Can we give zero stars? Because that's what SCV Water deserves…read more I honestly cannot believe we have to settle for a company like this. This has been, without exaggeration, the worst utility company I've ever dealt with -- and I completely agree with everyone else saying they're the worst. First of all, there is no empathy whatsoever. No flexibility. No reasonable payment plans. They will shut off your service ASAP without hesitation. On top of that, their billing statements are confusing and inaccurate -- it will say one thing, but somehow the total charges are higher. Try getting a clear explanation? Good luck. And don't even get me started on their disconnection and reconnection fees -- they're outrageous. Here's our personal experience: we called to let them know we were MOVING and wanted to transfer service. Pretty standard process with literally every other utility company. Months later, we find out they were still charging us at our old address. Why? Because apparently you have to explicitly say the words "I want to cancel my account." They claim they don't "transfer" accounts. First of all -- common sense? If someone calls saying they're moving and want to transfer service, that obviously means they no longer want the old account active. Second, this policy is nowhere clearly stated on their website. Third, when I originally called, no one told me I had to specifically say the word "cancel." To make it worse, we're STILL dealing with the old account because nobody has called us back regarding this issue. We've been waiting for follow-up that never comes. Customer service says they can only handle so much, and even then, there's absolutely no empathy or sense of urgency. We're left chasing answers while charges continue to pile up. The lack of transparency, the hidden policies, the aggressive shutoff approach, the insane fees, and the complete lack of accountability make this an incredibly frustrating company to deal with. Unfortunately, we don't have another option -- but if you do, avoid this headache.

Everyone is right, terrible terrible company and we have no choice but to go with them. Customer…read moreservice is horrendous, inconsistent, unsympathetic, no consideration for those who are are having hardship issues in these times. No payment plan options, no waiving of fees, nothing. They could care less except except the almighty dollar and their bottom line and profits if they can't give certain considerations and good service to the public and their customers. I hope we get another water company. They are one of the worst I've encountered.

The unfortunate thing is your utility company isn't like getting cable vs DirecTV where you have a…read morechoice - you're stuck with them. Let's put aside the fact that voter-approved Proposition 218, which prohibits agencies from charging more for a service than it costs to provide it (i.e. - tiered rates of water usage), doesn't apply to VWC because they are not "government run" so they are free to charge whatever they want. Every other December my water bill is stupid high, think higher than July stupid, so I reached out and asked for an audit and explanation. Their response "I don't know but we can have someone come out and for a residential water tune-up." WTF?!?! My irrigation was turned off for a month thanks to drought resistant plant material and my lawn is UC Verde Buffalograss which is dormant. How am I billed for more water usage when none was used than I am in the summer when I water 4x a week?!?! Funny thing is I had more water usage in January than December but my bill miraculously was less! Like all other utility companies, public or otherwise, it's all cash grab and VWC is no different.

What she said was very inappropriate and unnecessary. What she should have been concerned with was my address. Just send someone out to fix my damn ruptured water line. 5 stars: A technician was at our house 15 minutes later. Main valve replaced after 45 minutes. He was nice. Overall, this calls for a 3 star average review, but the CSR was such a stupid bozo that it tainted this experience. Note: apparently water valves need to be replaced every 15-20 years. The houses in this neighborhood are 15-20 years old.... Our tech told us stuff like this happens everyday, so if your house is over 15 years old consider calling your water company to see what's up!

While he disagreed with my assessment, and was combative...my perspective didn't change... It only worsened in terms of the company... I'm the paying customer, and the experience didn't meet expectations... I deal with a lot of vendors across the state for my facilities so I know the difference between acceptable and unacceptable. My biggest issue was the lack of cleanup and how quickly the crew seemed ready to leave. My entire back patio was left covered in mud and debris. The mess extended to my pool (which required a separate cleaning), the side corridors, walkways, my new doors, and even my barbecue area... It was pretty nasty... The new barbecue just got put in so the white stucco is going to need to be repainted. The street in front of my home.. including both neighboring properties...was left with significant sludge and sentiment buildup. I ended up having to apologize to my neighbors and personally pressure wash the area myself. To be fair, I was told the pool might get dirty, but this was far beyond what I expected. They also backed up and blocked my pool overflow system, which had been working fine prior, and didn't address it before leaving. From my perspective, the crew seemed more focused on moving quickly toward cutting concrete and scheduling additional work rather than fully resolving the issue at hand... They were eager to get the initial job going which is fine, and said there are three guys ready to work, but unfortunately one guy probably should have been out on disability with what seemed like a broken arm. No disrespect, they all seemed nice from a personality standpoint... But when you're being billed per hour, you expect three healthy workers. I've had similar work done at my other properties, and this experience felt rushed and not up to a professional standard. What didn't sit well with me was the owner's lack of receptiveness to respectful, direct feedback... especially from another business owner. In summary: The issue was not resolved (roots were visible on camera but not cleared).. out 1300 bucks.. did you get a second opinion and a trenchless option with more appropriate tools was presented and being executed on. There appeared to be a push toward more invasive and costly work... And they couldn't really confirm where the actual blockage was. It was more of a guessing game. Cleanup was far below expectations I was left to handle the aftermath, including cleaning and neighbor impact This may not be everyone's experience, but it was mine. I'll let others decide accordingly.

I showed him the area between the kitchen and bathroom where the floor was hot- checking my water meter I knew I had an underground leak. Gabriel told me just for him to detect the leak it would be 875$ which I agreed and payed. Confirming we had a leak I asked the cost to fix it, he quoted me 8-10,000$. Shocked by the excessive amount I asked if that was the best price he could do. He said he would talk to his office to see what he could do. He came back with a drastic price drop of 5300$ including the 875$ from him detecting the leak. I said I would have to get back to him. To make sure he marked the 2 areas of the broken pipe correctly I hired another team and on Friday they began digging on the first area Gabriel had marked the leak to be. They dug 12 inches down and found no leak or pipe. I called Gabriel to explain the situation. He said to send him pictures which I did and offered for him to come and find the right spot rather than for me to spend more money which he never did. The new team who fixed the leak had to break even more concrete and cement 3-4 feet away from where he originally detected the leak which cost more money to fix and damaged more of my floor. If we had dug in the second area he also incorrectly marked it would have also cost me more. I left a message asking if Gabriel could call me back and called headquarters requesting assistance of a supervisor, 72 hours has passed and no one has reached out or made any attempt to apologize for the mistake. I would not recommend this company to anyone unless you want your money taken quick and want nonexistent assistance even quicker. I paid for professionals only to be professionally let down. Sincerely, an extremely upset customer
