The prices are slightly on the higher end but reasonable. It's a small store and its near a busy intersection. It is also near Tyler State Park which was a plus for us. read more

It's delightful to me that we have an excellent independent bagel shop in-between two shopping plazas that host large, corporate chains (ones that just don't do it as well as these folks do). If you're in for pick-up, you'll be in and out in a jiffy. Employees are nice, even when the shop is busy as can be on a Saturday morning. Despite being a small and high volume bagel shop, they have a couple tables if you need to sit for a minute or two (and can find a seat). Furthermore, the customers are happier than your average big-chain cafe consumer. Even if you're only stopping in for a minute, it leaves you with good vibes. The texture of the bagels is just right. I love the doughiness, and if you ask for extra butter... oh yeah, they really mean 'extra' (I'm rethinking my order for health reasons, but still, I'm grateful that they don't skimp out on it!). In a world of stale dunkin bagels that taste like week-old festival popcorn, I'm so grateful to have a place like this within walking distance (and without having to walk into the very busy Newtown Village Shopping Center across the street). read more

Verry good bagels and friendly service. They were out of Dark roast coffee and the team member came right over and switched the coffee and said it be ready in a minute. The bagels are soft and tast. It's about time to bestow the fifth star to Newtown Bagel. It is awarded for consistency of effort, sincere and friendly service, long term partnership with the community and excellence in breakfast sandwiches. Their success is shown by the opening of a second shop, Yardley Bagel Co. in Lower Makefield, which produces the same quality baked rounders as Newtown, in a more expansive and comfortable space. Can a third be far behind? While I still have a small issue with the texture of the bagel skin which is softer (less crisp) than I prefer, I can't deny that the pliable nature when fresh from the oven creates a perfect platform for a hot steaming sandwich. My just eaten sausage, egg & cheese on untoasted onion bagel was wonderfully delicious from first bite through last. The chew blended ingredients well and gave full voice to the harmonics exploding in my mouth. Alas, my tastes have matured to appreciate the pleasure of the different texture. There is a place in life for more than one variety of bagel. Bagel Wisdom attained by hard experience and exhaustive bagel research cannot be denied. read more

Bagels here are "good enough", and I certainly don't know of anything better in Newtown. Their staff has improved a lot in the past few years. There used to be a cashier who was hopeless at taking orders (although very nice) and it would always be a big ordeal to order and the lines would invariably back up as she got everything wrong and people had to re-explain what they wanted. People there now are significantly more competent. I can order a "lox sandwich on a scooped toasted everything bagel with veggie cream cheese" and they GET IT (and then even ask me if I want the capers and onions!). I wish they had a better waiting area, as it always seems awkward to wait for your to-go bagels. If there are no available seats right by the waiting area (and those 2 seats are way too close together) you're either standing right by the door as people come in and out or taking up a 4-top seating area. But I understand the positioning of their space is a bit weird. You can get your bagels "scooped" which saves you 75 calories (I'll attach a picture) and for me, doesn't change anything about the best parts of the bagel. The bagels are OK. I think if they were a little crunchier on the outside they would be sublime. But Newtown Bagel doesn't have any real need to improve as there's no major competition in Newtown. The veggie cream cheese is also just OK. It's nothing like the Bagel Barrel in Doylestown, but it's good enough - just like Newtown Bagels overall. read more

I am from Wisconsin and visited Newtown Bagel. I loved the atmosphere and the workers! Everyone was soooo nice!! The choices of bagels was phenomenal and really shocked me. I asked about their fresh bread that was out and was politely told it was an accident and should not have been placed out on the counter. No, problem, I understood. Then, a few minutes later, a very nice Gentleman handed me the loaf of bread and said I could have it. I was absolutely SHOCKED!!!! It was so very nice of him to do that, because obviously, he did not have too. Not only is there food great but so are the people in charge and all the employees. They put a smile on my face and made my first trip to Pennsylvania one to talk about! Thank you, Newtown Bagel, for being so nice to me. I was doing business in the area & I wanted a bagel & lox with just a bit of onion. The young man behind the counter was very friendly, knowledgeable & loved talking about the bagel practice. The bagels are good but they are only baked here. They arrive as pre rolled dough & only certain varieties are pre boiled or steamed. I found that to be a bit disappointing since a true bagel should be hand rolled, boiled & then baked. This gives them the shiny, chewy crust & the fluffy inside. That said, it's not a deal breaker. They certainly had several varieties of bagels & spreads. My sandwich was a bit skimpy with the cream cheese & lox; albeit the red onion I had on it was super fresh & had a good bite! probably the worst bagel place in Pennsylvania. Their bagels are small when you can even get them because majority of the time they're out of the one you want and aren't willing to make more. Secondly, all the food is processed. Thirdly, the atmosphere is boring there is no excitement at all just a bunch of grumpy morning people wanting to get some average food, and that's exactly what it is. The coffee taste like shit. There is no set uniform. Everyone of their coworkers are wearing something different. Also, their hygiene is not up to par. I've ordered multiple times and never received the correct order. While waiting for my food I seen , the grill guy picking his nose and then wrap the sandwich. I was so disgusted that I left the store even after paying. Why waste your time on disgusting food when you can go to McDonald's buy a steak, egg and cheese bagel and be more satisfied for your money. Which reminds me the creamer for the coffee was room temperature and started to chunk up. eww gross... I would rather lick my dollar bills, then to ever eat any of their food. I will tell not only my family and friends, but the whole nation about the horrible establishment they consider a good business. instead of fixing the problem, they make up excuses and that's why I don't see a prosperous future for Newtown bagel.
