I have been here a few times and the food always sits heavy in my stomach no matter what I I order. The burger i ordered was flavorless even with the Swiss cheese. The cheese was saltless and plastic like but had a good stretch. The patty had no flavor. The fries were okay this time but are usually better. The onion rings were not good today. The batter was flavored but they weren't fresh. Today they were undercooked and some fries were cold/lukewarm in the inside. My brother got a salad and enjoyed it. Diner is cool. Very large menu selection. I ordered the bananas foster french toast. Not exactly the correct recipe. Cut up bananas with some caramel syrup is not bananas foster. Its made with vanilla, cinnamon, butter, ripe bananas, brown sugar and rum. Im sure the rum might not always be appropriate but at least some of the ingredients. Not the greatest meal. You can't go wrong with a good old diner. We ventured here because it was late and we knew they were open. You need to have an idea of what you want because the menu is extensive. They also have an extensive drink menu and they have drinks to go too. I went with a classic item - bacon cheeseburger with crispy fries. It's extremely hard to mess that up so I knew my meal was going to be great and it was. It was a nice lively crowd with a mixture of all ages. We were seated pretty quickly as a party of 8 but there was long wait for 2 person parties . For the most part it's a regular Diner. They do have Alcoholic drinks on their menu and also milk shakes and other desserts. To eat I ordered the Oreo pancakes and bacon the pancakes were dry and the bacon tasted like they had cooked it earlier and just reheated it to serve. The bacon looked crispy but it wasn't. I also ordered the sampler #1 which consisted of onion rings, buffalo wings, tenders and mozzarella sticks ( this was decent) My friend got a plain waffle with scrambled eggs and sausage. He said his food was okay nothing to rave about. The waiter had stop by and ask if I wanted the pancakes to go home and I said no and she then asked was everything okay and I told her I didn't like them and how they were dry and not good. It's a really solid diner with a way big menu and too many options like most diners do. The space is clean and well lit. There's usually no wait for seats. Ample parking near I-95 entrance/exit. My go-to order is the crab cake eggs benedict. They use actual real crab rather than the imitation stuff that most other restaurants use! And very reasonably priced for big portions. read more

I love this diner. One of the only places left close enough to NYC that has traditional values. The place is huge and almost always has seating available with little to no wait. Food was great. Menu choices were great. Service was horrible. Our server tall bald headed African American man VERY rude. I was seated on the outer part of the table and he was handing plates to the person seated next to me and he practically had plates inches from my face. As I'm trying to make him aware of this his response instead of being apologetic his response was "I know what I'm doing." He made a comment about doing his job for more than 11 years but STILL managed to get one of our orders wrong and it had to be sent back to the kitchen. He didn't come to the table to see if I wanted another drink (ordered a mudslide) would of been nice to another. But we were given nothing but the silent treatment and attitude. My order was simply a Belgian waffle with fresh fruit, which I specified no bananas only blueberries and strawberries. I also added a Bellini to my order just so I can enjoy the meal. To my surprise the waffle was priced at $14.79 and served with cheap syrup instead of maple syrup!!!! The waffle was something you can order at a local New York deli, nothing to write home about. The Bellini was $14.99 for a glass halfway full, which is not how they do it in Manhattan since they were charging Manhattan prices. Then when I received the bill I realized that I was charged an extra $2.99 for a few slices of strawberry... Surprise, Surprise! I was excited to find out that the soup of the day for when I went was Seafood Bisque. A bowl of that alone was very filling and the French Dip wrap I had ordered ended up becoming leftovers. I was able to eat some of it and it was very satisfying. The bread was the right amount of crispiness and softness and the dip complemented the meat very well. I just had to get a dessert too and went with their tart. It was very interesting looking and sounding but personally I think that I would try a different dessert another time. It was a bit hard to cut through but that is just the nature of the tart I think. They had so many other desserts that I would like to try next time. Not to mention, the portions were huge! I must admit, the low rating on yelp for this place is misleading. I've visited New Rochelle Diner twice in the last 6 months and both times did not disappoint. They're a 24 hour diner and their menu selection is outrageous. I'm talking about breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, and pretty much anything you can think of. There's free parking, an ATM in case you want to take out cash, and barely any wait time. I'm that person who asks for a bite if you're my family member or best friend, LOL. The burgers, tacos, pasta, quesadilla, breakfast platters, etc were all delicious. Let's not forget the carrot cake, cheesecake and German Chocolate Cake, oh myyy oh my. The staff is very kind too. That changed when I entered on a Saturday at 07:00 a.m. into a sunnily bright, esthetically pleasing, diner. Loved how the Sun gave that early morning brightness and glow due to their large windows. Morning greetings welcomed me upon entry. Sat by the to go counter, in front of the Bouquet of Knives and Forks, cozily wrapped up in napkins. Service was swift, yet patient dealing with my few requests. Focusing on my breakfast main, pics do it no justice. The aluminum platter was filled with crisped edged Corned Beef Hash as requested. Plenty of crisp, and actually seasoned Home Fries, plus two Poached Eggs. All hit the spot, with more than enough leftover. Would I return? Maybe, maybe not. The old New Rochelle Diner( The Thruway Diner) use to be an all time favorite for years! The new one still has not risen to the reputation unfortunately. Our waitress Enida was wonderful and very attentive and tried to fix problems as they arose. But if a diner cannot get a simple cheeseburger right, theirs a problem. We started out with the chicken matzah ball soup which was good and full of chicken and veggies. We also ordered two egg creams, one vanilla the other chocolate. So far so good. My grilled cheese with bacon and tomato was perfect and the order of potatoes skins to share were really cut baked potatoes with cheese and bacon and a side of sour cream, but we enjoyed them. The mozzarella cheeseburger came with first a burnt roll. The waitress saw and quickly brought a new roll. Then we saw the burger that was suppose to be medium was cooked to very well done. She brought another burger, this time it was raw in the middle. We ended with a simple jello with whip cream and a chocolate chip cookie and we probably will not be back. I ordered the lamb chops stuffed with crabmeat, my mom ordered baby back ribs with coconut shrimps. For me the lamb chops was nice and tender. My only complaint with the lamb chops was I missed the part where it said charcoal broiled. I don't like the taste of charcoal but other than that it was pretty good (once I scraped off the charcoaled part) lol. And let's remember this is a diner not a seafood restaurant so the fillet of soul stuffed with crab meat it was pretty good for a diner. Always come here for breakfast so decided to have lunch this time. I was greeted per usual by the lovely host and the owner who is the nicest person on earth. I ordered the grilled chicken avocado wrap with onion rings!!! BEST WRAP EVER with juicy tender chicken and good amount of avocado. The reason why i pick this place all the time is not only for the great food they serve daily but for the friendly staff they have and for the wonderful atmosphere they create in the Diner.
