My son was 2 years old when he got his hair cut here and she made him feel so comfortable that he didn't cry. They know how to make a kid feel secure and want the lollipop. I have been stressed out about my sons hair because it has been growing crazy. I never took him to an actual place to get his haircut because his dad usually did it. Being impatient I went on yelp to find a place near me that cuts kids hair. I found new upper cuts and they were able to assist me without an appointment. The lady who assisted me was very friendly and was able to cut my 3 year old sons hair with no issue. I also was unsure how I wanted his hair cut and she was still able to give me what I wanted. I live in the Fairway area and this cheap place is convenient enough for me and my family. Only my boys go there for haircut but I can say their price is one of the cheapest but does not sacrifice quality of the services they offer. We've been here a few times and it's been hit or miss for my teen son. When he has the guys cut his hair, he leaves pretty happy. When we're in a hurry and we have a female cut his hair, he's not as thrilled. He thinks it's always too short and the fade is not quite right. Definitely not a place to take your kids if they're scared. The place I originally take my son to was closing early today so I figured I could try somewhere new & closer to home. First of all, they make you write your name on a paper but really for what? They don't call the names in the order. I specifically called before arriving to make sure they cut kids hair, when I arrived I asked again & was reassured that they did. Fast forward to almost an hour after arriving, it was finally my sons turn. Now all of a sudden no one is comfortable with kids I was then told to sit my son down on the chair, I asked if they had a booster to which the guy responded "he can't sit by himself" it's not about him being able to sit by himself more so to make sure his hair is cut evenly. Then we were told to move seats to someone else. Okay so I do that & he has a booster for my son. He tried to put the apron on my son & he starts freaking out cos they don't do it gentle at all. Then the lady who cuts hair at the front by the desk says she's the best for babies, okay so I wait another 10 minutes. As soon as she was done cutting someone else's hair, she gives my son a lollipop to distract him & then asks how I want his hair cut. I tell her, then she makes me sit down with him on top of my lap. I told her the apron wasn't necessary since my son didn't like it(I had a long sleeve on him for this reason) she turns the clippers on & my son got a little startled. Instead of making him feel comfortable she grabs his hands & tries to cut his hair while he's trying to turn around for me to hold him. It's one thing to try to calm the kids down but to touch them when they're scared is absolutely unacceptable! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. read more

I've been getting my haircut here for about three years. My stylist is Thuy the lady on the left. I normally get a Fade and she does an awesome job and it only costs 8 bucks!! I've gotten a haircut from most ladies here and I have never had to complain. This place is clean and friendly with a 42" flat screen tv. On a side note, there's a taqueria next door that makes fresh squeezed orange, carrot juice or my favorite the mix. read more

Great service! I didn't trust haircuts under $25-30. I'm used to going to barber shops. But I've heard about this place and never heard anything bad. Tried it and I was out in 15 minutes! I'm use to staying in the chair for about an hour! Granted they don't use a razor, but that's fine. Less skin irritation for me. One thing I suggest, and I don't mean to be rude, but if you appreciate a solid looking fade just don't go to the older man. Otherwise, by all means. I've been to just about everyone and never had any issue, but he will cut my hair on top when I told him no don't touch it and there's always that dreadful line that I cannot stand for the fade. I've been to him 4 or 5 times and finally worked up the courage to say no I'll wait for the next available chair. Again, I am used to I guess "higher end" barbers so I'm a bit picky. Probably one of my favorite recent finds. It's located in the same hub as sonic and although they tend to be busy, they have so much staff and work quickly so the flow moves quickly and you can get seated relatively fast. I was also impressed by how much attention to quality each barber gives. My barber was exceptional but I noticed all the other people were so attentive to their customer. Lastly price, $8 is probably the cheapest I've seen in a long time which is a great value, I ended up tipping. Some people may not like that they don't fake appointments but for me that's a plus, I know exactly where I stand in line and won't end up getting pushed in favor of an appointment customer. This place is a hidden gem! I took my son here yesterday and they were super fast and accommodating. I forget the name of who attended my son but he was extremely kind. He helped me place my daughter who I had in the infant carrier on the floor as he could see I was struggling to get my son who was scared in the chair. The man had lots of patience, I had to sit down with my son in order to get him to cut his hair, he have him a lollipop to distract him. Even after the cut he gave me a towel and told me if I wanted to clean the remaining hair he couldn't get off of him in the bathroom. I will definitely come back. He did an awesome job! read more

She wouldn't stop yapping and then when I told her that she had cut way too much hair and that I did not want it that way, She insisted that it was my fault and that she did nothing wrong. This is the go to place for my brows. Whenever i have an event coming up, i always head here for a good waxing. I never experienced anything unpleasant, and the girl who does them always leaves me feeling good about my eyebrows and the $10 well spent. Haircuts, however, NO NO NO NO NO. I went here when i was a freshman in high school for a Taylor Momsen type do, and it was atrocious. The stylist took in NO consideration about my hair type and literally spent less than 20 minutes cutting my hair. As a new high school graduate looking for a change, i decided to give their $8 haircut a second chance. Same stylist. She did take in consideration how long i wanted to cut to be (asked and confirmed multiple times) but once again, my layers are SUPER choppy and look really unprofessional. I feel like i could have done better with kitchen scissors. Overall, go here to get your eyebrows done. Attention people who care about there health should not come here. The lady barber will cut you with there dirty blades which can seriously transfer diseases. I felt a burning pain on my back from the cuts when taking a shower. Came here for the first time today to get haircuts for my two little boys. They looked busy but they were able to take us right away. Danny was the one who cut my son's hair and he was super friendly. He did a great job on his haircut and you can't beat the price they charge. I can't stand places that charge over $20 (not including tip) to cut a 5 year old's hair. I am very pleased with New Upper Cuts! So glad I found this place! My family lives in Union City so I decided to find a cheap salon for my son's haircut. I've tried few ones in the Peninsula and they were alright. I've been here twice and had the same guy do my my son's hair. Both times we waited only 5 minutes. From Yelp pictures, I saw they had a child's chair but not anymore. They just have regular chairs and they use a booster for kids. My 2 year old son didn't wanna sit on it so one parent sat on the chair and our son sat on our lap. I just showed a picture and the guy was quick to give my son a haircut. My son is pretty patient so he did well. But if your kid does not like getting a haircut, they might not be able to do the cut you want. The second time time my son got a haircut here, he fell asleep halfway through (must be relaxing) and it made it easier to the barber to do his job. I'd recommend coming here. $8 for a haircut, heck yea! Make sure you tip generously! read more

I wish I could give this place a zero star. I went for a skin fade with short on top. The hairdresser was cutting my hair in a hurry as if he had some place to be (or maybe they wanted to cut hair of as much people as possible). The front side of my hair wasn't even cut out properly and I had to go home and cut it myself so that it looked good. The side fades aren't even on point. The haircut was done in 5 minutes but with a whole lot of mistakes. I didn't say anything then and there because I didn't notice the mistakes until I was getting back home in my car. Also, I gave the barber ten dollars cash but he didn't give me my two dollars back (considering their price is at $8). After all the mistakes on my hair no way in hell would I tip him extra $2. This place can be a hit or miss, it depends on how lucky you are and which hairdresser you'll end up with. One thing I know is I'm never going back here for my haircut. read more
