I'm very sad to be leaving such a bad review but twice now I've had issues getting a hold of someone and to clarify my medical benefits. Front desk- rude AF! Today I was told that they are busy and to leave a voicemail next time. I left a voicemail last week before closing about my aligners. ONE WEEK could shift my teeth in the wrong direction & if they are too busy to call back - why don't they find a more effective way to take care of their #1- oh yeah, the customers. Another time, I switched insurance and my insurance covered two cleanings per year. My gosh the amount of times I called the dentist and my insurance back and forth for a cleaning.... I just saw other Yelp reviews today, but have been coming for cleanings past year or more. I do like Dr Alex Portnoy (sp?) and most of the dental staff. Dr Alex takes the time to explain everything in detail and I enjoy the conversations between the staff during cleanings. It's the worst when i can feel tension between coworkers. Dr Robert (Bob) the orthodontist- also nice, however I got aligners and the past 5 weeks have been a hell of a struggle for a new patient. I have been on Google searching for answers, tips for newbies and ways to help get through the pain. Yesterday I had an appointment at this dental clinic, but the experience was very unpleasant. The front desk staff did not look at me until I spoke first, and one woman spoke to me in an aggressive and rude manner. My name was not on the list, even though I had made an appointment in advance. She then rudely asked why I came at all and what the purpose of my visit was, even though everything had already been explained when I booked the appointment. I only came for a simple check-up and one filling. Because of this disrespectful attitude, I decided to leave without receiving any service. I hope the clinic improves its customer service. I understand that misunderstandings can happen, but please improve your communication with patients first of all. Also, please make sure that the person who schedules appointments explains everything clearly from the beginning, instead of saying "yes, of course, everything will be done" and that the insurance is accepted. After I spent a lot of my time coming to your clinic, I was spoken to in a disrespectful tone and made to feel as if I had no reason to be there. They treat patients carelessly -- and I ended up with an infection. The first time I went to the clinic, I saw a doctor who laid out a treatment plan that completely met my expectations: to fully replace an old filling (over 10 years old) and carefully treat a side tooth. I scheduled an appointment with him, but the reception desk canceled it without notifying me. I showed up anyway and thought, "Okay" (although I should have gone somewhere else right then). They rescheduled me. When I came back, I was placed with a completely different doctor, Guillermo. In just 20 minutes, he worked on three teeth. What kind of treatment is that--rushing through and causing more harm than good? The work was extremely superficial. For the tooth that needed the filling replaced, I specifically asked him to change it completely, but he refused, saying it was fine as it was. As a result, I endured pain for a couple of months until it became unbearable. When I went back, the X-ray showed an infection under the tooth. Instead of addressing the issue, they sent me home, saying insurance wouldn't cover the treatment, and only prescribed antibiotics. I've never heard of such nonsense--treating a tooth infection with just antibiotics. Then what are dentists for? Now the proper treatment costs $1,600, and I may lose my only chewing tooth. Lesson learned: if you end up with the wrong doctor, walk away immediately. read more

BEWAREIMPORTANT Hello, if you don't want your visit to the doctor to end with a call to the police, don't go to this clinic. I came to straighten my teeth and ended up losing 2 nerves in healthy teeth. It all started when I was sent for an examination before getting braces. During the examination, I was told that I had 5 cosmetic fillings. 2 of them were successful and the remaining 3 (which we did on the same day, it's worth noting that they took 12 minutes) were done quickly and eventually, my tooth started to hurt. I made an appointment to check what happened to it. It turned out that the nerve needed to be pulled out (in the tooth where the cosmetic filling was). After the doctor found out that my tooth continued to hurt, he quickly asked the assistant to bring me a paper to sign that I had no complaints. I couldn't even imagine that it was because the person had mixed up the tooth from which he was pulling the nerve out. That is, I was deprived of 2 healthy teeth. Dr. Gary Beyer and Dr. Alexander Portnoy are responsible for this. These two pseudo-doctors spent my money, and when I politely asked to make me a second tooth, without a single complaint about this unimaginable mistake... I took my grandmother to this Next Gen dental place in wheeling. And let me tell you, it was one of the worst experiences we've ever had. This is not even an exaggeration.I felt so bad for how they treated my grandmother. Obviously she's an elder and by this age, her teeth won't be perfect. But the dental hygienist who was cleaning her teeth made all her gum area bleed and when the dentist came, she started talking about her PTO. And the dentist was so rude and because there was so much blood, he told the dental hygienist that he couldn't examine my grandmothers teeth properly, and she just stood there doing nothing. I felt so horrible that I even took someone I love to this place. The dentist was rude and asked me why her teeth were in poor shape. Well she's a 90 year old elder, so obviously her teeth are not something you'd see on a younger person. Overall, very unprofessional dentist and dental hygienist. Very rude, careless, and not understanding of a persons age or condition. I honestly would not recommend going here if you want a healthcare professional who ACTUALLY CARES. They shouldn't even be in this field if they don't know how to care for a real human. read more

It's been a little while since I had a cleaning! And the staff was amazing! Starting from when I called Jennifer was great at getting back to me with information to what I was able to do with my insurance and all my benefits. Very informative of all the procedures and options I had. Fabiola and Monica also assisted as they were very busy, what I loved the most is that they had a great space for waiting area and they all communicated with each other on every patient and myself of course. Nahomi was the young lady who performed the cleaning for me and she was great, she told me every step of the procedure while it was being done to me. Offered different options to anything I asked as far as the dental work as I am doing currently Invisalign. Most importantly Dr. Beyer very professional came to say hi as well as checking on the work being done and informed me of the procedure progress and how my teeth are looking. Have one cavity so we will be taking care of it soon : ( on the next appointment! He was attentive and made me feel welcomed! Would not recommend! First, dealing with the receptionists is horrible - anytime you call or go in, their tone makes it seem like you're bothering them! The only friendly folks are the actual doctors and hygienists/assistants. Second, communication about billing is non-existent. You can pay for a service at the office, and then receive an additional bill in the mail a few weeks later. They will not let you know if they are "out of network" with your insurance (even though they were on the insurance provider's approved list). There's some disconnect there. They will also charge you a surprise additional $90 "emergency appointment" fee even if the appointment is made over 48 hours prior! The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because I had a small chip in a tooth and the doctor fixed it beautifully. You can't tell where my tooth ends and the porcelain material begins. I visited this place in the hope to relieve pain and suffering. However, I had to: 1. Reschedule appointment a week from consultation, because of retrieve specialist was not available. Nextgen promised the presence of this specialist when I have scheduled this appointment. 2. Paid a deposit in order to reschedule. 3. The dental assistants called me "stupid" right in my face and in front of other customers. 4. I have a hard time getting my deposit back. The only star that I am leaving for the professionality and courtesy of the doctor who did a consultation. If you would like to be humiliated, if you worth your private information and dental record, avoid this place at any cost. I complained to management about this incident and heard no words of apology or anything for almost 3 weeks. I assume that this is the way they run business. For the owners: Check your appointment schedule. It's not about the doctor, it's about the way nurses behave and how management reacts to it. read more

I just took my braces off after 2.5 years of wearing them. When I first came to the clinic, I was amazed by how nice and professional Dr.Beyer was during my wisdom teeth removal. Be took extra time to explain to me and was not hesitant towards helping me with payment options. After my wisdom teeth been removed with incredible patience by Dr.Beyer, Dr.Weber was excellent in explaining how each type if braces work.He was very attentive and friendly every visit. My experience with NextGen wasn't the best. I got my braces with them years ago and decided to go back when my teeth started shifting again. We started my Invisalign treatment a couple of years ago and every time I would go in for my new trays or for a follow up they had no idea what was going on. One time they even re-ordered new trays because they didn't know they already had the trays they were supposed to give me next. They also made it seem like I was supposed to know that they already had them? Most of the ladies that work there are really nice but Dr.Weber is a pain to work with. I tried to address several concerns with him with no positive outcome. After spending so much money on Invisalign, I'm really disappointed with this place. read more

Two weeks ago, I rushed to see Dr. Gary Beyer for an examination of what I thought was just one small speck on my tooth. Let me be frank, I neglected my routine check-ups for long enough time, and would probably have found myself in a much worse situation later. I had many excuses but let's just skip that part and instead move forward to where I was in a chair and Dr. Beyer was saving my teeth, my overall health and money, of course, first by administering local anesthesia, and then by deep cleaning and removing the two wisdom teeth that weren't worth saving anyway. Never have I had an experience like that before. Let's put it this way: I've always had respect for the profession but obviously wasn't a fan; now, for the next session I have no fear at all -- the whole thing took only about 45 minutes, and I didn't feel much. After all was done, I only had the strongest words to express my admiration -- such was my excitement -- that one wouldn't post here without the parental advisory sticker. But Dr. Beyer really did some sorcery there, or maybe he's just the best dentist I have ever met. Other than that, assistants and receptionists are awesome, and they provide great service and always there to cheer you up which basically reflects attitude of everyone who works in the clinic. Prepare to be shamed. No educating on oral health whatsoever. Went to a different dentist and learned so much about my teeth. I was shamed for going to get my teeth cleaned while pregnant. They questioned me multiple times why I was there and what I expected them to do. Patient Beware!!!! My daughter went to NextGen Dental for her first cleaning with this office. During the exam they identified a cavity that later turned into a root canal. They completely overcharged for this procedure and failed to give her a complete cost for the entire treatment. They completed the root canal but only did a temporary filling and wanted charge even more money above and beyond what they had quoted her. They failed to disclose the total costs for treatment beyond the initial root canal including filling and crown. She was able to get the rest of the treatment done from another local dentist at a fraction of the cost of what was quoted by NextGen. We have given their office multiple opportunities to respond to make this right by giving back a partial refund for the out of pocket expense incurred not to mention the additional time and energy required to get the full treatment taken care of. They have been unwilling to accept any responsibility for ways that their office and team could have and should have done a better job communicating the full scope and cost of the entire treatment. Receptionist was very impatient and started making faces for very basic questions on the quote. I was trying to understand what component of the treatment costs more as some are just preventive measures , some are to be done immediately . I was suggested filings , but was never explained what options I have with regards to type of fillings .First of all a patient wouldnt even know that different types of fillings exists and second, I shouldn't have to come home and read an article on types of fillings - I expect my doctor to present these options and give basic information for me to research further . The doctor also suggested that we remove all the wisdom teeth . I have no problems with them . I think the recovery and the pain involved in these sort of procedures need to be clearly explained. That was not done . They quoted 200 for each filling - basing on my research this is on the higher side especially when we dont know the details of fillings that will be used . I am guessing if a patient doesn't question , then mostly he would get the cheapest filling There was also some sort of rush to make you book the appointment for the procedure . Even though i found groupons for 50 bucks , I paid 139$ expecting better care Experience with the actual cleaning and xrays was good. both doctor and dental assistant were nice in these areas. Overall I cannot recommend this place . Most of the reviews seem to be for Dr Beyer , if you have to go this place - may be ask for him . read more

I went in not to long ago with the smallest chip off my front left tooth. I asked if there was anything we could do for now to fix it and what will happen in the future. I was told there was nothing he could do and was given the worlds worst sales pitch by a dentist that Was not my dentist and never worked on my teeth that I needed 6 front veneers. He told me my mollars were "pristine" which is for a fact not true they have multiple cavities and fillings. I do not know why my actual dentist there did not tell me I didn't have a cusp on some of my teeth this whole time and why this random dentist did when trying to tell me I need veneers. My teeth have always looked like that I had no idea apparently two of my front teeth were chipped and didn't have a cusp for years. I went for a second consultation somewhere else, I got my chip filled in and the back of my tooth filled for temporary usage with absolutely no problem I have no idea why it's so hard to get chipped teeth filled at Nextgen for temporary reinforcement/solution. Also was told I absolutely did not need 6 veneers that was the last of options given to me. For future recommendation to the doctor who tried telling me I need veneers. You might not want to tell a patient "you know how many people would kill to have your teeth" when trying to sell them front veneers. Don't you think that's a bit ironic? read more

This 5 stars review is for the back staff. Both the dentists we have seen were great, the woman which I forgot the name ( I apologise!) we seen her once and Dr Sam. My daughter is super shy and will not talk in anyway. With this, it is very difficult for them to communicate with her.They both handled it really great and that I appreciate. The dental assistants who assist during those times were nice too. I wish I can say the same thing for the front staff. I am sure it is not easy to deal with people everyday. But I just wish they would be more welcoming. We have never receive a single smile from the front. The first time I thought its just a bad day. I don't get how all of the other reviews are so good. First, I waited 30 minutes before getting called in. This was my first time there because I had to find a new dentist and no one asked me any questions, no one greeted me when i walked in, and I don't even know the doctors name. The ONE thing he said to me was, "so how was your visit". That's it. My cleaning only took 5 minutes which is not normal. I'm usually at the dentist for at least 35 minutes to get a good thorough cleaning. They didn't make a copy of my insurance, nothing. You go to the dentist every 6 months for a reason. A good cleaning. I can clean my own teeth with tools for 5 minutes at home and not go to the dentist. Most pointless visit ever read more

My family has been going to Dr Beyer for several years and he is always very friendly and thorough with his exam, as well as explaining procedures and diagnosis. My daughter had an abscess during the early months of the pandemic and they were able to safely have her come in right away to examine and extract the tooth. I have also been seeing Dr Weber for Invisalign for 3 years with good results. My only complaint would be with their one hygienist who is not so nice and rough when she is working on my teeth. read more

I am really picky when it comes to choosing a dentist (I mean why not). My work had just changed insurance carriers so I had to switch my dentist, however, I wasn't sold on my previous dentist. I needed some emergency work done on a tooth that cracked and the nerve was exposed. This happened at 11pm on a Monday night. I found Dr. Beyer's office online and got an appointment right away the next day. I was patched up and I had a tremendous experience. I needed more work done on my teeth and ha a tooth that didn't know was able of saving. Dr. Beyer was able to save the tooth! He ensures you're comfortable and not in pain. I have been a patient of Dr Gary Beyer for almost 25 years now. When I first came to him as a child, my teeth and gums were in horrible shape. I needed help. Lots of deep cleanings, cavities, crowns, a few root canals, and a few wisdom teeth that needed to get pulled. Over the next few years, Dr Beyer not only saved my teeth, but explained to me how to take proper care of them with timely cleanings, proper brushing techniques and flossing, to prevent problems in the future.
