We had just bought a house and our real estate agent recommended Mitch for our 3 bedroom local move with packing service. We already had pretty high expectations based on his reviews, and somehow he beat them! Great service from quote time to being surrounded by boxes in a new house. He even got the move done way quicker and under his quoted price (he did mention he was giving me worst case numbers in the quote). If you want an honest, hardworking and professional moving team that will give you a stress free move, I recommend Mitch's team, period. Read on for more details. Ease of quoting: He actually came out to look at our stuff when he quoted us. In and out real quick, super easy, great quote. Another company gave us a huge video homework project for a virtual quote (we cancelled that - too much work) and another didn't view our stuff at all for their estimate (we did that once and had to pay double to get a second truck). Trustworthiness: throughout the walkthrough for the quote he gave us tips on easy things we could pack on our own to save money. One of those things was buying boxes ourselves, he mentioned he could bring some but we'd save ourselves by getting them directly from U-Haul. Vibes: This dude is the friendliest person you will ever meet. It's like meeting people in general sparks joy in him, and he's constantly laughing and joking. Price: Mitch was the lowest quote by 15%. It didn't matter as much to us since we felt like he was the best mover just based on our meeting. A good portion of that was probably the box savings - if we added the cost of boxes the quote would have been much closer. Communication: up to the day of the move, Mitch was constantly in touch. We could call him at any time and get questions answered. One note is that calling him is your best bet - texts and emails can be slower, but he will still follow up eventually. Flexibility: we moved during the recent rainstorms. Since we had a somewhat flexible move window, Mitch kept an eye on the weather and found better days to keep our stuff dry and his workers safe. He was able to fit us in early for all our furniture to go a few days before our move! That made packing super quick and easy on a rain day, and then we moved on the first day after the rain ended. We only missed our target move day by one day. Team: Julio, Cesar, and Mike are the funnest and awesomest dudes I've had the pleasure of hiring. They were very friendly and their camaraderie was infectious. I asked Mitch if they'd be the same guys for the next day of moving, and he said "it's always the same guys!" I noticed they're even the same guys from reviews 4 years ago. They're a tight knit team and the loyalty really shows a quality business. Packing: packing was straightforward. They brought their own tape and packing paper. Most boxes contained stuff from the same room to keep things organized. They labeled the contents of boxes in detail when it could be unclear (like if two rooms got mixed). We've unpacked the majority of our stuff and everything was easily located. I've included a pic of one of the really fun labels - whoever did those boxes is my favorite. Damage: we consider it inevitable in a move, but we had no permanent major damage. We had a mild panic when we saw they had taped our knives to our knife block, which got tape adhesive stuck to our knives. It cleaned right off with dish soap though. Some mattresses also got a little dirty, but also easily rectified with a vacuum. All in all, very acceptable and reversible issues! Speed: these guys are FAST. I was looking to move from the west side to SGV and stumbled across Newman Moving Services on yelp. Reaching Mitch was super easy-- he spoke on the phone with me at least 3 times before the day of the move to talk me through the process, and to make sure everything goes smoothly. The price was not the highest, but not the lowest, which is reasonable considering how personable and well communicated the experience was. I needed movers to get the big bulky furniture out of two places on the west side to a new home. I did all the packing for the small things separately and on my own time. My goal here was to get the move done quickly as possible and Mitch gave me plenty of tips to speed the process up. I disassembled certain furniture beforehand and had some things already wrapped up. When the crew got here, they moved very quickly and efficiently, and we got the whole move done in 6 hours! That includes driving an hour to the west side, getting furniture from two different locations (both on the second floor), driving it all back and hour to the SGV and bringing it all up to the new home which has a bunch of stairs. One of the best experiences I've had with a moving company thus far!!! I had recently purchased a large 6 drawer dresser from a friend, after I had just moved to a new location. However, I had two guy friends help me attempt to move the dresser, which was heavier and difficult to maneuver through my apartment complex. Unfortunately, they were only able to get to the living room and not upstairs. So I called a few other companies, who all gave me expensive quotes (most require a minimum 3 hour charge..... understandable but frustrating because I only had to move 1 item) even the moving company I had used a week previously for my big move, charged a $200 minimum.. Mitch was the only mover who answered my call and at least offered to come take a look, give a quote, or offer some sound advice. After a quick little game plan, Mitch was confident enough to actually move it by himself. He ended up figuring out how to unlock the drawers and remove it, so the dresser was a bit lighter& easier to shimmy up the narrow staircase. And in under 30 minutes, I finally had a beautiful dresser upstairs! He also only charged me a fraction of other people's rates. I have moved a lot, and used several different moving companies. My experience with Newman Moving Company was the most TRAUMATIC. When Mitch Newman came to our house to give us a quote he emphasized how he'd take a good care of our things. The reality was the OPPOSITE. The whole day was a DISASTER. I was moving the smaller and fragile items myself so I didn't really pay attention to the movers. I had never had any issues with the movers mishandling my stuff so it didn't even occur to me to keep a closer eye on them. The first shock: When I was walking outside I saw that our baby's crib mattress and blankets had been thrown on the truck FLOOR without any plastic covering them! They tried to move an Ikea wardrobe in one piece from upstairs. When doing that they damaged not only the wardrobe but the walls in the staircase, removed the handrail which caused 2" hole in the wall. My husband had to spend two days afterwards to repair the damage. Once the movers arrived in our new home I saw that our furniture was not properly protected and most of the furniture had dents, paint flaked off, corners mashed. They had covered some of the furniture with DIRTY moving blankets which left a layer of brown dust all over my furniture. When they had put the furniture in place I saw dirty fingerprints on my white furniture and my new mattress and box spring. Yuck! When I pointed them out I was told it's MY FAULT because my furniture is white! The ONLY positive thing I can say is that the guys did a good job packing our stuff in boxes.
