The cliff lift runs from the top of St Nicholas gardens (in the corner by the tea rooms in the sunken garden) down to the sea front. There are several along Scarborough sea frontthe one by the Spa is open for far longer. They are extremely old and quirky, and I love to see the expressions on visitors that have obviously never been in one before.it's an experience! I love the lift, it saves climbing the many steps or steep hills back up into town. The price does seem to rise every year, but given it's age and running costs and just the original experience it's worth every penny..it's not much only about 40p each (pay at the top!) The times can vary so it's best to check otherwise you may still have the climb up the hill, it tends to be open late when there's a show on at the Futurist.
