Highly recommend this place! Even when there's a wait, they move fast without rushing the quality. Just tell them what style you're looking for and they'll deliver. My wife and I love coming here--great results at an amazing price! read more

Reasonable price and they're very quick with very high quality..I like them a lot!! They can get quite busy, so go early like 9 AM read more

They are great. Cut my son's hair very quickly and only cost $12. One of best deals in town. We usually wait for Billy, Tom or Danny. But heard all the women are great too. Always a line, which isa good sign. read more

Inexpensive compared to other places that want to make the haircut experience some sort of IG post or social media marketing (which I can't stand). The staff is nice and efficient read more

My husband been going to Tom for his haircut needs for years now. He finally got me to try out the business and i have no regret. My husband told me to have my cut with Thuy. She is so sweet. She cut my hair with long layer and it came out great. I have neglected my hair because you know..life happens. I asked her if she can do my roots and she told me to comeback on Monday which I did. I am so happy I came because my hair feels healthy, and I actually like how I look again. She did such a great job! I am so happy. And the price is so reasonable, that they got a new customer! read more

I had a very disappointing experience at this salon. I waited over an hour, and no one called my son's name. The staff were speaking only Chinese, which made it impossible for anyone else to communicate, and they were very disrespectful. This was my second visit, and unfortunately, it was just as bad as the first. I will not be returning. read more

This place gave a family member ring worm by not wiping down there chairs... lord knows if they disinfect anything else.

my hair got absolutely ruined when I asked for a zero fade on the side and 2 inches off the top. Now my hair is way too short and not the way I intended it to be. Person who cut my hair pressured me to "look up a picture" to supposedly "get inspiration" when all I wanted was the zero fade and few inches off the top. I suggest this place just gives what people ask for instead of ruining hair like mine. This place sucks don't recommend. read more

I've been taking my teen son here for the last couple of years. He's pretty picky about how his hair is cut and he gives this place a thumbs up! Some days, it's really packed in there and they have about 6-8 people cutting hair. Be prepared to wait a bit. Make sure you sign in when you get there so you're on their list. read more

I have been coming here for about 3 years now. I alway enjoy getting my hair here. vibe is enjoyable as there's music. 5yr old son loves here. they just hired this new stylist who took care of me with a nice fade. she even went as far as cutting my daughters hair which is very difficult to deal with because of the volume. happy with the service. read more

I was sat fairly quickly. The person who assisted me asked how I want my haircut. As she was cutting my hair, I noticed she was cutting it too short. I brought it up to her and she proceeds to say "I think short hair looks better on you." Don't understand why they ask how I want my hair cut when they just go ahead and cut it however they want... read more

Pricing as of now is $12 but that's still super cheap with inflation. My kids continue to go here even after all these years. There's always a wait but it's in a shopping center where you can kill some time. read more

My son and I went here for the first time ever as we needed to get a hair cut. My son got his done first while I waited for my turn. There was another lady cutting hair and when she was done with the customer, she went ahead and cut my hair. They were pretty quick with cutting our hair, we both got our hair styled and we love the results!!! Even though we were not charged the $12 posted outside their window for a haircut, our total costs (w/tips) was still a lot more economical than we have been charged at other hair salons. They do charge an extra $1 for credit card payments. I highly recommend this place. Also, they have plenty of parking as they share a lot with other stores. This is a nice shopping center to go to as there's Grocery Outlet, Dollar Tree, Jack in The Box, etc. We will definitely come back here again. read more

New Upper Cuts - Short hair, don't care! - Hair Salons Near Me - Hayward, California

If I could give them a zero star I would. 2 Ladies were rude to me she embarrassed me in front of people and said I was mean. I was like what did I ever do to you?? They denied my little boy service twice by 2 ladies. They said we asked for too much when clearly some parts of his hair was long and I asked for them to fix it. Pretty obvious if you know how to cut hair I shouldn't have to say anything. They are rude, if they don't like you they will put other people in front of you so beware and pay close attention , just cause I don't speak your language doesn't mean I don't know your talking crap about me as your staring right in my direction. I don't believe in negative reviews but this place deserves it. My 16 year old use to like coming here that's why I came here until they told him too "you ask for too much I don't want to cut your hair " Tom. I know it's cheap here. Although they say it's $12 haircuts on window which is false advertising they charged us $15 . But no one has the right to talk to me or my son like that. I will never ever come back here with these rude, ignorant, thinking they're all that, self centered people. Rude, Rude, Rude! read more

Love this place. Been a loyal customer since 2018z For $12 (before tip), this place blows the competition in the nearby area. Customer Service is top tier -- The people here are really nice and always greet me when I come. They have taken the time to get to know me and ask about my life and work. There is always that stereotype that Vietnamese establishments speak poorly about patrons but they didn't know I was Vietnamese until a year in. I've never heard them speak unkindly about customers. They give a mean fade but I'd recommend low fade -- Their mid fade seems a bit high depending on who you sit with. All of them cut very well but be sure to emphasize what you want. Don't say, "Just a fade" without emphasizing how high you want to go up or a bald / zero fade. Etc. They listen and try their best (accurately) to cut based off of your specifications. Overall, great service for the price point. Don't forget to tip! read more

Always busy, friendly staff good prices . Most other places charge twice as much. I recommend to anyone who wants a good deal

Absolute BEST place for haircuts. I get my hair cut here as well as my 2 year old son. They are so sweet and accommodating, Santana actually enjoys getting his hair cut here. 10/10 recomend for the whole family. read more

See all

Sometimes they charge $12 and sometimes they charge $15 for men's haircut. Wish they were more consistent in their price.

Whole family was going here for years. Not anymore! LIED to my face when I asked why they skipped calling my son's name on the list three times! What's the point of writing our name down then when you're going to call the names lower on the list to go ahead of us? They favor certain people at this shop... keep favoring those new people you like and you will continue to lose the loyal customers who was going there every 2 weeks for the last 5 years. read more

best value haircut. all the negative reviews are too high maintenance and should go to Hair clips instead.

Since I travel super far just to get my kiddo's haircut, I was really looking for something quick and convenient. While browsing through Yelp, there weren't a lot of kid-friendly places in Hayward, but I did come across New Upper Cuts while browsing and saw good reviews for kids' haircuts so I decided to try it out. Thanks my fellow Yelpers. Not knowing what to expect, I walked in and signed my name. The place was packed on a Tuesday afternoon so I knew it was popular. It looked like one gentleman was the go-to for the kids, so another (male) barber asked if I wanted to wait for him and I said it didn't matter since I don't know who was who. For $8, I wasn't expecting much, but I also didn't want them to butcher my two-year-old's hair. My kid is a seasoned client so he was very cooperative and sat there the whole time. The gentleman complimented him on how well he did. I was a little bummed that there was no kids' car-seat since I saw it on a photo on Yelp, but that's ok. The end result was impressive and the barber took his time. I was appreciative of how patient he was with my son. Sorry, I didn't catch his name, but I'll definitely go back to save money and time. I used to drive to Fremont or Brentwood and pay $18 so I'm convinced! read more

New Upper Cuts - End result...and a lollipop later :) - Hair Salons Near Me - Hayward, California

Vicky knows how to cut men's style such as high bald taper & mid drop fade for $12 not including tip. She also cuts my mom & grandma & she does there eyebrows. This place could get busy Friday night & Saturday all day be prepared to wait. Vicky is the best here but there can be times where it's so busy that u wait for so long & they cut people that is just coming in the shop. So it can create bad service & be unfair to others where they cut people first that didn't even wait for a long time & it seems like when they know the person that tips well they give them first priority. The inside seems clean & spacious & hope they have more chairs so people that is waiting can all sit. If u use credit card there a extra charge. read more

No doubt one of the best haircuts I have gotten in my entire life you should really try this place. It is amazing!

I love this place. They are great with cutting kids hair. My 6yo son wiggles and still his hair comes out looking really good.

Walk in appointment. Took my mom here for the first time . When we got there, they greeted us promptly.. Her cut was $21. She was happy with it. Clean and would return. read more

My go to place for cuts. Amazing value at $12 for a haircut. This place is best for those looking for quick and easy cuts. The employees are Vietnamese and the culture and social etiquette is definitely expressed here. The unique dynamic between the employees with one another and to their customers can be interpreted negatively if you're not prepared for it. I recommend this place if you're looking for a haircut, and only that. read more

Kim is the greatest! My son loves her so much! She's so loving! I love coming here because everyone is so friendly & the service is quick!

0 stars. Come here if you don't care about higiene and quality. Came here today and was the worst haircut of my life. Not sure of the guys name who helped me but it was an older asian gentleman who doesn't speak english. He was about to start cutting me and didn't even disinfect any of his equipment ( he had just cut someone else's hair). I told him if he could disinfect and pointed and his spray, he had no clue what i was talking about and moved his phone that was playing music thinking I was complaining about that. I can tell he never disinfects his stuff because his spray is tucked in the back of all his stuff. The haircut was horrible, messed up my sides and left two bald spots. Didn't line up my sides like how i asked him two. He just shaved me like if i was in the military and went super rough when i asked him to be careful with my fresh pierced ears. He didn't even bother putting alcohol after finishing the haircut. Didn't even wipe off the excess hair, he just finished the cut and immediately took me to charge me. Now i'm stuck with infected barbers rash ringworm on the back of my head. NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN. Don't trust these reviews, people clearly don't care about their hygiene. read more

Hair was cut uneven on both boys...customers had bare feet on chairs. Pretty gross...won't be returning

This place has great hours. We also walked in on a Sunday afternoon and only had a 5 minute wait. The lady was very nice to my son and double checked how short we wanted it. It was his first hair cut since the shut down. She took her time..for 12 $ and tip it was a great deal. Thank you read more

I waited 30 min my name to be called, was next and they took someone in that just walked in, whats the whole point of name list

I would give this place 0 star but unfortunately I can't...Some of the people working there such as the ladies are extremely rude!! I showed a picture on how I wanted my hair done and she said it wouldn't look good on me and was persisting I get something else when I stated already that I wanted my hair done this way...I heard her later saying I had attitude overall don't recommend this place very unwelcoming and very rude comments read more

I went to this shop for the first time on 10/24/23 and was very satisfied with the service. I got a regular "old man" haircut and it looks great. There was a 10 minute wait but they have at least four active chairs so it wasn't a problem. The cost was $12 plus tip. I would definitely go there again. read more
