Very reasonable prices & good food. It's slick & span inside (although it is brand new so is to be expected). I liked that they sneaked in a comp bag of papadums into my order! I'll go back. read more

Around us people were leaving due to not getting any food. We were offered soggy complimentary poppadums as an apologetic gesture. Eventually we received starters which were mostly cold, and needed to be replaced from the kitchen. Mains were another 30 minute wait, and several arrived cold. We did receive complimentary drinks during this time unfortunately a bottle of wine which nobody wanted. Food (that which was hot) was good, but service completely unacceptable.

As I knew I would be dining on my own, I had spotted that they offered a thali, which is a platter of different items and an ideal way to sample lots of dishes if you're on your own. I munched on some popadoms as I perused the menu. Sadly, they didn't do lassi, so I had a pineapple juice instead. The meat thali came with some tandoori chicken, sheek kebab, lamb rogan josh, sag (spinach), yoghurt, pilau rice and naan. I found everything tasty and just the right amount of food for a Yelp tummy. My only note to the chef was to include more sauce on the dish as overall, the combination of dishes was a bit dry The service was very friendly and this is worth a return visit if I'm ever in the area again

There are a lot of restaurants around here, and many Indian restaurants. I am writing this review whilst feeling pleasantly full of some of the best Indian restaurant food that I have had in many years. I think it is fair to say that the specialities are Nepalese and there were items on the menu that I had not tried before. The Nepalese Khutta, Shahi and Hariyali Dish were new to me and I am so pleased to have tried them. And I will be having them again, and introducing my friends to them! Acid test for me in any Indian restaurant is an onion bhaji and Shahi's were like onion patties, a slight crispness on the outside, oniony and not like a flour bomb. Shahi are well worth trying if you live locally. If you are visiting the area they are worth seeking out.

We ordered a selection of starters, mains, rice and naan to share and I enjoyed all of it. The mixed starter was a lovely way to try a few different dishes but not be too full before the main courses. There are no pakoras on the menu which I did find a bit disappointing, but it did make us try something else for a change. We ordered a few different dishes (can't remember them all!) but we definitely had both the Butter Chicken and the Garlic Chicken and a Dahl, all were full of flavour and got demolished! The restaurant was clearly very busy, both with sit in diners and take away orders, yet our order was ready about half an hour after we phoned it through. Would highly recommend giving this place a try.

We found out at the end of our meal that one of the other tables was also from our hotel, a mile walk away. Overall, I think a simple menu done well. We got everything they recommended including the recommended beer from the table next to us. Plain Papadum & Chutney Tray - A must try! Suggestion, these two items should be together on your menu to avoid any confusion on pricing. The sauces also went well with our entree and naan. Tandoori Mix Grill - Good, perfect amount for both of us. As mentioned previously, we are light eaters, especially when traveling. This entree also came with a very light simple salad. Garlic Naan - I can eat this all day! This could even be my meal. After Dinner Chocolates - A nice unexpected touch. Atmosphere - Small local restaurant. Bathrooms need some TLC, but are functional. Indoor/outdoor dining; everyone ate indoors today. Open 7 days a week. Service - Good, had all 3 wait staff help us. This kind of confused us. They were good at upselling, but all 3 team members tried to upsell us. Not in a bad way, but it kept me laughing. I am a light eater, especially when traveling. They all made light small talk which was nice. It was obvious that everyone eating here was NOT local. They also have online promotions, see their website. Price - 28 pounds + tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success, I am so glad that you can benefit from Yelp. See you on our next visit as we were so happy with our hotel we plan to stay there again.

The Tarka Dhal runny and tasteless. The bill came. Ludicrous. Quite mad. 90 pounds for three with popadam starter and a main course. The service was patchy, the room gloomy with the walls covered in hearts which looked like they had been cut out by 7 year olds....in preparation for Valentines day, and the decor, white washed brick, was the same as when the restaurant used to be the Homestead 35 years ago. After hearing a few people rave about the place and reading some of the reviews I ventured in for a spot of Saturday lunch. It was fairly busy without being manic, we were seated quickly and our waitress explained the concept. (It's pretty rudimentary: Get a plate, help yourself, repeat ad nauseum) I found the food to be variable, some of the dishes were on par with what I would expect from a takeaway specialising in that particular type of cuisine whereas others tasted either bland or just plain bizarre compared with my expectation. The food containers seemed to be getting restocked fairly frequently and only one of the dishes I tried seemed like it may have been sitting on the hot plate a little too long. The selection was fairly average for this type of place. It's billed as Pan Asian, when I was there this translated to a selection of chinese and indian dishes with a couple of mexican offerings along with chips, pizza, onion rings and all that jazz. Desserts looked like some kind of diabetic coma inducing sugarfest which I chose to ignore, plenty of cake, jelly and ice cream to whet your appetite. All told the place is OK, but only OK. If I were nearby I would grab a bite to eat here over a fast food joint but if you want a decent sit down eating experience there are plenty of better options open to you within walking distance.
