Mold about a little more than month after install

Ghosted by Newpro, living with mold It has been around three months since Newpro stopped answering our calls. Here is our story. We purchased our house almost 20 years ago. The one full bathroom was fitted with a bathtub/shower that had a bath-fitters overlay. For so long we wanted to replace it, as the seam that was caulked around the tub developed black mold spots despite re-caulking it multiple times. That is why we reached out to Newpro. Two very friendly, yet, very pushy salesmen came to the house and told us that it was mold that we were dealing with. The were confident that it was coming from behind the wall and they would be able to solve our problem. They would rip everything out down to the studs, remediate any mold, repair any rotted areas and put in all new everything. We were given an astronomical price quote to start (over $25K), we were shocked. However, after much back and forth, they continued to reduce the price to less than half the original quote. They told us we needed to sign up right then and there to get this discounted price. That the price would no longer be offered if they left and came back. After an exhausting 3 hours of negotiating, we did it, we signed on the dotted line, still paying more than we expected to pay, but happy to be rid of our moldy situation. A week prior to the install date, they called to reschedule. First delay. The rescheduled date, December 2023, came and the installer did show up. However, they failed to rip out everything, leaving half the old tile wall in place. To note, there was no mold found behind the bath fitters. The new tub was fully installed and they were about to finish for the day until I saw that there was damage to the tub. So, this caused the second delay. They had to pause the project and attempt to find another tub in order to come back the following day. I guess we felt lucky that they were able to find the correct tub to come back the next day. Then, they removed the first tub and installed the second one and then, were finally able to finish the walls. Once the project was finished, I noticed that there was more caulking around the seams than even our old tub/shower had. It didn't just go around the tub, it went up each wall corner and around the shelving on each corner. I was devastated, but hopeful that we would not have the same problem. I called the salesperson to address this concern. He guaranteed me that the caulking they use is complete with microban and the same problem would not occur. The "welding" the sales team was referring to was behind the seams and they still had to caulk along all of the seams. They had left this information out at the meeting. It looked pretty good despite that initial disappointment. However, once the caulking dried, there were several noticeable gaps. They had to send someone back, early January 2024, to redo the caulking in those areas, another 24 hours of waiting for the caulking to set. They also fixed a leaking pipe below the tub in the basement. Third delay. Then, a couple of weeks later, late January 2024, the mold spots appeared. So, we had another visit for our caulking to be redone, March 2024, and another 24 hours of waiting for the caulking to set. Fourth delay. At this point, I was done. I had done everything in my power to prevent the mold from happening. I have cleaned the tube regularly with the products that they recommended. I didn't allow anything to be placed around the tub, only on the shelves above. And I did not allow my family to keep soap on the shelves. I did not want to deal with this black mold issue again. Yet here we are. We have one full bathroom in our house and a teenage boy. I could not continue to be without a tub for 24 plus hours at a time. As much as they are willing to keep coming back in redo the caulking, I cannot live like that. After about a year, we finally got the nerve to call them back because the mold continued to form on the caulking. Well, they sent someone out to evaluate our situation. This was April 2025. They checked our fan, which they determined is working just fine. They evaluated our water, which also checked out. Finally, they tested a piece of caulking for mold. It was determined that it was mold. Our project was escalated to a manager. At this point, they offered to come back and rip the whole project out to get rid of the tiles that were not initially removed behind the install. We refused, we cannot keep being without a tub, especially for the whole project to be redone. At that point, we asked for a refund. They promised to fix our problem and they failed to do so. They then said they had to escalate our problem further up the chain to Earl Knipfer, Director of Operations, and told us we would get a call. We have yet to get that call. We asked of this direct contact information, telephone or email. They could not give it to us. After a couple weeks of us following up, they stopped answering our calls and messages. My husband was

Newpro just installed a bay window on my home today. The workmanship, courtesy and product quality met and exceeded expectations. I highly recommend NewPro as a company and products. They are a premium based product and you get what you pay for in service, quality and follow-up support. Trevor and Drew were the install team; ask for them when you purchase your NewPro product! :-) I am not a paid reviewer, just an extremely pleased one.

    Fake Promises

NewPro aka NoShow has a unique process. FIRST VISIT: This from the WEASEL. He comes to you home and promise everything. They bore you with how they drove down from Canada, this is not there territory but they are making an exception to be here today. The promise life long warranties blah blah blah. For me one door would be 10K and two would be a total of14K (yes sounds funny and this is where the smoke and mirrors starts) Apparently they do not break down the doors individually. Makes perfect sense when doing job costing.. NO First red flag! NewPro aka NoShow Cashes my $5300 check SECOND VISIT: This is from the CLOWN, he come to your home to take pictures, but he will not answer your questions, he will not entertain anything you have to offer him about what your looking for or why. He will roam around your home and you will find him in places he should not be, even though you told him he cannot see the Sill from the Basement, hence the "Clown". My Clown actually told be he does not answer questions because he is afraid of getting fired. I also caught him in my basement when he said he was going to his truck. Third Step: Engineering takes the pics from the Clown for review and to begin to build these custom doors. Fourth Step: Silence, no call no show no progress. and I'm out $5300. Fifth Step: I file a complaint with BBB, write honest reviews on every social media platform I can find including Trade and Service oriented sites and whoa my phone lights up from the BOSS. Sixth Step: Find a local guy who can get these doors in by winter. Seven Step: Slam NoShow and share my experience with friends neighbors co workers and total strangers. AVOID at all cost. There is no bargain here. Find a local guy to get the job done and not steal your money.

*DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY ANY MONEY* I will now be contacting my lawyer. I had an appointment on 5/2 but the day came and went. Now it's 5/6 and still no word from NEWPRO on why they missed my appointment or when they will be out to fix the issues. It's been a couple years now. Everyone at NEWPRO are not taking this seriously, the job was very half assed. I've wasted a lot of my time trying to get answers and trying to fix issues that are still unresolved. We had an appointment. That appointment went by without anyone following up. I'm the one doing all the leg work and my time is valuable. For a $90k...this is completely unacceptable. Windows are still exposed to the elements.

I would not recommend to hire FRG to do your flat rubber roof!!!…read more In summer 2023 FRG came to redo the roof drain cap which was never installed properly at the first place by them back in Feb 2019. The roof has leaked every year since then and had 3-4 repairs. In April 2024, the roof drain clogged again(we have no trees around). The roof rain water seeped through under the roof drain compression ring, then flew down to the outside the drain pipe directly into the first floor bathroom wall and the basement floor. Fabio blame the leak caused by the drain pipe itself, not the roof. The drain pile has no integrity issue simply because after the roof drain debris cleared, the water leak has not occurred unless there is a heavy rain. And this only happened after FRG reinstalled the drain cover in summer of 2023. He did not apply for the building permit for this job either. To make the situation even worse, Fabio send me a $600+ bill for climbing up to the roof to check the leak and clearing the roof debris showed in the photo. But the roof leak is not fixed! I am a 30+ year real estate professional and have referred him a few jobs in the past. Sorry Fabio, not a job end up like this. What a nightmare.

By chance, the electric company stopped by the next day to check my meter, and started banging on my door to ask what in the world was up with my electric meter/box. They said the metal was so bent that even if I had the cover, it wouldn't fit back on. It turns out that anyone walking by who touched it could've gotten an electric shock! The electric company wanted to shut off the power to my entire house immediately - it was that serious - but since it was in the winter they didn't. The electric company was kind enough to wrap a tarp around the box, since any rain or snow getting in could cause extensive damage, including frying my whole electrical panel. It turned out that MightyDog had done extensive electrical work without an electrical permit, and by people who were not licensed to do that work. They had to pay thousands of dollars to an emergency Electrician; I appreciate that they paid it, but that's how bad it was. They also did extensive damage to my mini splits, which they refuse to take responsibility for. I think they did a good job on my roof, but I can't in good conscience recommend this business.

The price was reasonable, the sales person was kind and not pushy and the team that did the install was respectful of the space as well as incredibly professional.
