It's a cold night and you're craving something which will warm you all the way down to your toes…read more You receive a flyer in the mail for an Indian takeaway crowned "County Times Takeaway of the Year" sporting a picture of a succulent looking, perfectly crafted curry. You decide to order two butter chickens, rice and naan bread. You spend the next hour anxiously awaiting the arrival of the curries, a craving which you have waited many weeks to indulge. The curry arrives... You open it... It's cold and smells AND tastes like vomit. Unfortunately, this is the true and accurate story of my first and only experience with this Takeaway Shop. Upon receiving the food after an hour (which I can accept on a potentially busy Friday night) of waiting, both of the butter chicken "curries" were cold, very light yellow in colour, lumpy in consistency and had the smell and taste of vomit. I'm not even 100% sure I could find any chicken, and there were certainly no spices or flavours I could recommend. I called the shop to ask the employees if I had received the correct curry. Surely it couldn't actually be this horrible? I have tasted many curries in my lifetime, having traveled to India and lived in a middle eastern country densely populated with Indians and their glorious restaurants. These "butter chickens" were certainly NOT anything of the sort. The employee I spoke to agreed to replace the curries with chicken tikka masalas (which were ordered in the hopes of receiving something remotely edible). The delivery man arrived after 20 minutes of waiting and exchanged the two butter chicken "curries" with one chicken tikka masala. Further conversation revealed that they had only sent one, assuming that the complaint only concerned one of the curries (go figure?). I called again to ask that the second curry not be sent, after tasting the "chicken tikka masala" and experiencing a taste so vile and sour that I could not possibly continue. Upon calling the store, they explained that the second curry had already been sent despite the request of a cancellation and refund. The store stated that the manager would call back the next day to resolve the issue. More than 24 hours later I had to call the manager myself, to which I endured a painful conversation of attempting to explain the inedible-ness of the disgusting food and argued with by the manager. Refund denied (unless I was willing to go bin diving and retrieve the disgusting mess to return to him - was he going to taste it himself?). Needless to say, I will never be ordering from this takeaway again. Which is a shame because the staff (aside from the manager) were absolutely lovely and tried to be very helpful... and the chicken pakoras were amazing - definitely recommend them 10/10. Otherwise, the "curries" were foul and the naan horribly sweet and confusing. If I can add photos, I will upload the disgusting mess of an order.

My first visit to Cinnamon two weeks ago, was a great success! I had the fish Currey (a dry dish)…read morewhich (a) you rarely see on Indian menus and (b) was full of flavour and delicious chunks of fried white fish. Really well worth a try! The restaurant is very clean (essential)and although there were only three other tables of diners, the atmosphere was calm and relaxing, without the feeling that everything you said would be overheard. Note, it was a Tuesday night! The service was very attentive without being obtrusive. My meal along with my two guests came to £63 including several drinks (hic!) and we left Cinnamon feeling we wouldn't need to eat for another week! I am going back there tonight, can't wait!

We went here for a birthday celebration and as indian restaurants go, this wasn't a standout…read moreexperience unfortunately. We had to ask a couple of times for extra chillies, chilli sauce, anything to liven the food up a bit, however there was inconstancy with one waiter saying they didn't have anything to another getting us some spice. I mean to say there aren't any chillies explains how a lot of the dishes were bland and tasteless as they clearly didn't have any to add in the first place. We order a mixture of veg and meat dishes.. they were ok. Would I go back... maybe. I mean, the service (apart from the one mentioned above) was good, the restaurant was clean and I believe they cater for particular audience - Curry for beginners.
