Here's why I put Corley into my strongly trusted set of service companies... 3 guys from a DIFFERENT company stopped by saying while working on a neighbor's roof they saw a flashing on my roof that needed to be nailed down. I told them to go ahead and when they came down, they said my chimney cap was cracked and there was a good deal of rotting of the wood frame inside it. They had photos and quoted repair options from $7K to more than 3 times that amount. I called Corley to get their opinion, they came out within a day or two, and they said my chimney cap was 100% fine! It turns out, my chimney from my 100+ year old house doesn't even have a wooden frame inside it. And they pointed out a different problem, a real one -- I had a metal chimney flue and they saw it was rusted/cracked, but that wasn't in their menu of services . So not only did they save me from the fraudsters, but they saved me from potential damage from the damaged flue which I had fixed. And they didn't charge me a dime for this roof check. There was a time also within the first 5 years of my roof that some flashing or something slipped, and I did have a small leak. I had to listen to one particular drip so long that it gave me nightmares. I even had a basement flood that cost me $15,000 because of the gutters being messed up. But every single person I hired insisted they were correctly cleaned and aligned and that I was asking for too much. For $150 The Gutter Guys ACTUALLY cleaned and aligned the gutters PROPERLY. They threw in new screws to hold the downspouts together and re-secured them to the exterior walls. I have been telling everyone to hire these guys. I didn't even have to be home when they did their thing. I just left a check taped to my front door. I almost never write bad Yelp reviews and I have been sitting on writing this review for a while but I had to because I am still so upset with the quality of service. When giving me my estimate, they sent a real professional to actually survey the property, go up on the roof, take measurements, etc. I had a really good feeling about the company. However, the person who gave me the estimate quit the company and I was reassigned to someone else who never physically came by to see the property. On the day of the installation, the team that they sent had no familiarity with the specifics of the project (which was attic insulation, gutter installation and rain barrel installation). I had to explain everything to them all over again, like they'd never heard of it before. It didn't help that they didn't really speak English and I had to show them what a rain barrel was with hand gestures. The workers installed my backyard rain barrel backwards, and my front yard rain barrel upside down. They took bricks from another part of my yard to mount my rain barrel without asking. The worst part by far: One of the workers, without asking, cut down my Virginia creeper plant that I had been growing and training for three years. It covered the front of my house and attracted birds and butterflies in the spring. Now it's destroyed. There was literally no reason to do this, he didn't ask for permission or anything (he said "it's poison!" when I asked why he did it; it's not, it's a harmless native plant). My house used to be unique, now it looks like every other house on the block. This last offense was intolerable, I called the company and demanded they sent someone down. They ultimately discounted the project by $2600, which was fine but did not compensate me for my loss. This was the first time any supervisor actually came to the property. It was clear the supervisor didn't know the workers at all, and he couldn't communicate with them any better than I could. The management had no interest in coming by to check work after it was complete, either. I had to reach out to them to request that they do so. They were perfectly content to just let their workers do it and leave for the day. Ultimately, they did the job that was on the contract, hence the two stars: they insulated my attic, installed gutters, and installed rain barrels. But everything else was a terrible experience. I wish I could undo hiring them in the first place.
