I dropped my key in the early Dropbox so I could have it looked at first thing. Since I work nights I was getting off work and was very tired. After running an errand i returned to the auto port to see where in line my car was and they hadn't even taken it out of the little sealed bag I placed it in. I gathered from there reaction after questioned that they had forgotten about it sitting on the desk. 2 hours later I asked them the status and the tech said he had some feedback for me. So I talked to the rep and he was surprised that no one had called me about my car. They then spent 15 minutes trying to find my paperwork. Three hours later and after I had to ask them two more times my car was done. They were always polite and seemed to car about my situation, so at the most, just follow up with them. read more

I can't express how disappointed I am with this business. I assumed since they were on base, they would have technicians that would be more than helpful to a military member. Actually it was quite the opposite... they knew they were the closest option and charge quite a bit for very slow service. The saddest part of all this was when I had a leaking hose from my radiator. The hose burst and I paid them $90 for a diagnosis. Once they found the problem I asked specific questions, but they didn't want to answer them, giving me nonsense excuses like "we can't tell you that information for illegal reasons". They wouldn't even tell me the item number for the hose. Out the door The hose was ~$300, and I fixed in the parking lot for ~$75. They prey on mil members. Crap service and poor business practices. read more

Very pleased all around. 24/7 gas with credit that is cheaper than what you find in town. The service I requested on my car was completed in time, at a fair price and some of the maintenance I thought I needed they told me wasn't necessary! An honest mechanic! I'll come here any day for that! My only beef is I wish they would do a better job determining eligibility here as I am quite certain there are ineligible patrons purchasing gas. read more

#1 time--I took my vehicle there for simple brake job. Had to go back twice because the something was rattling (pads I guess) and making all kinds of noise. Finally gave up and took it somewhere else to get fixed. #2 time-convenient location so I took truck in for a flat repair and oil change. They called and told me that tire was beyond repair and would need a new one. I told them no thanks.Took it to Hernandez Tire shop in Otay and they repaired it for 10 bucks!!! I walked in to the store and felt out of place when the 2 gentlemen there were speaking in their native tongue. No "hello" or anything. I was looking for the correct oil for my car and got no help. I finally found the oil I needed and walked up to the register. One of the guys, while still speaking in a foreign language to his friend, he approached the register, he didn't say a word to me, just carried on like he was. He didn't even tell me how much it was, just pointed to the credit card machine and continued his conversation. I was given my bag of merchandise and receipt and he took off to continue chatting away with his friend. Horrible service! The reason I gave it 2-stars is because i found the oil I needed, and because they have the best prices on gas in town. read more

I have possibly the worst luck in the world. Two flat tires in less than two months. The first tire fortunately (yet still unfortunately) popped on base early in the morning. Got to the autoport by 6:30am. These guys don't open until 7am (just a head's up). Turns out that it takes over 10 1/2 hours to put on four new tires that they have in stock. So here I am again, waiting on them to only repair my flat this morning. We will see how long this one takes. So here I wait, 4 hours and counting. I regret having bought my tires here since they are under warranty, however it's been the cheapest route. UPDATE: Took only 5 hours this time! The fellas at the service desk have been nothing but helpful, which I truly appreciate! Still, with everything said and done, my advice is to stay away. You'll most likely find a better deal for whatever service you need at a much faster place somewhere else. read more

The price is very good for the service. About 44$ for an oil change tire check and top off all fluids!!! Would have gotten a 5 star but I asked the clerk how busy they were and he said dirt slow. So I wouldn't think it would take so long. Well they didn't even hoist my car to drain the oil for an hour and a half. Now it's been draining for an hour and I'm still waiting. I've been here for 2 hours and a half when it's dirt slow and I'm loosing my mind. Bring something to do. They do have a lounge with a tv and water. Soo not too bad. read more

Extremely slow service. They have the sense of urgancy of a slug. I bought 4 new tires there. The price of the tires on sale was only just comperable to prices out in town, and they were "on sale." I purchased them anyway because of their convient location in regard to my work. They were orderred that tuesday, so I'm assuming when I left my car for servicing on Wed, they should have already been there or were arriving shortly. I dropped my car off at 0600, walked to my command. Came back at 1500 and I still had to wait another 45 minutes for them to finish. Never seen a pop and swap of tires take that long at even the busiest of public establishments. The only good thing here is cheap gas prices, which let's be honest--the workers here have nothing to do with setting that price, and it's self-serve anyway. read more

The gas is cheaper than the outside world but more expensive than Costco. There is barely ever a line to get gas which is A+++. The only negative I have are the windshield repair people. You get harassed if you try to fill up your tank. They will come to your car to creepily look over your windshield and tell you that you have cracks. Every time you go, you have cracks. Yeah, ok. Never even got the service done, I walked in around 1 today and have never got my car serviced here before and now I never will. I walked up to the counter and said "May I get a tire rotation and oil change please?" And the guy at the counter responds with "No... Not when I only have 40% of my crew here. It's first come first serve so drop it off early in the morning next time." I feel like there was a more polite and respectful way of telling me that information than making me feel stupid for trying to come drop it off in the afternoon? Terrible customer service, you'd think people who work on a military base would be more respectful especially to other members and their families. When I first got to San Diego, I thought the Autoport would be better than the local mechanics with price, labor, flexibility, and knowledge. I was wrong! Pretty much take the stereotypical government contract worker and give them a job as a mechanic, that's what you get. Why do I say this? first come, first serve at this place, so I called a few times early in the morning and talked to them. They refused to talk to me saying, "I just walked in the door. I'm not fully awake yet." The first time I took my car in, they did an alright job with the new tire and alignment that was needed. Overpriced on the alignment, but I didn't care because insurance was taking care of it. Next, before our PCS, my wife took her car in for a tune up and safety inspection. I specifically asked them to check the fuel pump/filter, etc. They must have removed portions of the muffler to check areas because the next day the muffler fell off and was dragging! I told my wife to go back to the Autoport to see if they could do something for her. They refused to look at it and/or tie it up so she could at least drive to their referral. No consideration at all. These clowns let my wife hanging because they were "leaving for the day, and we don't work on mufflers." It would have taken me 3 minutes to tie it up and I'm not even a mechanic. Finally, after the tuneup, the car was not running smooth, and was shaking as she drove. I called early again in the morning and spoke to Kim. I told him I'm pretty sure a cylinder is misfiring after the tuneup. Later in the day they incorrectly diagnosed it as "unbalanced tires." (still shaking) I knew this was BS right away because I had just got it balanced and aligned a few months before. Didn't believe a word I said. Now, even though this 'Kim' guy said they will fix it for free, it's just a waste of time because if you drop your car off at 0730, dont expect your car back earlier than 1400. Don't be fooled by Kim, he sure tries to be charming, but the service is absolutely terrible here and they are overpriced. You can find cheaper places with better service, knowledge, and customer service out on town! read more

Do these people even know what their doing? I took my truck there for a simple break change since I didn't have time to do it myself. They come back a few hours later saying that the breaks are fine and have 70% remaining on the front and 90% on the rear drums. Ok. Mabie I'm wrong I think to myself. A week later I hear the notorious squeak of the breaks. I Take off my tires myself and what do I see? My breaks are all but gone. Total B.S. I call them and tell them what I found. Their solution? Bring it on in and pay for the service again! I think not. I caution everyone who wants to bring their vehicle here for service. Don't service your car there. Dropped the car off before 0800 on a Friday morning to get a flat fixed. After 61/2 hours I called to see if the car was ready and got attitude from Kim. Then I hear the tire can't be patched and has to be replaced which couldn't be done until Monday due to them having to order the tire of which I was told in the AM would be ordered that day. I picked the car up, took it out in town and got it patched up in under an hour. UNSAT all the way around! read more

I needed a new radiator in my old Jeep. My usual garage in Hillcrest wanted $500+. Took it to the NASNI Autoport, and got the radiator AND an oil change for $315. In and out in a day as promised, and everything seems great. I'll be back. Why throw money away when they do a great job for SO MUCH LESS? read more

It's not really the AUTO-port's fault. It's a small garage with a side store attached with most of your needs. If it was a bigger base then I'm sure this AUTOport would be huge and able to accommodate a lot more. For now it's the perfect size for Coronado NB. read more

I've had a few things done there, and they do a decent job for a decent price. However, do NOT drop off your vehicle there and think you'll get it back in an hour or two. I've never actually scheduled an appointment, so maybe it would be faster if you did that. However, I usually drop it off using the drop box prior to 7am and I've never gotten the car back before 4pm. Today I'm having the oil changed and the tires rotated, and they told me it probably won't be ready until 4:30pm (dropped it off at 6:45am), which means it will probably be more like 5 or 5:30pm. 10 hours for an oil change and a tire rotation is pretty ridiculous. I work here on North Island so it's not a big deal for me, but if I didn't work on the base I wouldn't have any work done there. I'd take it to a quick lube place and have it done in 30 minutes. read more

I took my brand new car in for it's first tire rotation and balance. As I took it for a test drive after the work was complete, the steering wheel and front end shook violently. I took the car back and they informed me they re-balanced the tires. The next test drive was still extremely bad. After 3 trips and three attempts the technician stated the tires were"bad" or we needed to get the suspension checked. I spoke with the service manager who asked me to take it for a drive after the 3rd balancing attempt and if it wasn't fixed to bring it right back to him. It wasn't fixed. I brought it back 15 mins later and he was gone. I asked that he call as soon as he returned and he never did. I took the car to the 76 station on Coronado and they had the car as smooth as it was before the NEX touched it and it took them less than 45 mins. I did manage to get my money back from the Autoport but I'll never get the time back. A shop should not cause problems with your car but that was the case here. It was clear that their technicians and service manager did not have a clue as to how to do a simple tire balance and were not willing to QA their workers. Instead they tried ti blame the car and recommended very costly alternatives to fix the problem Do NOT take your car here. You will regret it. read more

Carla at the service desk is awesome. But this place is really under staffed in the shop. Simple jobs take a long time. I don't think they are set up well for the amount of customers they get. Very disappointed. Went to buy brake pads only to find out they upcharge for parts. Same set at NAPA in South Bay was 59.99+tax. (Even got a 5% military discount!) NEX Autoport charged over $73 despite the fact that they claim to be a NAPA authorized dealer! When I asked for my money back the lady there argued with me saying it was "convenient" for servicemembers to have the shop so close and no tax! In reality it's a rip-off to our servicement and women who deserve better. read more

I dropped my car to have my two front tires replaced @ 7AM and when I pass-by at 2:45, I found my car still lifted -up with no mechanic attending to it. Finally got the job done after 30 minutes but noticed that they installed the new ones in the rear vice front. Supervisor should have a mechanic assigned to do the short jobs and continue to finish them before getting on the longer repair tasking., that way customers can feel the speed and convenience of a car maintenance here. that's right matt! the crew here in Autoport Coronado is very honest and straight forward because i dropped off my car today 02Mar11 to get it checked because it won't start this morning and when i got it started, after a blocked it died on me. So I dropped it off and the guy told me that they canno't touch the car or better yet he said " HE DIDN'T EVEN OPEN THE HOOD" to check it out to see what's the problem is. So yah! they're pretty honest about telling you that they didn't even look at the car. This place sucks. I am never ever going to bring my car back here again! read more

Extremely poor customer service. The people working the service desk (Kim and Carla) don't care and are full of excuses. Tried to drop off my vehicle two days in a row to have a screw removed from the tire and plugged. Asked if I had an appointment on the second day when I was previously told to "just drop by, not a problem." Bottom line, NEX AUTOPORT CORONADO does a horrible job of supporting our Sailors. Recommend they fire all and replace with a team that cares. read more
