I moved into a new build in Chico and requested service from Nextlink. They showed up and were unable to provide service requesting that I place a 50 ft tower on top of my two story house. Seemed like a bit much. I then had to pay to have them do a site survey, $75. I was then told if I placed a 25 foot tower closer to the road the could provide service. Once I was able to find a contractor to place a 25 ft tower, at the cost of several thousands of dollars I am now told it will take a 35 ft tower. In addition to all of this, the sale person continued to talk over me not allowing me to explain the situation. Not only would I give them a zero star rating if possible, I would give them negative stars. This is by far the most ridiculous company I have ever had to work with. read more

TERRIBLE service!! GO WITH STARLINK!! We've had people out 4 different times. No one was able to get us set up. We do live out in the country , but the people who owned our house prior already had the equipment on the roof!! They some how we're still unable to get us set up , one guy came out and didn't even know what to do? We were told that when he had to leave that they were going to send out THE expert and they will have us set up 100% That did not happen and keep trying to force us into purchasing a tower for 2k. Again, we love out in the country but if my metro pcs phone can get great internet and reception I don't understand why they could not get the internet set up with the equipment that was already up. Customer service is awful, can't say much about the internet service - but from the other reviews we probably dodged a bullet anyways. read more

Have been a customer for 3 years. After many, many, MANY support calls, they installed a new system called Tarana, which worked great. For 3 months. Now it is back to on-off-on again, and many, many, MANY calls for technical support. Apparently NO ONE at Nextlink knows how to fix their hardware or software. Use ANY OTHER PROVIDER!!! We are supposed to get a new fiber service in the next few weeks. Now going to the local library and other places to connect and work. read more

We live on a ranch west of Jacksboro. For 10 years we had dsl internet service. A whopping 1.8 mg down and .3 upload. Awful! And then I heard about Nextlink. What a wonderful surprise. Did not need to build a tower. They put up a small parabolic antenna and it Worked!!! Today I upgraded too 100 mg plan and love it. I was having trouble and called tech support. Very friendly. Explained how to reset router and all is good. Excellent customer service. Highly recommend. read more

been a customer for 2 years. had great service up until 3 weeks ago. I have spent hours on the phone with them. The tech and supervisor tell me one thing, the senior techs in the office say another. A tech came out on Friday afternoon. He was here 15-20 mins. He got the internet up a again. We left after he did for 2.5 hours. Came back and now we are back to splotchy, awful internet with the EXACT same issue as we had. One more year in my contract....they work hard to get the account, but not so much once they have it. read more

Service response time is terrible. We've been without service for four days and will probably be at least three more before they come out to resolve. The line crossing the street is too low and has been knocked down by large trucks coming into the neighborhood at least twice. I'm thankful we don't work from home and depend on their internet service. I pay more for a slower speed than what I paid at my previous address. They don't have any competition in our neighborhood which I think affects the service we receive. I would not recommend this provider. I'm contemplating satellite service at this point. read more

Absolutely horrible company. Once they have you as a customer, they know that they're pretty much the only game in town for rural Internet. They don't care about their existing customers. My internet went down a week ago Wednesday. I called them, and they said they were working on it. I called them Thursday morning. They said I was on the list to be called since they could not resolve my issue on my end, and would need to schedule an on site service appointment. But they did not call me; I called them! They said their next available service date available was two weeks from now, and they would put me on an early call list. After a few days of using a mobile hotspot that I had to purchase from another company, I filed an on-line ticket telling them to come and get their equipment, and cancel my account. They did not respond to that for 3 days, and when they did, they asked me to call or email so they could try to resolve my issue and keep me as a customer. I called, an nobody could help. The best they could do was knock 3 days off my wait time. That means that if they're able to resolve the issue when they come out, I will have been without service for 12 days! Meanwhile I see their trucks all over town doing new installs every day. There is absolutely no justification for putting new installs ahead of current paying customers! I work from home, and cannot be without Internet for 12-15 days! This company knows that they are your only option, and you'll come crawling back with grattitude no matter how badly they treat you. read more

I do not recommend Next link for rural service, my experience has been horrible, constant drop service and then restarts. If there is a cloud in the sky expect and outage!!! i have turned in multiple complaints about the service and nothing has improved its reliability, nothing. I work from home often and demand internet, so every time it reboots or there is an outage my job suffers. I decide to try Nextlink instead of the usual Brady communications, and boy am i sorry. Brady communications service is reliable, stable and fast. Which is now who i am paying to install and get rid of this joke for a service Nextlink. Stay away from Nextlink!! read more

Great install, very professional. Answered all the questions I had. I would definitely recommend them.

Techs are great, internet is trash for how big and how much they make and produce a year. Poor internet for price and too many outages. it storms its out at least a few hours every time. read more

We have had inconsistent internet for the past three weeks now going on four. Long on-hold waits to even get to tech support. Five days out to get someone to come out to check their equipment. The last tech came out and took our router and put a Nextlink provided router in its place and connected it into our existing mesh system. Of course, that was not the right thing to do. Any tech person should know that. He took our router with him. Now we cannot use our warranty. Again, cannot reach tech support to find out what the field tech did with our router. I have been on hold- yet again- for over an hour! They also told us they would credit our account for the down time. They did not do that - issued us a credit equivalent to less than a week and we were down for three weeks. read more

do not contract with this company. they will take your money knowingly when they are not providing service then lean on their "no refunnd" policy to unjustly enrich themselves. very unethical business model indeed. read more

I'm very impressed with Nextlink's customer service. On installation day we had issues connecting w/the tower. Q, our service tech, stayed with us all day until we had internet. I was waiting for him to say they'd have to come back, but he hung in there. We so appreciate him and the supervisors that kept working on doing whatever needed to be done at the towers to get us connected. It was a Saturday, but they all worked on it for hours. I'm impressed! He then left to go to his other scheduled calls late that Saturday. Our internet has been great. We have two remote workers and a gamer - no complaints w/latency issues. read more

We live in the middle of nowhere. Nextlink has bent over backwards to accommodate us for internet service. I do alot of art and online work. I need to the internet for this profession. I've been a customer with Nextlink since November 2013. I first signed up with them when my old housing development had nothing else to offer. To begin, when I first got my internet turned on I was literally shocked at how awesome my Nextlink internet was. To give you the back story. I'm a gamer and I was really worried that Charter was not available at my house due to the messed up construction of my housing community. The previous owner of my house had OneSource and hated it beyond belief. So I gave Nextlink a shot and let me say (at that time) 25 MB download speeds were amazing... yes! That was exciting. The following year Charter came in and I decided to swap over because they offered 50 MB packages. HUGE MISTAKE!!! While that looked great on paper, my internet dropped constantly... as in 2-3 times a day; not to mention super high Ping Tests (I'm talking 76-86). If you're a gamer... you know that's very bad. Having had it with Charter's terrible service I was about to swap back to Nextlink but we decided to sell our house. We moved to a 39 home gated community off HWY 199. When I bought the house I never thought that internet would be an issue since the house was brand new. To my shock. All 39 homes could not get internet. (Everyone I spoke to were using their cell phones as hotspots). I couldn't believe that some residents had lived there for 13-14 years with no internet and were burning through their data plans in 2-3 days. Still in disbelief I started calling around. No one... AT&T, Verizon, Charter etc would bring internet in. The cheapest quote I received was $80,000 from AT&T to bring internet lines into the community. As you read this you're probably wondering why I didn't call Nextlink in the first place. Well I did... however due to the very odd valley my development is located in, the technician couldn't get a signal directly off my house (which is pretty much unheard of for Nextlink). Frustrated and worried I had purchased a new home without internet. I decided to try one last Hail Mary and email the owner of Nextlink, Bill Baker directly. To my surprise. I received an email response at 12:30 AM in the morning. He and I began emailing back and forth until 2 in the morning that night. Who does this? I'll tell you who... a person that not only cares about his customers but his company as well. The next day Bill drove out personally to my property and surveyed the area. What followed next was 2-months of hands on development and planning working with myself and my HOA to run fiber through your neighborhood because the heavy tree cover and topography made wireless service impossible for the neighborhood. What I wasn't expecting is what Bill came up with next. 1000 MB Download/200 MB Upload speeds. Yes... I said it... 1-Gig download speeds!!! At the time of this writing. I'm currently hooked up to 1-Gig speeds and hosting a tower on my property which benefits all 38 other residents in my community. My Ping Test is 3-4. And I am ALWAYS connected. No Down Time! One of the best things about Nextlink is their customer service. Everyone from the office personnel to the technicians... you won't find a better group of people. Several times I would ask the workers how they liked the company. Each one enthusiastically praised the company and the owner himself. I firmly believe that they are all speaking from their heart and not because they work for the company. They just love doing what they do. And it shows in their work ethic. To close, in a day and age where everything is automated. It's refreshing to see a company that is not willing to follow the crowd... but LEAD the industry in exceptional and future proofed internet. Nextlink is the leading provider of state-of-the-art internet services in the Dallas/Fort Worth Complex. Even if you aren't able to get Gig speeds to your house. Even their lower packages will without a doubt rival any internet packages the other big corporations can offer. Especially when reliability counts! Thanks so much to Bill Baker and the entire Nextlink team. Ive spoken to just about all of the 39 residents here. It goes without question. You literally changed the lives of 39 households. We are all very thankful to be customers of the Nextlink family. read more

have been a Nextlink customer for 2 1/2 years. The service initially was good, but declined over time. About 4-6 months ago it became almost worthless. I work from home, and was using my mobile phone hotspot most of the time because Nextlink was so unreliable. 1 month ago I was "upgrade" to their new Tarano service, promising much higher speeds, less noise, and better latency. All true when it works. The new system goes offline about every 2-3 days. I call in, and it gets reset sometime in the next 4-6 hours. As my neighbor pointed out, we do not live in a third-world country, but Nextlinik is providing that level of service. Find and use some body else. read more

Update, just terminated service with Nextlink, they charged a full month of service on my final bill, I only had 3 days of service! Called them about it, they refunded a large portion of the month, then charged me a 400 dollar Early Termination fee but hey I signed the contract so there anyway Spectrum paid my ETF within 10 days ( well refunded to me ). I am literally on the phone with them while writing this review, this is the 6 plus calls we have had with nextlink regarding service. here is the story, our neice started a now job, fully remote and needed to connect a phone through an ethernet port, called nextlink regarding moving the modem from upstairs to downstairs, they at that point stated our current modem (which works amazing since we had it installed in 2016) is 2 years out if date and needed to upgrade. so we made the 45 min venture to nextlink to receive our new modem and mesh unit du to them stating we do not need to relocate the main router. get home install the new equipment (we did this) and no Bueno, not working so we call nextlink, they walk is through the setup process which includes download an app for linksys ect... 30 min later crashes, call nextlink again, they run through a series of steps, different from the first tech...gets the blue light and good to go ok bye.....that evening crashes, call back the next day, took us through a series of steps ( different from the first 2 guys) well the modem must be bad, we will get you another modem and mesh, it's available at 8:30 am to 4pm..oh I have to drive back 45 min again...yes, ok. leave to get new modem, get to nextlink get new modem and mesh unit. get back home, hook it up and nothing RED light, call nextlink 4th tech guy now, walks us through setup (completely different from the first 3) his name was Mathew and he was great... get it all set up worked great for a day and then Red light again, call back to nextlink again new tech, let's run through a series of test, umm ok 5th time now ok let's go every step different from the last...gets it up and running....works great the whole next day and now POW....still a blue light which means connected but a signal that is supposed to be at around 50 is at 9...call back yo next link talked to a gentleman that ran a bunch of tests and says you have a strong signal but is being blocked for some reason, there is nothing more I can do, I will send it upstairs to escalate. ok......about an hour later my neice comes out stating she is on the phone with them again, ok, we want to run some tests and I'm like hold on, how much father to we need to extend this misery, i have talked to numerous techs no resolution, I talked to this last guy who sent it upstairs and now we are back here again, i do not not want to run any more tests, so sir, are you refusing to run tests? are you freaking kidding me here? do not go down that road with me the last tech..........I am that same tech.....well then why are we talking gain, you said you did everything you could do. the problem through all this is, 1..we have been a customer since 2016 and we have to go through all this mess and still cannot get a tech out to the house to fix this. 2. I found out that we lease the modem equipment, so from 2016 to now how much have we paid for a 130.00 modem? 3. we have drove 3 hours combined to get equipment, about 5 hours of dealing with tech support, hooking up, resetting ect... and we still cannot get a single tech to come put hands on the issue but I've spent all this money and time getting equipment and trying to set it up and do not get paid to do this......where is the problem here??? I know at the end of the day my business don mean crap to them because I'm just one account but come on....be professional and allow your customers to matter and provide an exceptional service. read more

Totally unreliable and often slow internet. We "upgraded" to Nextlink and the only upgrade was the price.

I have had this service since 2015. It has has gone through periods of instability and lots of outages. My current issue, the one prompting me to write this review, is my 100mbit upgrade worked for 24hrs. I called tech support and although the initial tech did a good job of troubleshooting and escalating the issue, they have done nothing to resolve it since. I called customer support to check on the progress, they were rude and dismissive. I want to know how long it will take to correct my issue. I want notes and a timeline not a verbal palm to my face. This service is the only game in town, and they know it. I have Starlink on order. When it arrives, I will test it and if Nextlink continues to be condescending and ineffectual, I will gladly drop them. read more

I've had the so called internet service only for 4 days and it's worked 2 days !! But it's all in my area that's available! Nextlink should not even be in business!! 2 tin cans would work better! The government should fine them and shut them down now !!! read more

Just installed my service 2 weeks ago. $500 to install because they needed a point to point, which they never told me it would be double....Was up and running after 8 hrs of installation. Within 2 weeks we had a lightning storm and the tower has been offline for over 48 hrs now. I called and they said the road was too muddy to get out there. I drove my truck right up to the tower gate. When emailing support they will just copy and paste what you can find on their website about outages. Once Starlink is available, I will be done with them as well as I am sure most of their customers. read more

After less than 3 months of service, our internet went down. I reported this by phone and the Customer Service Rep (CSR) I talked to had me reset a few things and then said it was most likely my dish that was causing the problem and they would need to dispatch someone to work on it. He said he would call me back in an hour. I was optimistic. Four hours later, the same CSR called and asked if my internet was working. It wasn't. He said they were still working on it. He said he would call me back in 1 hour. I was still optimistic. Six hours later, I called NextLink again. The CSR (a different one this time) told me they had elevated my issue "to a senior-level technician." The next morning I still had no internet service so I called in again. This time, the CSR just read me the same script from the night before ("we've elevated this up and we're working on it"). 30 hours after first reporting this issue, I completed an online service request. Within a few minutes, a CSR called me and said they would need to dispatch a service tech to our house to fix it. THAT'S WHAT THE FIRST CSR TOLD ME 30 HOURS AGO! He then told me the earliest available appointment would be on February 1st - 2 1/2 weeks from now! I told him I would not accept this and asked to speak to a supervisor. He transferred me but I only received a voice mailbox. I left a detailed message asking a supervisor to contact me as soon as possible. No one has called me back and it is now another day later (2 1/2 days since I first reported this issue. read more

I could not have asked for better service. He went over everything with me and did more than was expected. James as great!

NOT GOOD. TERRIBLE! The nice people will tell you they are working on it for 6 months and never fix it. Don't waste your time and money.

Been a customer for about 2 months. The people are fabulous. The internet service is awful. When the service works speeds are so slow no app will stream. Service calls are available at 7 am . My advice is call ,don't use online reporting. The sales reps offer 2 yr contracts rather than monthly. If this company is the only internet access available pay extra for monthly. That way the service can be easily canceled when a decent provider gets federal money, like Nextlink did, and reliable, affordable service is offered in your area. read more

Only game in town. When we connect, it isn't awful, but I get the speed I pay for about half the time. I'm submitting this review from my phone as we've been down for a couple of hours. I live in the country and Nextlink seems to have the best speeds offered in my area. When the Internet is available, I am satisfied with the speeds. When access becomes unavailable there is no communication from Nextlink...I look up their website and search for outages, which they do list affected towns. There's no reason I can find for the outage cause and no ETA for coming back up. There's no benefit I've experienced in calling Support, as they don't have a cause or ETA either. I work from home and Internet is critical for my job. It would be helpful if Nextlink took a proactive approach and notified potentially affected Customers via email or automated call. It would also be helpful if they were able to resolve issues quicker. At this time, I'm coming up on 48 hours of outage. I've written two emails to their Support team asking for updates on the outage and estimated time to return of service. It would be a benefit to Customers if Internet service providers were required by law to refund the hours of lost access. That way they would have a financial incentive to bring service back up as quickly as possible. Too many people nowadays rely on Internet access to do their jobs. read more
