This place is great. You can bring three generations together for a family chicken meal (please make reservations so you don't stress out the servers, this place gets busy fast! ) I had ribs and chicken, with mash, nothing was left on my plate. The milkshakes were a hit with the teenagers. And I seriously love the coleslaw, perfectly balanced. The historical photos of the area are also very th interesting. This was our first ever visit I New Sarum , It was interesting and very good . Clearly a very popular restaurant on Sunday , it was nearly a full house n The staff were very prompt and friendly . There is a few chalk boards with special , I did not see it too we were leaving My wife enjoyed liver W Onions and real potatoes and sliced veggies I had crispy pork snitzel W apple sauce . Very disappointed. On my first visit the food was edible but unfortunately on this visit it was awful. The pot roast specialty was stringy, the potatoes bland almost like packaged potatoes, the gravy tasteless, the vegetables my other guests ordered were from a frozen package and the beans I ordered as a side,canned and lukewarm. I would have sent them back but the whole meal was irredeemable so not much point. My daughter's rhubarb strawberry pie was fake tasting and the crust like cardboard. The consensus of all 4 of us was that the only decent part of the meal was the horseradish. read more

My favourite thing to do when my sister from out of town visits me is drive around the London/St. Thomas area, discovering new places, and this was one of them! What an awesome discovery. We we're just driving around enjoying our day and we started to get a big hungry so we decided to look some places up to eat, and up popped this quaint little diner. Both my sister and I are not from around these areas, so we were quite excited when we got out of the car and walked into this place. The exterior looks like an old wooden barn, but as soon as you walk inside, you're filled with nostalgia as the interior looks like an old '50's style diner. The waitress told us we could seat ourselves and we did, she handed us the menu and we perused the menu, I ordered the chicken caesar wrap and my sister ordered the club sandwich with french fries. Both came out in a decent amount of time and tasted like your good old regular diner food. We we're quite content with our meals, packed them up to go, because the amount of food was good size, and went on our way to venture some more. Definitely want to come back and try their breakfast menu, and maybe discover a little more of this area. This diner located between St Thomas and Alymer is the gem of the area. It has been in business since 1943!!!! The selection of food is excellent. High quality home cooking, such as pot roast, fish and chips, and roast chicken, their specialty. The portions are large, the prices fair, the taste wonderful. Service is fast and friendly. Most of the servers are over 40, and know how to make you feel at home. A great place to eat, especially for families. read more

We happened upon this while driving back from the beach. First of all the decor is beautiful, especially in the dining room. The staff was super friendly and when we sat down we found out it's been owned by the same family for 40 years. We had the "famous chicken" family style which was like a full on Easter dinner! If homesytle comfort food with the charm of an "old fashioned" diner is your thing, you won't find better anywhere in the vicinity. When walking in the diner section, you feel like you've been transported back in time. Sadly we could not eat in that area, as 1 person in our group was a little too big to fit in the booths. (I'm being as polite as possible). Anyhow we headed back to the dining room seated at nice table on the slightly elevated section on the left. Service was excellent. Coffee & pop re-fills came quickly. I had the "Deluxe Dinerburger". Excellent & flavourful hand pressed patties. It came with fries & cole slaw. Too full to try any dessert. I have been dinning at New Sarum since i have been a little kid. There are 2 parts to the restaurant. One the main dinning room with large windows, large and small tables and a fireplace and then on the other side more of a causal restaurant with booths and a bar. The menu is simple but good with classics like roast chicken, veal parmagene and many others and there classic milkshakes and desserts are great. In the main dinning room they also have a player piano. make sure to tell one of the waiters/ waiteresses when it is someone's birthday or anniversary. They also have a back room where you can hold small family events like a recepition or reunion. All and all I love New Sarum and it is a restaurant to be discovered! read more

We showed up at 11am, just as a large group was arriving. I was assuming that it would take a little while longer to get our food but the speed of service was absolutely incredible. Our food was ready so fast and the crowded dining room was packed with meals quickly, and all with only two waitresses. The burger I had was handmade and incredibly delicious. This establishment lived up to its reputation as an outstanding home style family restaurant. This was my first visit and I was delighted with the chicken and dumplings dinner special. This restaurant is known for being consistently good. Good food, good service, good atmosphere. New Sarum Diner has three different dining areas. One for Soda Fountain type dining...reminds one of the good ole days. One for finer dining and also they have a large room they rent out for larger gatherings. Family style dining is one of their specialties where they will place bowls of food on the table. This is a fabulous location for those big family gatherings. Not what it use to be. Remember when the barn section at the front was white and the addition wasn't there? That was when the food at the New Sarum diner was worth the drive from London or Iona Station. Have lived away from St Thomas for over 40 years and just moved back. I was really disappointed to take my spouse there this past week as I had really boasted about this place. The hot hamburg was covered in the most salty gravy I've ever tasted, the mashed potatoes were very lumpy and the mixed veggies tasted like they had just come out of the freezer. What ever happened to the quality food this diner used to serve? Keep it up and they will end up like Mackies in Port Stanley. Now to try Chef Bondi and Capri pizza and see if they still stand the test of time? read more

I just love this place! Like the other reviewer I have been coming here getting milkshakes with my dad since I was very little. Its a restaurant experience I cannot describe because its not like any other place I have ever been. Its as if when you walk in your transported back in time in a great way. If i ever had a go to restaurant this would be it. For the 25 years I have been going to this place if I could say anything it has always been consistent in every manner. The foot long hotdog tastes like the footlong hotdog I had when I was a kid. The service has always been good and has been like that since I was a kid. And the milkshakes are still made the same way using the same machine and coming in the same glass since I was a kid. It literally feels like home when I walk in the door. The other reviewer got the details dead on but missed one thing, the player piano in the big room with the fireplace. Fond memories of a staff member coming out and winding it up and letting it play while we ate. read more
