I was shocked and…read moreappalled to be berated by Cabaret who would lecture me about what "real pain was" telling me "people in wheelchairs" knew "real pain" - the funniest part is that my mom's twin is a quadriplegic so telling me that people in wheelchairs are the only ones with real pain was rich coming from Cabaret.... I started bringing a family member with me at all times to appointments just because the way he spoke to me was so unprofessional, and they all agreed witnessed how he would berate, speak down to and invalidate anything I said, because to Cabaret since I didn't have a physical handicap, my pain wasn't valid to him - even though I had several autoimmune conditions with chronic pain as well as severe rheumatoid arthritis and degenerative disc conditions... After ~2 years of this I stopped seeing him altogether: I couldn't deal with graveling for help for months and receiving treatment here or there while enduring being talked to and treated in such a horrible way. I actually gave up on pain management docs for ~8 years because of experiences here... I powered through pain for so long I ended up with an TLIF spinal fusion with disc replacement due to severe central canal stenosis after going to ER for back pain, I was put in an ambulance for an emergency spinal surgery on a Sunday to prevent paralysis (I was riding my motorcycle through the pain of severe central canal stenosis that required ambulatory transfer and emergency spinal fusion surgery on a Sunday). I was fortunate to finally receive compassionate care from both a neurosurgeon and pain management doctor as recovered (located in Ventura). About a year after my spinal fusion: I needed a facet block and MBB RFA due to nerve pain that never resolved after the surgery. My quality of life is so much better - I feel like I am part of the living again. I hate medications and the side effects of them, but sometimes they are necessary, and sometimes injections or surgical procedures are also necessary for relief. Thankfully, now I see physicians who are compassionate and listen to both visible and invisible pain and will work to find the root cause of it - all while treating me with decency, like I'm a human being.

I have been seeing Cabaret since 2022. At that time I was seeking injections for painful joints. 5…read moreminutes into the appt he told me I had fibromyalgia & injections wouldn't help. I begged him & he finally injected my shoulder. The next visit I begged him to inject my other shoulder, which he did after a lecture about fibromyalgia. He said my pain was due to PTSD, in spite of multiple positive MRIs. I've had 2 neck fusions, lumbar fusion, knee replacement & I just had a shoulder replacement a week ago. It was the 3rd NP at Cabaret's office that got my shoulder MRI after injections stopped working. The NPs were willing to inject my shoulders . It was completely destroyed bone on bone. I've since been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. I've gone to other ortho docs for injections, because since I've been there I've gone thru 3 NPs & now a PA. My rheumatologist has sent him notes asking him to inject my SI joints, but the PA said no, it's a trigger point. Every new employee thinks I have fibromyalgia, so no injection. He refused to manage my pain after back surgery, which led to me being under medicated, since the orthos can't order as much. The Cabaret PA gave me a week of pain meds after my shoulder replacement, & said they'd order more . The pharmacy called them for clarification, & they didn't respond. So here I am, 1 week after total shoulder replacement, & no pain meds overnight & until whenever. I know he's a great doc--but he misdiagnosed me.i will add it was the 2nd NP who recognized my very swollen hands and sent me to a rheumatologist, so that was good. She also got an MRI of my back, and was going to call me to set up a back injection. That never happened. She quit & I fell thru the cracks. I had to see another doc for the injection , since the wait time for Cabaret was months.

Was taken off my debit card and posted immediately. Did not stay and was told I would get it right back, the n t day. Had to make my way home with no car from Ventura, Ca to Los Angeles... in the middle of the night, approx 3 hours from home.. Very bad situation. I call every few months and still haven't gotten my money back, it has been 7 months. I am a very physically disabled person currently approaching major back surgery, and really need this money back. Pax seemed nice, and I gave him the money, but as soon as he went home I was left to deal with staff members who were not less than savage, as they kept my money. I have called 12 times, have logged all of the calls, never a call back. They don't seem like compassionate people to be in the business of helping others. Atleast this was my experience

Hands down the best communication & respect I've received to help me on my journey. I leave next Friday which in turn will be 30 days reset for me. This is my first experience ever in any rehabilitation center. I am glad I can in when I did. I've met some great people here along my journey to support my decision to enroll here. If you're thinking about coming here and can. Do it. You won't retreat it. Top notch care & the food is above average & always fresh. Thank you Logan & staff for being a part of my journey. All the therapist are top line. Jake the gym trainer, the best. Super sweet gentleman. From the services they offer to the nurses. Top line. Not to mention for being form East LA native Mexican-America Chicano, I was treated with Class & respect. All walks of life come here that I lived with for 30 days. Thank you Passages. shout out to John in the RS department.

I have to add…read morethat the discharge process as been amazing with Sean Plummer calling every week to check on us. He has the most amazing personality and the conversation is never boring. It feels like I'm literally talking to a close friend and I'm in a safe place. This has been by far my favorite aftercare process with any residential treatments. Sean is always making sure the family is doing well and if resources are needed, he gladly helps in anyway he can. Because of him. I'm giving Newport 5 stars. We need more Sean Plummer's in this world. Thank you.

Think twice before allowing these folks to care for and treat your child!…read more When we dropped our daughter off, we expected therapy based on compassion, structure, and organization. What we got was anything but. The issues started within hours of dropping her off. She was not happy (of course) and they allowed her to call mom repeatedly, which made the day 1 process 100 times harder than it already was. It seemed that she was allowed to call home (or whoever because she called lots of people) as often as she wanted. As the first week progressed, our daughter had a panic attack and they took her to the hospital instead of simply using their therapeutic tools to calm her down. We got a call saying she was being taken to the hospital with no other communication. Our calls to the facility went unanswered as did our emails to the therapist and or staff members. A week or so later, our daughter got into an altercation with another patient. The call to us was that our daughter was punched by this other person because she was in this person's face yelling. When we asked what was going to happen to this person, we were told.. "Nothing... what do you expect someone to do when they've asked your daughter to get out of her face and she wouldn't." What?? Truth was this person not only punched our daughter, but jumped on her and started choking her as well as punching her chest and neck area. They also failed to mention that when the other residents were leaving the home, this attacker attempted to jump through an outside window and back into my daughters room to continue the attack. As a result of this attack, my daughter had another panic/anxiety attack and was once again taken to the local hospital. The conversations between the facility and us were beyond ridiculous and uncaring. They were blaming my daughter and did not act as if they were in the mental health field. Again, emails to the therapist in charge of the facility were never returned. When we got her from a hospital, we saw the scratches and bruises. She has since been enrolled into a different facility and in the short time there, has made remarkable progress, so again, please do your research before sending your child to residential treatment. I can't speak for all locations, but the Camarillo location is a definite NO for many reasons.
