I do most of my own work and I bought a Dewitt racing radiator, fan, and an Autozone water pump, but my apartment building doesn't want anything major done in their garage. So, because my Corvette is a TLC car, I looked all over and found Mike. He installed them all at a good value beautifully and didn't damage the custom underglow and forward camera systems at all. The air conditioning in my Honda Accord was not working. I took it to one shop where they kept it half the day and could not figure out what was wrong. I then took it to Newtech Automotive. It took a while to figure out what was wrong, but they kept at it. The problem was difficult to diagnose and had stumped the guys at the first shop I took it to. From my understanding the problem was a short in the blower regulator and the blower regulator had to be replaced. I was thrilled to have a solution and the repair cost was quite reasonable, especially considering how difficult it was to figure out the problem. I will return to Newtech Automotive for any service on my car that I need in the future and recommend this shop to anyone looking for a great mechanic. read more

Trust worthy and great place to bring your import car. They get really busy though. I would call ahead and ask if [insert the time & day you want to go here] is ok to bring your car down. They will let you know if that is ok or if there is a better time. No BS, no up-sale...If there is something wrong or if they could save you money, they will call and let you know. They did for me and saved me some headache and trouble later on and didn't even charge me for the extra work. It was one of those "since we already have it off, you might as well do this to save because you'll need it soon." type of things. Car works great till this day. Almost a year later...still no issue with the parts that were fixed (internal) The parking...ah man...the parking sucks big time. You might have to park on the street or something. It's really hard to find a parking spot because it's a small lot and almost all the spaces are used by the shops next to them. You can't really park in front of the shop either, because there is a "no stopping" sign there since the front of their shop is technically the way driveway and private lot at the same time. You'll see what I mean when you get there. Still, even with the difficult parking situation, this place is a little gem for import cars. In a area that is always trying to get the upper hand on unknowing customers it's refreshing to find a honest mechanic shop that I can go to. I take all my used cars here...whenever i can schedule it in. *** always very busy *** Oh and the guys explain everything they did for you clearly so you have no doubts about it. Mike and Glenn are great! So happy I was referred to Newtech Automotive from my friend Rafael S. Thought I needed another break job because the break light and "Pull into nearest service station" message came on, but I did just have them changed 8,000 miles ago. When I called Newtech (last minute emergency, of course), Glenn mentioned they were really busy but to stop by so he could do a quick visual inspection of the pads - stopped in and he said they were fine. It was a relief to hear those words, but I really wanted to schedule an appt. to have them connect the car to their BMW software just to make sure. Went back the next day and reconfirmed the good news - Mike mentioned that the auto shop that last changed my breaks, never reset my BMW's on-board memory that the breaks were new. So my car's memory had no recollection that it's breaks had been changed. :( Oh well, I'm sure it was just overlooked by the person who changed it last. I'm thankful it brought me to Newtech. He's an honest mechanic and his turnaround time is nuts, lol! I had a "dealer only" issue with my Mini that would've cost over $1000. Brought the car to Mike and for $318 he fixed the "dealer only" repair plus an oil change in 3 hours. I have a Hyundai Santa Fe now and he works on it too. Brought my wife's Hammer because dealer told her it would be about $750 to have it fixed and it would be 2 to 3 days till we get it back. What a scam this place was. My 1994 honda civic had broken down. I had my car towed to them. Diagnosis was a bad head gasket and that was all that was needed. They replaced the head gasket after a few days. When I got my car back it broke down after having it for three days. The engine block blew up when I was driving it on the freeway. I took it back to them and they said I needed another engine and wouldn't give me a refund for replacing the head gasket. This is not a way of doing business and ripping off the working class. I then took my 1991 honda civic to these guys afterwards for a clutch replacement. They freaking put on the wrong clutch for my 1991 honda civic. I had to do the clutch myself after I started learning about cars. I don't refer these guys to anybody! read more

I sometimes bring Mike a list of things that need repairing (which usually comes from other businesses trying to upsell me on their services after they complete my oil change). Mike takes a look at my car for himself and gives me his review, telling me what is really necessary and what can wait. I disagree with Sonya S about her rating. If you were to rate a mechanic, you base it on his knowledge and integrity and not on your doubtfulness about his ability and rate. The quoted rate of $85.00 per tow is very reasonable. I live about 35 miles away one way and this is a flat tow rate (not by the miles) charged whenever I needed my vehicle towed to Mike's shop. In fact, this tow is just a special service for his client and the charge does not go to the shop. On the other hand, I have never experienced being charged for just diagnostics on the car. If my car does not need the repair, Mike will tell you ahead of time and not charge you for anything. I think Sonya is confused with the tow charge and the actual repair charge. I am writing this review for the reason of helping other motorists out there looking for a reputable and reasonable repair shop. It is also to help support a shop so they can get more business and be around as long as possible to service motorists just like me. read more

2years ago: i was doing a DYI job and forgot to connect an electrical cable which controls the acceleration of the car. I went to Newtech and within a minute, they diagnosed the problem and fixed it free of charge. I just took my old 98 Olds Bravada in which was making clunking noises when backing up & braking. Very serious--motor mount & 2 other mounts broken. He had the hood up & when he would back up & brake, the whole engine jumped up. I thought I was going to have to junk it. He's fixing it for a very fair price & also checking the fluids.
