I don't often use public transportation as it's a bit pricey, but if and when I do the buses always show up and the drivers are always pleasant! The bus station is pretty easy to navigate and see which bay you need to goto. The digital displays have always been accurate when I have used them. Thank you Stagecoach and it's drivers for doing the best you can!

I always went by train (if I wasn't going by coach on the college's field trip), so this time I decided to give the bus a go. Typically, I don't go for the top deck, unless it is one of those open top tour buses, but I figured that it was going to be awhile until I got to Lincoln and I hadn't been to Lincoln this way, so hopefully it would be scenic. If you only bought a single, it is less than £5, so cheaper than a single by train. However, if you buy a return, depending on whether or not you have a rail pass of some sort and how far in advance you purchase your ticket, it could be cheaper or it could be even. That being said, the bus from Grantham takes about an hour and twenty minutes. If you take the train and change at Newark North Gate, you could get there in just under an hour. If you change anywhere else, it could take just under two hours. The view is really beautiful. I had never been on that side of the A607... usually if I am driving on the A607, I'm headed toward Melton, so this was a pleasant surprise and I enjoyed the views! The bus station in Lincoln is centrally located, although watch out, you could get run over by various buses going in and out (I watched a number of people dodging buses...). With either mode of transportation... a night out in Lincoln is not possible, you could stay later if you took the train back, but by later I mean 8 p.m. It isn't half bad, but if you are in a hurry, not really the best way to go and it doesn't necessarily save you anymore money than taking the train.

Until that lottery win comes in though I'll have to settle for a fleet of Vespas. Whilst they are getting their service, it's back to the board and public transport ago. Leeds is pretty well covered on the main buse routes and West Yorkshire Metro are the main suppliers. Now we all grumble about the service and standard in this country but I have to say Metro aren't half bad. What I will rave about is the free city centre buses, excellent. Metro's freecitybus links Leeds' rail and bus stations, business and shopping districts, the General Infirmary, Universities and Park Lane College. Not half bad Jack, especially as they run every few minutes from 6.30am till 7.30pm. You'll also find plenty of buses taking you to the outskirts of the city. Particularly handy if you want to venture to the football at Elland Road or the rugby and cricket at Headingley. They aren't perfect, but hell what is these days. However, after a day hitting the shops or getting home from work you really can't slam the service they provide.

It's by no means the largest station in the country but is certainly adequate for a city the size of Hull. There are six active platforms, it's easy to get between them after passing through the ticket gates and there are a small number of seats to wait before boarding your train. The majority of train services that serve this station are operated by TransPennine Express, which also manages the station. Other operators serving the station include Northern Trains, Hull Trains and the occasional LNER service. I did notice a lack of staff around the station, I had to end up asking a police officer for directions as I struggled to find my way around the station and the city, after arriving for the first time, while he did seem helpful, I felt like a police officer had better things to do than offer directions to a lost and confused tourist. There's a small number of outlets inside the station to pick up a drink, with the traditional offerings of Costa, Starbucks and WHSmith being available. I would advise going to the Starbucks inside St Stephen's nearby if you have more time, however, as the one inside the station costs significantly more and does not accept Starbucks cards. The bus station part of the Interchange is certainly showing its' age, it isn't the most comfortable place to wait for a bus and it's obvious that it hasn't had any money spent on it in years. 3* - OK, certainly nice for a place the size of Hull which is so out in the sticks that the transport options are very limited anyway.

Operated by Stagecoach, this means you can use a bus/tram ticket in the area as one, making it much cheaper than other tram services such as those serving Manchester and the West Midlands. Unlike some other tramway and light rail operators in England, Supertram accepts concessionary travel passes issued by any English local authority. With 50 stations across 4 lines, it isn't the largest of light-railway systems, but it does the job serving most locations you'd want in the city. Services are frequent enough, but they could be improved. Overall, the trams did seem a little old-fashioned, there was limited room on the trams too at most locations meaning it would be quite hard to find a seat at most times, the carriages were also separated by a large step. Some of the stations along the network could surely do with some modernisation in most regards, even by adding more modern signs, seating, lighting and just bringing it in line to the standard by Metrolink in Manchester for example. One of the best ways to get around Sheffield and even South Yorkshire, at an affordable price, making it better than most light-railway systems in that regards, but still let down by old-fashioned, cramped trains which could run a little more frequently at peak times. 3*

A customer already on the tram told me that 10 MINUTES BEFORE I GOT ON the incident was reported. So I got on the tram at 6.25 pm, it went one stop I had just paid and they announced we wouldn't be moving because there was an 'emergency' on the tram in front. If it was an emergency an ambulance would be there right? They priorities all calls. NO. It was 25 MINUTES AFTER I GOT ON THE TRAM A CAR ARRIVED, NOT AN AMBULANCE. THE STAFF WERE RUDE AND UNHELPFUL. I only just found out from 'customer services' today, that First would have let me on with a Stagecoach only ticket in these situations. I did go to the front to get off and for my ticket to be swapped to a city wide but they refused. THE STAFF DIDN'T TELL ME this important information though. I walked back home because I was already late so missed the meeting. Stagecoach really need to get a grip on the fact that NON EMERGENCIES aren't more important than every other passenger on the tram and it should KEEP MOVING or remove the non emergency from the tram to wait for the ambulance.

I cant recommend them highly enough. They offer a range of cars and vans from the small cars such as Ford Kas to huge 7.5 tonne lorries. Prices are very reasonable for a days hire, and they offer reductions for weekend hire or weekly hire if you're looking longer term. Staff turnover is pretty high for some reason, but everyone is professional and the hire managers I've dealt with over the years have always been friendly and helpful. In the past I;ve been able to put business their way through clients of mine and they've responded by treating me like a valued customer and looking after me. No matter what you need or how long you need it for, this is the place to use in Scarborough without question, and I can recommend it without hesitation and hope to use them for years to come.

I booked a few days before arrival and asked for a Ford Focus or similar for 4 days. The price quoted was £108 which I thought reasonable. Having had previous experience with multi national hire companies who quote one price then heap on the charges afterwards. Gill Bradley's price included everything with a 200 mile per day limit. A representative from the company delivered the car as arranged and gave me a lift back to the office to complete the paperwork. I had been upgraded to a diesel Vauxhall Insignia at no extra charge. The car was around 8 months old and clean throughout. I was given the option to drop the car off after closing time but chose to be given a lift back to the campsite during office hours, it was also good to be present while the condition and fuel levels were checked. The £100 deposit was returned into my bank account the same day and because I left the fuel level roughly as I found it there was no extra charge. My experience was 100% positive, I would recommend this car hire to anyone.
