Today is my first time getting food here. I got the fowl stew chicken (poul du), white rice, black bean sauce (sos pwa nwa), veggie stew mix (legume), fried plantain and "pikliz" (spicy onion sauce). Everything was absolutely delicious except for the pikliz (sorry I've definitely had better). I ate the rice, chicken and bean sauce. I bought the legume just to try it and it tasted great! I will be having this tomorrow with white rice! Of course, I could not eat all this food, which is a fantastic thing. They gave a good amount of food which was above and beyond satisfying. The best part is that this Haitian food definitely reminds me of home! Note that today being a Sunday, I really went for the squash soup (soup joumou), but they were unfortunately all out. Squash soup is a very popular Sunday soup. Call ahead! I will definitely be returning for that soup since the food I ordered was so delicious. I 100% definitely recommend!! read more

My family and I had an INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE with "New Taste". We catered events back to back and we needed someone to supply us with food to feed over 150+ people 2 days in a row. "New Taste" EXCEEDED our expectations. They were professional, on time and the food was great. Our menu consisted of a variety of items from black rice, black rice with shrimp, griot (fried pork) , curry chicken, roasted chicken, Haitian Mac and cheese, potato salad and many other items. They even provided us with dessert; a classic upside down pineapple cake which was so moist, it made my soul happy! 2.5 stars: I appreciate the fact that I can have Haitian cuisine a skip, hop, jump away from my house. Me being Haitian-American, I might be a tough critic due to the fact that my momma's Haitian cooking is what I'm used to. So here goes: -Passed by this spot on a Saturday night (without a bulletproof vest but my doors were definitely locked--this hood is a little rough). Couldn't find parking--double parked on street. -A few Haitian patrons inside waiting for their take out orders, all seemed very nice. -Ordered the "Fritaille"- a platter of fried finger delicates: Griot (fried pork), Akra (malanga fritters), and fried plantains. I also asked for "Pickliz"- Haitian concoction of hot peppers and onions meant to spice up the dish. -Ordered my mother the Tassot (Goat) and rice. The result: -The Griot was on point: greasy, fatty, and flavorful just how I like it. BUT they gave me too many pieces that had the fatty parts. -The Akra: goldenly crisp, also flavorful, my favorite part of the platter. -The Plantains: How does one mess this up? By not frying it well enough causing it to be soggy. I tried to save it by putting them into the toaster oven on the "baked" settings but seriously wasn't that great. At a certain point I couldn't eat them anymore -Tassot: The amount of greasy oil around the rim of the platter made this already a heart attack waiting to happen. It was way too greasy and salty. -The Pickliz: a huge joke. They chopped up onions and some water together, no hot peppers, nothing spicy or even edible about it. Very disappointed. -Portions were beyond generous--a large was good to feed the nation of Haiti or two fat Americans. Prices were decent. The inconsistency of the food makes me a little nervous for this spot but I will def try it again because I have to support my people. #HaitianFoodMatters read more

Always canceling order. Soups never available. Always substitute with things not ordered. Really bad business. My orders have been cancelled at least 5-6 times. And always after waiting in the food for 45 min. Food is acceptable. Limited Haitian cuisine in this area. So do better business. But good luck. I'm done with trying to support this restaurant.
