Updated review 5/11/24:…read more It has been nine years since we have discovered this restaurant in Hempstead, NY. Nine years later, we are still going strong with China Garden of Hempstead because of their commitment to providing delicious food. It is one of few places that I will purchase chicken wings from because of the freshness of the meat and they don't have feathers on them. Their prices have gone up significantly but so have other countless restaurants so they are stuck with my son and I. Their consistency is what keeps me coming. Service is good and orders are cooked quickly. The decor is basic. Keep up the good work China Garden.

This restaurant is always clean, and the retro, eclectic décor gives it a lot of character. The service has consistently been excellent. We never have to ask for anything beyond placing our order because our server always anticipates what we need, and every member of the staff has been friendly and polite. As for the food, this is easily the best American-Chinese restaurant I've had on Long Island. Our favorites are the General Tso's chicken, which is perfectly crispy and coated in just the right amount of sauce, the crab rangoons, which are generously filled with crab and cream cheese, and the house fried rice, loaded with a great mix of proteins and plenty of egg. If you haven't been here yet, I'd absolutely recommend giving it a try. I'd put much more weight on your own experience than on a handful of reviews that seem wildly out of step with what we've experienced.

We had bean curd and vegetables, sesame chicken, vegetable rice, and chicken and shrimp. My family found it all very delicious. We will definitely be back!

The place is huge, a perfect place for any celebration or a private family event on its party room. Noticed a sign saying ayce dimsum service everyday from 11:30-3:30. Current pricing -$20 pp. definitely a good reason to return. We dined in for dinnertime. We had excellent choices on its menu. Our food tasted so good, surpassed our expectations. The dumpling soup was not good but I loved my walnut prawn. My husband enjoyed his string beans with pork. My friend was overwhelmed by his sizzling seafood. My girlfriend liked her prawn in garlic sauce. The servings are big and could be shared, that's how we enjoyed all of our selections. We expected that there will be leftover. Guess what? we only consumed half of our serving plates. Pricing is very reasonable . I could see myself returning, this time with friends.

The shrimp lo mien was very tasty and a good portion size. The fried chicken wings were decent too. BUT, I also ordered General Tso chicken and it was disgusting! It was fried entirely too hard, in old oil, and was covered in a red sauce- red red like food coloring- see pic. General Tso usually comes with broccoli- this order came with **TWO** small broccoli florets with lots of carrots, celery and green peppers--- YUK! I also ordered egg rolls and was given all pork! I guess if you don't specify no meat- they automatically give pork. Finding good Chinese takeout nowadays is a hard task but this place is definitely NOT it.
