Looking through the menu of Harry's, I took interest in and ended up ordering their fried grouper sandwich with Harry's collard greens, and a key lime pie, which both were items I had an interest in trying while visiting the city of Tallahassee. Whether it be Grubhub or now Uber Eats, I love ordering online because it is convenient. Much praise to the Uber Eats delivery driver, Dezi, for arriving with my order at a reasonable time, as well as meeting me in front of the hotel. And Dezi also confirmed that it was me grabbing the order, which I cannot thank her so much for. Once I retrieved my order, it was so hard to not smell it inside of the elevator while heading up to my hotel room. First, I want to say that I was satisfied with the presentation of what I ordered. However, I was not satisfied with the way it was placed inside of the bag, which led to the collard greens leaking slightly, and the cream of the lime pie being splattered around the container. Now my mouth salivated prior to taking my first bite of the grouper sandwich, which appeared big! I mean, it literally took us out of Tally and dropped us in a tropical paradise. As the sun went down, the lights began to glow. The ambiance was surreal. I repeatedly told my husband I felt thousands of miles away from home. Was it the cafe lights or the Sangria? I can't be sure. The live music began and it was a whole vibe. Heads turned, ears perked up, and an entire terrace just exhaled. The sultry atmosphere was only overshadowed by the savory food. Dear Lord we ate far too much. What is that saying? Ask forgiveness not permission. Sounds about right. We started with cocktails and Fried Yucca. The Jamaican Margarita was a perfect blend with a sweet sugared rim. The Sangria was a full party in the glass with fresh fruit. The Yucca portion was hefty, but we ate it ALL. In hindsight, we should have saved more room for our actual meal. We ordered Lomo Saltado Beef that was so tender and rich, and it was accompanied by another hefty portion of indulgent carbs. See? That's where moderation in our starter would have been wise. Ahh lessons learned. If we had saved half of the Yucca for leftovers it would have reheated in an air fryer beautifully. Perched atop a great classic--deviled egg with bacon bits--the oyster was tender with a light batter-fried coating. Chef's duckfat cornbread drizzled with just the right amount of avocado butter provided the perfect podium on which two blackened shrimp lightly dusted with a hint of subtle spices rested. If you know me, you know I don't like my food to hurt me, and this dish met my requirements with a whisper of, "Here I am." Now, my hubby doesn't like anything with coffee, so he was worried about the hickory smoked chicken with espresso molasses BBQ sauce. However, he admitted the sauce didn't have any hint of coffee and, in fact, it was a delicious complement to the chicken. As for the pancetta Mac 'n' Cheese, its creamy cheesiness balanced out the smokiness of the chicken. Chef Joseph often offers one of his Pot de Crème varieties to finish a meal. Here is where we go for that special occasion. Tonight Carson was our waiter and he has years working here for Drew (Alas absent tonight), Savour's owner. We elected to split the Wedge salad (trust me it's more than enough for a $3 up charge) and had the Whipped Feta Cheese with Pita to go with the salads. Charcuterie board was not on the menu tonight. Since Christmas is around the corner and a Prime Rib looms, we elected to forgo steaks. Carson described the Scallops and the description matched the dish exactly. Four big scallops with a great sauce mounded on a bed of fresh corn and (sorry I didn't see what else was there). I had the fresh fish (blackened Flounder) in a New Orleans spicy sauce and rice (I'm not doing this justice). Carson advised this was spicy and it was. It was out of this world. A home run by the Chef (please come out some evenings and say hi - and take a bow). Dessert was a Lava cake with ice cream, one of 4 desserts offered tonight. Trust me, if you like gooey chocolate (like having a chocolate soufflé), this was the keeper. Service was impeccable. We missed Drew welcoming his guests but his team has been there a long time and were quick seating us. Carson was everything you could ask for in a waiter.
