It is sad to be held hostage by the only provider available when you live in the country. We had Nextlink for over 2 years and had very slow mps that never lived up to the promise of what we were paying for. We decided to stop and try T-Mobile. The speeds on T-Mobile were for faster on downloads. Unfortunately, the ping and uploads were not fast enough. We called Nextlink back and even though the pole is still on our roof we have to repay for the installation charge. And now (even the pole has been there for 2 years) we have to pay an extra $20 monthly charge for having a pole on the roof. But the issue that really, really has me furious is how much we have been paying. Our monthly bill for the last 2 years has been $149.95 for 50mps. They apparently dropped their price quite a while ago to $89.95. So for 2 years we have been paying more than other customers and I was told unless I called and requested the lower price that it was too bad for me. I don't check prices every month for lower prices- I expect a company to have integrity and lower my price to the same as others are paying. They also kept my 150.00 for the next month that was not used for a "30 day notice". read more

Nextlink was recommended to me. Dealing with them was one of the worst experiences I've ever endured. I have very few choices in north central Texas. But I'd rather go to my grave without INTERNET service than call them again. They endlessly wasted my precious time and tried to bully me. They just insisted on selling me a TRIPOD installation on my roof even though we have a perfectly good antenna tower already in place which would have been an easy install. But I figured out that they get paid on the installation of the tripod. Funny thing, I would have paid the fee just to get them to install on my tower which was easy rather than ruining my new roof with nails and an ugly tripod and guide wires. Also, they tell you they won't come take it down if you change providers. Why? Because the holes in the roof will invariably leak. And they just don't care. They treat their rural customers like garbage. I was willing and able to spend untold dollars just to have a connection but they were just sure they could talk me into their boondoggle of a tripod instead of just doing as asked and sending 2 people to install the poll and dish on an ALREADY stable, cemented into the ground antenna tower which the installer admitted was perfectly stable and bolted to roof soffit. The last straw was the lie they concocted as cover rather than admit they were only trying to get an extra set fee, they told me to have a weld done to a structurally sound 50 foot tower, as though I'm not a sentient human being. How much will that cost me? Oh, and where will I find someone who can do that for NO REASON out in rural Texas? I don't mind paying for what I want, but I do mind having these hooligans put their hands in my pockets to steal form me and tell me they're just being friendly. I do mind being told I have to buy something I don't need to entertain these tiny minded tyrants who are gatekeepers to internet to poor people in rural north central Texas. I am a business customer (pay extra to get better internet) and had great service from September when we started until around thanksgiving this year. Now, it is pretty much unusable in the evening and poor at best in the daytime hours. Called tech support And they admitted that our tower is "saturated". They did send someone out to try to optimize our set up but it didn't work. I'm sure it will not work until they upgrade their oversold tower. Rise broadband did the very same thing. In any event, if you have another option for internet, I would suggest you choose that alternative. Next link, is simply oversold in the Annetta/Aledo area of Parker County. I would like to say that initially, CS did a good job and was responsive but their is only so much they can do when their towers are saturated. We did have Skywave who sold out to Netlink, probably just for the money, and didn't consider the effect on the customers. We pay $60/month for service that doesn't work. Nextlink provides fast but unreliable line of sight WiFi internet service. When it is working I get fast speeds 25m download 5 up. Over the past month we have had frequent outages for 24 hours. I've attempted to call but no answer or terminal hold. read more

I would give them fewer stars if I could. They bought The company I had been using forthe last five years. They came out to work on my antenna, After six weeks of not having service, they told me it would be $200, they charged me $250 plus tax. Then they started charging me an extra $20 a month for not being on a contract even though already met my contract obligations. When I spoke with the person in the billing office, she confirmed that had a originally been a nextlink client I would not be being charged the extra $20. The reason I haven't signed the contract, is that I am unsure how long we are going to be at the location and they don't have a move out of ourservice area clause in their contract. After nearly a year of trying to find out why I can't watch Twitch streams at 1080p I got them to admit to throttling. I signed up for a commercial account because I was told by several reps that doing so would let me avoid peak-usage slowdowns and it has for the most part but I'm paying $170 per month for 20up/20down and I can't even watch Overwatch League in 1080p and because thats the resolution the source broadcast is in the down-scaling to 720p makes the details like text and the match timer impossible to read. When I first got the service with a residential account I was able to watch 1080 streams and higher for hours with no buffering, I had 3 going at the same time on different devices and they all worked perfectly for months. The star is for the outstanding customer service I've gotten when I had some speed issues and the tech that installed, they were all fantastic but throttling is a deal breaker and especially when I am paying so much extra to avoid it, or so I thought. read more

I have had a business account since the beginning of 2018 and have been paying the price for the 35 plan. When Nextlink came for my installation they informed me that the could only offer me the 25 plan and that the tower would be immediately upgraded to meet my requirements. Now 7 months later still no update to the 35 plan but I am still being charged the 35 plan rate. My business representative (Mark McDonald) did not return messages or phone calls NEVER. Multiple data loss i.e. internet not working and multiple troubleshooting attempts while spending hours on the phone with the IT staff. They even came to my house on two different occasions and could not resolve. Don't waste your money and time especially if you have a business that relies on internet capability like mine does. Warning Texas customers STAY AWAY! This is a HORRIBLE company!!! with absolutely no customer service!!!! They will not do the "right thing" First, the installer showed up alone to install the equipment. my husband had to "help" him which included my husband having to pull wires in the attic and he was even asked to go on the roof himself. After an almost 4 hr install time, we were insured that all the speeds were great(we paid for the highest upload and download speeds), as we are just moving we did not have our personal computer equipment to test the speeds and took his word for it. The next morning we brought over our laptops and began trying to use the internet. we were able to browse from the room that had the router in, it but were not able to watch videos, as they just kept buffering. Two rooms from the router, we were able to get virtually no signal at all. We called and spoke to the tech team who informed us that they could see through their testing that the signal was almost non-existent in my sons room two doors down from where we had the router located and their solution was that we could purchase or rent some extenders from them so that we could get signal through the entire home. The home is only a 2700 sq ft farmhouse... we should not need extenders. We informed them that we would like to cancel the service because we both work from home and require dependable internet. We were then informed that even though the service did not work, and had been "installed" less than 24 hrs that we would not be receiving a refund for the cost of installation which was $100... we spoke to several people in the billing and customer service departments to no resolution. After spending nearly 4 hrs testing and on the phone with Nextlink employees I was told that a manager would call me back to discuss further. I received no return call so after almost 24 hrs I called back and spoke to Kaitlyn a Lead Rep in billing. I explained the whole situation again to her including the part where my husband had to help the installer. She said she would reach out to dispatch to confirm this and be getting back to me. She called back about 15 minutes later and stated that Brian Bug, the installer, denied that my husband had helped him at all and said that he had completed the entire installation alone. This is a total lie. I guess Brian forgot that we also had other workers at the house while he was there and they can confirm my husband's account of the story... now we are waiting for another manager "Charles" to call us back... total waste of everyone's time. How can you charge for an installation if the service does not even work???? Don't make the same mistake we did!!! Avoid this company like the plague! Horrible customer service! We recently moved and signed up for the Megalink50 (50mbps speed) service. In the evenings when we are able to watch TV, we consistently stream 1-5 mbps. Shows are constantly stopped every few minutes because the download is so slow. For $150/mo we are not getting what we paid for. I called tech support who could not give me an answer why or a solution and said he would escalate the concern upstream and someone would call me back which nobody did. Not too happy. read more

If I could give zero or negative stars, I would. First, I had to wait over THREE WEEKS for installation. I work out of my home, and had to explain to my employer why I had to work off a mobile hot spot for that time, with substandard speed. When I signed up, I was told I was in a great position and would have excellent 25mbps service. When the installer came, and after a period of time, I was informed that I needed a "Rocket" booster dish, which of course costs extra. Then after another period of time was informed that they can't install anything because the signal is too weak after all. Run. As fast as you can. read more

We got Nextlink after having had Hughesnet, which was the most awful internet provider ever. We got the most expensive plan and it worked great in the small house we were temporarily living in while we built the house behind it we are in now. We moved into the larger house in November and we cannot seem to get a solution from Nextlink to get the dish moved 100 feet to our new house. Our son ran a cable from house to house and moved the router back here...but I need my dish moved. The small house is going to be torn down. We had techs out twice. We even thought we had a tower set to be built, but then the guy who offered to do it backed out. I used to be on Windstream, through a buried phone line and I miss it. read more

They turn off their phones constantly, when theirs phones are on it is an automated voice and their emails respond to you with an automated email as well. Where we live - between the border of Fort Worth and Aledo, is in somewhat of a 'dead zone' for phone and internet service. I called several smaller companies as none of the 'big' ones served our area. When I called NextLink, they told me up front that it was unlikely they could get line of sight to the current tower- but they came out and tried anyway. A day or so later they let us know a new tower less than a mile from our home would be up and running soon. As soon as the tower was active, they called to get our installation completed. At every step, the employees were kind, patient and knowledgeable. Yesterday we had our first 'outage' and after extensive troubleshooting by phone, they said a truck would need to come out. --Note-- I have high school students in my home and almost all their work is via Google Classroom, YouTube, etc. This morning they called and let me know it was back up and working. Based on my experience with NextLink, I know someone went above and beyond so my kids could get their school work done. (That was my major concern). I know this review is long, probably boring and with nary a clever comment. However, I feel people these days will complain about anything and fail to even recognize hard work because they Don't accept that their immediate need isn't all that's going on. read more

I was so excited about finding Nextlink! Boy was I disappointed! They came out and installed. Working fine until the next day. Then couldn't get internet to work. Technician stopped by about a week later looking for a piece of equipment they had lost when installing at our house. We told him it wasn't working and he said he would let his boss know. Several days later we called Nextlink because we still had no internet. They set up for a technician to come to the house a few days later. The day the appt was scheduled for I got a call from the technician to see if internet was working because he said it had been fixed remotely. I told him I wasn't at home but there was someone there for the appt but she wouldn't understand how to check it to see if it was working or not. He said he would go by there. I got home from work that evening and still not working. I called Nextlink again and was told they would have to escalate it to a different division. A few days later called and they said they were trying to get it fixed remotely. Then received a call on a Saturday and I was out of town (They called our land line and not my cell). I called back on Monday and they said they would send out a technician but couldn't send one for 10 DAYS!! By this time it has been a month with no internet. Then they want to tell me 10 days! They had already drafted my account for 2nd payment - I told them I was done! I wanted to cancel and get a refund. Customer service is HORRIBLE! I definitely do not recommend Nextlink!! read more

The service seemed good at first but then kept losing connection. Called them and said it my equipment after I was told what I had purchased was better than what they provided. I went through with them on the phone and seemed to work again only to go back to losing connection again. Found better provider so went to cancel and had to pay for an extra month because of their 30 day advance notice for cancellation. read more

They lied to me all day saying they were "working on it" and then I was finally told technicians don't work there on Sundays. After having me call back 3 times to check on the status. I called Nextlink two weeks ago to set up an installation date and the soonest date they had was two weeks out on Dec. 5th. I asked to be added to their will call list since I desperately needed the service for my two children who are in online high school classes needed the internet and we had already waited on two other internet companies to come out for installation dates but were unable to get a clear signal from our location. I waited on them most of the day, December 5th as they were supposed to arrive between 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. The installer never showed or called. I called the next day to ask what happened. The man who answered said there had been a service call emergency and I had been rescheduled to the 15th. I was furious and asked why they would do that without calling me and after I had already waited two weeks! He said they called me on the 3rd to reschedule and left a voicemail which I never received. Then I said how did you know about an emergency two days in advance. He couldn't explain that but said they were offering me $10 off my installation. I laughed! Really? $10 off for waiting another 10 days after waiting 2 weeks already. I asked for them to move up the date. He said they had nothing available. I asked to speak to a supervisor. He put me on hold and came back saying none were available they were all in a meeting, but created a ticket so a supervisor could call me as soon as they came out of the meeting. Well it's been over an hour and I've had time to write this entire complaint using my cell phone typing with one finger! And, the longer it takes for them to respond the more time I have to leave reviews about my experience on multiple sites. *Update* After a couple hours I did get a call from a manager who only continued to offer me $10 off installation and repeatedly told me that when a current customer has problems with their service they have to give them priority over new installations, and how once I'm a customer that I would in fact receive that same treatment. In the meantime however I guess I wasn't a priority. Right before I hung up I did let him know that I had already put a negative review online. Then, about an hour after that phone conversation I received a call back from that supervisor. He had decided to go to management and ask if he could offer me any other solution. Surprisingly, he was now available to offer me a next installation free of charge. I was appreciative and took the appointment for the next day from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. The installer called me the next day at 11:30 to ask me my address and how to get to my house. They arrived at exactly 12 p.m. and were here for about three hours doing the install which meant I was restricted to staying home from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. And, the installer seemed extremely confused when we asked him to drill the hole and come in through our closet wall instead of our bedroom wall which would mean the wire would be visible coming across the room to the spot where the router would be placed. It was the same outside wall he wanted to drill into only a few feet down, but he eventually understood what we wanted and proceeded to do so. Eventually the install was done but my husband ended up having to miss an appointment for work because they were here so late and he didn't want to leave me and my son alone in the house with two men. I know that is not necessarily something he had to do but felt better doing it. Once they were done, they informed us we needed to pay. I was confused because the supervisor had said it was free. But, apparently I misunderstood. We were still responsible for paying the first month up front which I was a little nervous about based on everything I had been through with their customer service so far I wondered if their internet service would be comparable. We have had the service for a little less than 24 hours and it seems to be working well for everything that we want to do, even streaming movies without delay. But this morning I was contacted by someone in upper management through a message on Yelp asking me if I was satisfied with the outcome would I consider changing my review. So that is what I have done in updating it with this second part of my review. Very long story made short, they seriously need to work on their basic customer service issues at Nextlink and until you make their mistakes public they are unwilling to fix them. read more

We are a business customer with Nextlink and received consistently good speed and excellent support when we first began using them. During the daytime our speed varies but it drops off severely at night. Outages are also becoming more frequent. As a business, we pay premium rates for our service and were told we would get priority support when needed. Now we have long wait times on hold or for call backs before we are able to speak with anyone and contact with management is non-existent. If things improve I will gladly update this review. As it stands, I would not recommend Nextlink to anyone needing high speed, dependable connectivity. Look elsewhere. read more

we have had this service for 7 months. At first it was fine and we were pleased, even recommending the company to neighbors. Over the past 4-5 months the quality of service has plummeted. Poor internet connections, poor customer service, no shows with technicians at our house. Excuses have been all over the spectrum from the tower had been hacked and they were installing better security, they were moving us to another part of the tower, it could be our own equipment, etc. Our service is very sporadic and their customer service is even worse. Right now I am on hold trying to speak to upper management...about 5 minutes and counting and still no one has come on the line. Extremely frustrated! We do not recommend this company. Update 2 hours later: I've never received a call from the customer service supervisor to give me the management name/number, nor have I heard from the "Management". They sent a tech guy out so we will see if things are better. I sure hope so. read more

Both my husband and I work from home so quality internet service is paramount. We pay for the very highest priced monthly plan so we can get the fastest service available to us which is $167 per month. Today, we have a power outage and Nextlink tells us they cannot come out to fix the problem for 11 days. We are told it will be 11 days because of their current outages and new customer installations. An 11 day wait time for an established customer is absolutely unacceptable and horrible customer service. read more

I have had Nextlink since August 2019. I have the highest speed available in my area. However, numerous times, some as often as 2-3 time a week I have zero service for 15 minutes or more, and many other times I have zero service from 20 seconds to 3-4 minutes. The only reason I didn't give them a 1 rating was due to the fact that when it does work, I do get the speed. I think I signed up for that speed all the time. read more

Started out great last year. Since June has been as bad as Skybeam. Frequent poor internet service, or complete loss of connectivity. Down or severely underperforming more than half the week. Multiple calls to customer service result in "tickets being put out to the tower" and a call back in a few days saying everything should be working....then the next day its broken again. Bottom line is if you are wanting to stream music, video, play games, or connect remotely to your work (you know...do internet things) this is not the ISP for you. Weatherford is fortunate enough to be covered by 3 or 4 wireless ISPs now...I would look into a different one. Good customer service doesn't really cut it when the service you are selling never works correctly. read more
