesday morning the following week from 8-12 (I understood them as they would be there at 8 which is my fault I guess). I called around 9 asking if there was an eta and was told you're next. I said okay and told them I had to leave by 1pm. 11:30 roles around and still nothing so I call again and was told the tech was stuck at a house troubleshooting but they are certain he can get to the house by 1pm but I would need someone over 18 to be there while he finished. I told them I couldn't make that happen so we rescheduled for Friday morning (8-12) of that week. Again I took off from work so I could physically be there for them. The tech calls me around 7:45 and I missed it. Dispatch then calls me a little after 8 which again I missed but called back a few minutes later only to be told the tech waited his 15 minutes then moved on to the next house. This whole time I'm sitting in the living room and nobody came to the front door right there to knock or ring the door bell. There is no gate or anything they were stuck behind and there were cars in the drive indicating someone was home. Now here we are over a week without Internet right now and the next available appointment is Monday. So I will have to take off work for a third time in a weeks time just to be here and hope that I catch the phone ringing or don't end up not answering thinking it's spam. I don't understand why they can't give better appointments times that are a little closer than half a day window (I don't need a precise time but at least give people an idea on whether they are first on the route or last). I also don't understand why they wouldn't knock or something. I imagine they just called once and sat in the car on the street for the required 15 minutes then left. Again great people in the office to talk to and work with but very poor effort by the tech. (So be warned you have to have your phone glued to you and you might as well pull a chair out in the drive way to make sure they can see you or something.) read more

horrible company. they claim you get a certain amount of download and upload but you only get it for like 20 min then it disconnects you. we call and say something and they say it is a issue with our cookies and then after that say they don't know. do not go to this company if you want to use internet at all because you wont be able to with them. it is sad because this is the only company that can come to our house because of where we live and they take advantage of good paying customers. read more

My wife and I have used up all of our hotspot trying to watch TV. Nextlink has very poor customer service. Be aware that you will have to pay an extra month when you cancel. There is no arguing it or even discussing it. Nextlink is about getting the customer and the sale, not keeping the customer. One should ask why this Company has bought only in areas where they would be a monopoly. Then when someone else comes in, will just be a wall, no assistance, Will claim, "Why are you breaking up with me." And that is actually what the Customer Rep said to me. So not only was disconnecting uncomfortable, but do not care about prorating or even being nice, Sarcasm rules at Nextlink. We signed up for service 3/19. We got the best plan offered for our area and we were paying 151.17 a month. I called 8/22 to see if our area could get better service and was told no, but our plan was now 90.69. Of course I wanted the lower price, but had I not called I would still have been paying 151.17. My service didn't change just the price. We got fiber optic in our area and I called to see if Nextlink had the same or better than what we could get before we switched. They didn't. I found out during this conversation that when I called in August of 22 that we went under another 2 year contract. This wasn't for a faster service, but for the price reduction. The account is under my husband name and they told me he signed the contract. They had a copy of it. My husband was in an accident on 8/21 and has no use of his hands because he became a quadriplegic. He couldn't have signed anything on 8/22. The copy of the contract they sent was computer generated. I called and told them all of this and asked for a copy of the recorded call. When you call the recording says all calls are recorded. I wanted to hear where I agreed to this new two year contract and where I was told my husband would have to sign a new contract. I have spoken with numerous people and was told two supervisors would call me and never heard from either of them. When I tried to close the account they said I couldn't do it because it wasn't in my name. I would have to have a POA and I said I will send it to you now. They would have known this if I had been told about a new contract because I would have said my husband can't sign and I would have had to sign it. I am having to pay 400.00 to get out of this contract to go with a new and better service. I was told today that I can't listen to the records call. They have listened to it and it says I was told about the new contract. I asked why they were recording my conversation, but I don't have a right to hear it. They have been giving me the run around. No one should do business with a company that treats customers this way and takes advantage of peoples money. I would still be paying 151.17 if I hadn't called to just see if they had better service! I can't believe it's 2023 and company's can get away with this kind of service! read more

Waited a month for someone to come out to install, totally fine. I took off work, rep shows up, before even looking for signal says that it's difficult because of two trees as he did the house directly in front of us. Spends 10 minutes sitting in his car, gets on the roof for less than two, literally walks from one side to the other, gets back into his car for ten more minutes. Then said I'd need a 40 ft custom tower on top of our 20 ft house? Call the place to see what was going on, the sales rep said she checked before hand and nothing indicated we couldn't get signal, she would send a different rep. This request was denied from management stating what he said was correct. I could accept that easily if I felt like the first rep actually put an effort into his job verse showing up, and before even trying, saying this is hard. We're told we have to pay a fee to see if there is any signal on the property which will take an addition several weeks to get someone out. When I contacted the company they ended the conversation with me twice and refused to provide a number to a tech rep who could answer our questions like how our family members house whose is directly behind ours has signal off the same tower but ours in front, actually closer to the tower cannot. Literally sandwiched between two houses that get service But mines impossible... yeah. Also I think the person who came out may have meant that we needed an additional 20 feet to the house making in total 40 ft. When asked he stated no, a 40 ft tower. That's 60 ft including the house. How? read more

Horrendous service! Our installer was amazing, but after that, it went downhill quickly. Our internet is often very slow, sometimes going out for minutes at a time. Their support always blames that we have our own modem (instead of renting their $$$ modem), but it eventually comes back on. They love the "It's not my table" response. Today, we were down again, so I called support. The wait time was 42 minutes, so I hung up. I couldn't get the sales department, either. They have no email that I could find. We have cable coming within a month, and we weren't going to switch, but we are now. We're fed up with lousy service and people who don't give a darn. read more

I joined Nextlink as a new customer on July 13, 2021. Since joining 4 months ago, I have had 4 outages of service. When I call tech support, their standard response is they can have a technician onsite in 1 week. I work from home (as do many people now) and being without internet service for a week at a time is completely unacceptable. Today is Thanksgiving and I haven't had service since yesterday morning. So we now have a house full of guests who would love to watch football while visiting for the holidays. No dice since I have no internet and no Youtube TV for cable. They finally gave me the courtesy of a return phone call today to tell me they can have someone out here ... guess what .... on Dec 1 (one week from yesterday). I am looking for a new service provider but we are limited in this area so I am stuck with Nextlink as a part-time internet provider. read more

We have had this provider for 14months. Out of that we have had issues for 9months. First we were told they over powered the towers so they were updating them. That took forever and they were still charging us the same price every month. Any time you would ask for an update, or a call, or to speak to a manager one was not available. Now the last couple of nights the towers are not working. We did finally receive a text today that they were fixed only to find out that was a lie. And guess what a manager is not available. This is ridiculous .... It's hard for us to find internet living in the country and we were told they would work and are great. Unfortunately that's not the case. read more

Would give zero stars if I could. We had an appt for install Aug 11. There wasn't a certain wire the tech needed. So we had to reschedule for today Aug 17. The 1st tech had no trouble finding the house. Today the tech got to the area and was in between our house and the neighbor. He called at 2:03, I was in an area with no service, waited 15 min and left. He didn't go up to the door and knock. We had 5 people on property the whole day. I called immediately when I got service. I was told, let me call a supervisor and see what we can do, this was 2:21. At 3:36 I called back and talked to Sheila. She said the same, let me call a supervisor and see what I can do. No call back. I called and got ahold of a supervisor at 4:50. She told me he couldn't figure it which house. And left. She basically didn't give a flying flip and "couldn't do anything for a week". Common sense says is he has 4 appts in the afternoon and doesn't do one of them, then he has time to come back around to us. But they said he didn't. She is going to call an area supervisor and see what they can do....I'm sure it will be time wasted waiting for a call back. She even said we know this isn't y'all's fault but we can't do anything different. read more

My install was today. My internet is fast and seems to work really well. The installation was another story. I sent my coordinator, Tonya pictures of my 60 foot tower. I told her that my guy wires were loose and I was uncomfortable with getting on the roof to tighten them. She said that that would not be an issue with the installers. They got to my house around 8 am and one of the installers (I think his name was Cory) started complaining to me about the guy wires being loose. No offer to tighten them. Instead he said that they needed to get with the office personnel and explain what they would and would not do. They wanted to put an antenna on the front of my house and I said no. That seemed to irritate him more and anywhere I suggested installing the antenna would not work for him. He said he would go 25 feet up and not an inch higher. I told him that I was unhappy with his attitude and planned to complain which I did. He said that he would call his supervisor. He also said that my guy wires were not really guy wires and shouldn't be on the tower. This is the third or fourth group of people who have put stuff on my tower and everyone else just fixed whatever problems they found. In fact an ISP put those guy wires on my tower. I don't want to blame everyone for Cory's incompetence and unprofessional behavior. The other installer just wanted to get the job done and so did Tonya. Just in case anyone from NextLink actually reads these reviews I would like to request two things. Pleaase do some screening of the installers and have talks about what their training procedures are and what they will and won't do. Also please don't send Cory to my house for anything again, no matter how minor. read more

My husband and I have used Nextlink for approximately 6 years. The internet service was decent, although a little expensive compared to other companies in the area. We received a phone call from our son that Nextlink had removed our equipment from our home. Even though his number is not the contact number and the billing is not in his name, they always call his number even though we have asked them to take his number from the contact several times, since he does not reside at the residence and he was only used as contact on the initial install. I immediately called Nextlink and was told that our auto payment had been rejected. I asked them which card they had on file, and she read me the last 4 numbers of an old bank account which I hadn't used in months. I remember updating my account with them the last time I paid my bill, but apparently it was not updated on their system that disconnects service. I told the customer service rep that I had no idea my bill was behind because I thought it was coming out of my checking automatically and didnt notice. Shen then told me that I should have known that I didn't have service because they interrupted my service a few weeks before hand. When I told her we were still able to use the internet, she told me that for some reason I had 2 IP addresses therefore, the service had not been completely shut off. Anyway, I asked when the tech could come restore service and they said they could get someone out in 7 days. In order for them to come out, they needed me to pay the past due amount. I asked her to hold on so I could get my glasses to read her my current credit card information, and she said she could just bill the card she had on file "ending in ****". Which is the current information that they were SUPPOSED to use. Apparently, someone on their end charged the old card instead of the new one and I KNEW they had my current information and she just proved it by reading the number to me. They added the new info but never removed the old information which caused the disconnect. So, She billed the card without incident and we set the reconnect day. On Friday the 11th, I took off work so I could be there when they installed the equipment on my roof. At around 9:15 am I looked at my phone to see what time it was and noticed I had a message from my son. Nextlink called my son (not me or my husband who actually live there and pay the bill) and told him they were at our residence at 8am. I immediately called Nextlink and explained to them that I have been home all day, I live in a small place, and if the technician knocked on the door I would have heard him because I have been sitting here waiting. She put me on hold and when she came back she told me that she didn't believe I was there or that "I saw the truck pull away" because if that really happened I would have called in sooner. I told her that I never said I saw the truck pull away. I said that I was home and didn't hear anyone knock on the door. I told her that it was obvious that we were home, with 3 cars in the drive way. If he knocked, it was a tap and not a knock. I don't believe he knocked more than once, if at all. I would have heard him. Or maybe he pulled into the wrong residence. Because he didn't come to my door and he surely didn't knock with the intentions of me hearing him. Well, she told me it would be 6 more days before service would be connected. That I couldn't expect the technician to turn around and come back out. For $120 a month for 5 years, I think some effort on their part would have been nice. Instead, I have a customer rep stating that I said something I didn't say, telling me I wasn't home. None of this would have happened if they updated the information last time I called in to pay my bill. Nextlink let us know exactly what they thought of us today. They let us know that our business was not important to them. For years, we have kept their service through outages, slow internet, mistakes with equipment, ... even before they had a customer service number and we used to have to use email to contact. We stayed with them because they were trying to build business in the area and they were TRYING to satisfy. Sadly, they just dont need or want my money anymore. The good news is, We made a phone call to another internet provider in the area called Rise Internet. The tech was very accommodating and said they could have someone out between 8 am and Noon tomorrow and they promised the tech would actually knock on the door when they arrived. And, the same internet service will cost us $75 a month instead of the $120 a month we have been paying to Nextlink. A supervisor from Nextlink is supposed to call me today. I wonder if they will call my son again? Either way, Nextlink has changed as a company. We were with them when they first started in the area, but they just dont need the business anymore. Btw, the customer rep stated they only had 1 tech. Lol, I hope she way lying read more

First off ignore the Google reviews as the reason for them having so many 5 star reviews is because the tech that installed the equipment is begging for them to leave 5 star reviews before he leaves the install. I know as I was one of many that have been asked to and initially did the same thing. That is why most of the reviews have a techs name listed in the review. It's simply part of the game Nextlink plays with their techs to keep the reviews 5 star. Until recently I've been a happy customer for almost 4 years. Last few months have finally shown that they have over saturated their towers and apparently continue to add new users without upgrading the equipment. I have called customer service 5 or 6 times in the last 7 or 8 days. Why, the 25m connection that I'm paying close to 100 bucks a month for is again showing a ping of 300-600ms and downloads speeds are 1m-3m at best. Customer Service has the typical scripted responses and can't do anything more that acknowledge that I don't have service while telling me that I'm not the only one on the tower that my dish is pointed to that is having issues. Escalation from customer service to the "senior techs" is pointless as it does nothing. At 3am I have service, at 8am I have service but when everyone gets in the neighborhood starts getting home from about 5pm in the afternoon until 2-3am my service slowly diminishes to nothing. This is a daily occurrence and has been for months. Simply put, they have oversold the service to the point that the towers are saturated so bad all they will tell me is that I'm getting the best signal possible and on the best and only tower available. Simply put when I have a less than a 1m download(.57m to be exact at last check) and a 5.4m upload(upload speed is suppose to be 5m) its not a tower issue, its a bandwidth issue. Nextlink denies this and tries to tell me that again its a tower issue. Oddly, there only seems to be a tower issue when the tower is overloaded because too many people are on the tower and heavily using the tower. A month or so ago I received a email letting me know that Starlinks service was partially available to me so after yet another call today with Nextlink customer service that went nowhere I decided today that I was finally tired of it and ordered the Starlink equipment. read more

BILLING. I have had a few billing issues that was their fault with the automated billing pulling from account that caused fees and downtime. It happen enough to where they told me I would have to go on card instead of bank account draft (as if it was my fault). Each time I received bank fees and the trouble of having to go to the bank and they reversed the charges and next link resolved issue on their end. Next link got the information to help assist and take to the bank but was a unnecessary hassle I didn't cause. The support was responsive. CONNECTION.Connection issues because I guess the size of the company support is cutoff at a certain time 10 I believe the recording said. I may be in the minority that does critical business after hours with other countries. My connection is down now and no way to get a response so business is done. I used to have intermittent issues during the work day a lot (work from home) that are now ok. Although I'm down now it's these times that can't be compensated for when business is effected. It doesn't happen like it used to but if you are down and can't get anyone you have to factor this into your decision. I used to lose connection often when working from home that was frustrating. SUPPORT: Support is decent however must be a change maybe the same but I used to could call and make arrangements during their support hours. Now if you miss the billing window I think billing closes at 4:30 you have to call back they don't help with that anymore. Consider that in your decision. PRICES. PRICES are higher than many options you can get from a populated city area probably because if you are in the country or a place with limited competition they can charge higher. Termination fee is quite high so if you experience issues after the month or whatever grace period you have you will face a high penalty for switching. Connection update: As I type this after being down for a few hours connection just came back for a couple mins now unavailable again now back again. SUPPORT people that have been outstanding DENISE H her counterpart and others. Great job Denise! Also I think it was a Darren(can't remember name) in tech support who finally got connection issues consistent. If I get the name I will update. Good service deserves to be rewarded. Kudos SPEEDS. Speeds again for the price not really that great. Again if you are in the a rural area you have to take what's available based on the competition. In a more populated city with better competition for speeds and price next link would lose. Also I used to get the whole peak time excuse when services was slow so you have to consider their physical and logical topology and how your service will receive connections vs other companies when choosing. read more

Our first install was poor and frustrating even before the tech left. That happens and the mark of a good company is how they deal with it. Nextlink has 24 hour on call techs, so I was able to speak to someone who was helpful and informative. They couldn't fix remotely so the set up a service call for a Tuesday. However, on Monday, they sent Triste out. He has expert level customer service. He diagnosed the problems, explained it in layman's terms, then fixed it. He went behind the original technician and fixed sloppy finish and asthenic work as well. I appreciated his attitude of needing to make things right and providing excellent CS. So I'll be happy with Nextlink if this is how they respond to issues. read more
