The young man, Quellen (I hope I spelled his name correctly) who helped us, was very polite, knowledgeable and professional. Front desk staff were also very pleasant. The atmosphere of this library is calm and is well maintained. Would definitely come back to this location to book passport services or if ever in the area, utilize library services.

There is so much glass for walls that it just fills the whole building with so much light. It's peaceful and inviting. You just want to sit down and rest, take it all in. Read a book. The lot is very very small. I came in when there was an event (magic show for kids) that not only filled the lot, but also made the library a bit louder than I would have liked it to be. If you're looking for a peaceful library experience, you might just want to check their calendar to make sure there's nothing planned for the time you're there. I came here to get the stamp for this branch as part of the 100th anniversary event & this was the first (& hopefully only) branch where the librarian wasn't quite sure what I was talking about. She thought that they weren't doing it anymore & the stamp had been stored away (after a quick call she confirmed that they were still doing it - which I knew - & that the stamp was just at another desk). I know this is a special event so I won't really fault the branch, but I was just surprised to come to a branch that wasn't all up to date on this as I can only imagine a lot of people were coming in every day to get this item. In all, if this is your local branch, you've got a great one to visit. If I ever happen to be in the area, I would absolutely come back and just enjoy the space.

The library has a fantastic inventory and a great kid area that offers resources for them from books to crafts. My son love playing with some of the toys there and then sitting on the cushions listening to a book. It was a nice peaceful break to the business of the day. The building is just inviting and full of bright natural light. Perfect for working or reading. But even with all the windows, it isn't hot inside which is great given that this branch is located in an area of the city that can get quite hot, especially during the summer (when we were visiting). So come, cool down while enjoying a book. Staff is friendly and helpful. They took the time to chat with our kids about our adventure to visit all the LAPL locations. They asked them about what branches they've enjoyed and where we were headed to next. They were just a joy to interact with. We really enjoyed our trip to this branch. If this is your local branch, you've got a great resource at your fingertips.

Depending on where you come from, it just looks like an unassuming building from the park side. With that said, it's a really nice location. There aren't many special frills with this branch, but I think that's fine. It feels slightly more 'utilitarian' of a library. You're here to check out books, do some work, & get out. If you're looking for community events, that's right outside at Petit Park. I don't say that as a knock. Far from it. I think libraries like this have a great use case. Because of the park outside, there aren't many kids running around. This has been one of the more quiet libraries I've been to in my quest to get all of the branch stamps for their 100th anniversary. It's a perfect place to research or focus on something. Keep in mind that because this shares a parking lot with the park, parking can be very limited. Be prepared to park on the street & walk in.

Others have complained on here about staff not being friendly, but the two librarians I interacted with were very friendly and helpful. I had a wonderful time. I also appreciated that this branch didn't feel too crowded and because of that much quieter than some of the other branches I've been to. There's also a decent amount of parking so I didn't find myself circling around the lot or trying to find street parking.

You can tell they're always excited to see young people in eager to read. The location is also very unassuming from the outside. Honestly, I had driven by it dozens of times before even realizing it was there. Out of the corner of my eye, it looked like it was just part of the fire station that's next door. Because of this, if you're not paying attention, you can easily drive by without realizing it. The parking lot is also very small and with tight spots so be prepared to have to park along the street (which is a hill) and walk in. That, or just go during 'off hours' during the weekday if you can to ensure there won't be a ton of people in there. One of the highlights to this location is a large meeting room. They have tons of community events for just about everything under the sun. Be sure to check out upcoming events to see if there is something that strikes your fancy. However, just don't set lofty expectations. I took my kids here for an event (I don't want to call out what it was because the librarian who put it on did seem to have great intentions) that was a total dud. I think it just wasn't planned through enough and or she was just overwhelmed by the rambunctious, loud group of young elementary school kids who showed up. I don't want to say don't take your kids to children events here. Our experience very well could have been a one off. Just set you expectations accordingly. These are events planned and put on by the librarians. They're not experts in any particular field and they are bound by the resources at hand. So, in all, if this is your local library, it's a nice one with a good amount of things to offer. However, if this one is a bit out of your way, I would maybe say just stick to your local branch. Remember, if they have a book here that you want, you can always have it sent to your local brand for free. That's the joy of LA's massive public library system.

When I came in to collect my location stamp, the librarian was so nice. When she found out I wasn't aware that we could get a set of blank cards to carry around with us, she rushed over to grab me not one, but 2 envelopes full of them insisting I take one for me & one for my coworker who is also collecting the stamps. She was just so excited and happy to see someone come in to explore the branch she worked at. I really appreciated that. The library itself is decent. It's not the nicest in the system, but it's also by far not the worst. It's a great option for the people of this neighborhood for sure.
