The tools and techniques I learned in her class gave me the confidence and calm I needed--and I used them again when I gave birth to my second child in June 2023. Both births were completely unmedicated, peaceful, and empowering. I wasn't afraid--I actually enjoyed the experience. Alisha is incredibly warm, kind, and grounded. Her presence alone is calming, and she was always able to soothe any fears or anxieties I had. I even called her while in labor, and she guided me through breathing techniques that helped me stay centered. With my first, I arrived at the hospital already 9 centimeters dilated after laboring at home most of the day. It was a beautiful experience. My husband took the class with me, which was so helpful. He knew exactly how to support me and understood the birth experience I envisioned. Because I had such a positive experience, I even reached out to Alisha while my sister was in labor. Although my sister hadn't taken the course, Alisha generously offered to speak with her and provided much-needed reassurance during a stressful time. To this day, I still use the calming techniques I learned, and I'm teaching my children the importance of mindfulness and meditation. Every staff member from the Clinical Director, Isabelle, the house manager , Meryann, the nurse , Massie, both therapists , David and Ben, and all of the MHT's treated me with kindness and ensured that my needs were met. I had a problem with my insurance and Sharon, the Chief Clinical Director, got involved to ensure I received the treatment I needed. The daily schedule is so well curated so you don't really feel like you are in therapy all day but you are really working on yourself and your recovery in a meaningful way. I really enjoyed the therapist led groups that were thought provoking and allowed for open discussion/sharing. There was so much education but it wasn't a bunch of worksheets that you filled out or read from something akin to a textbook. All of the MHT's I encountered were so compassionate and a lot of them are also pursuing careers as therapists themselves which almost felt like a cheat code. You could go on daily walks, to the park, and had numerous opportunities to get out of the house for supervised excursions. I want to address some of the negative reviews. I didn't have any of the experiences that others have but the restrictions and rules that are in place may at times feel onerous or arbitrary but they exist for a reason. The staff is willing to work with you if you are asking for something reasonable. I had numerous requests that were granted and when others weren't I understood why. If you need an elevated level of care, I highly recommend La Ventana.

During the first 10 months, it felt like a revolving door, as each doctor I had an encounter with abruptly exited to work elsewhere. Fast forward to 2026: I've had the same primary care physician (a D.O.) for over 9 years. This D.O. pays attention--doesn't habitually deflect and bypass or interrupt. But getting on the calendar for a follow-up to test results or other scheduling is even harder this year than last year: months, not weeks, stuck in the queue. That 'business model' may be typical for the broader medical industry in California though. I got lucky in 2023 with the new Physician's Assistant available on short-notice for requisite per-surgical screening. The staff support team seems solid at this clinic and I'm glad this convenient neighborhood location has not relocated, as I can even walk or bicycle to get there. Recently, I was able to get a recommended blood panel started there. Thus, no need for a separate trip to CMH hospital or Quest or another lab site. Kudos.
