Unbelievable! An incredible meal, one of the most enjoyable I've had in Eastbourne. I ordered the…read morechana masala and mutar paneer (side dishes, as there aren't many vegetarian options for the main dishes here). The food was absolutely breath taking - all the right spices in all the right places, and thick layers of ghee atop each dish. The paneer was perfectly firm and fried slightly to give a small amount of crisp. That dish had a little more heat than the chana. Coriander added the freshness to the nice amount of heat included in both dishes. I enjoyed sopping up everything at the end with my garlic naan, as the rice portions (charged separately) here are fairly small. The naan was so delicious, crispy and chewy all at the same time, perfect. It wasn't nearly expensive as I thought! About 35 British pounds for the whole meal (including also a seafood curry for my grandmother and some filtered water). Please go here!! You will love it forever.

Greeted almost immediately by the manager and escorted to our table with minimal wait or fuss. There was a waiter within minutes ready to take down our selection of drinks- which arrived in a matter of seconds. Now Im sure you're imaging an empty indian restaurant, however the place was ram jam full! Its impressive that they managed to keep the level of service so high. The dishes on the menu were plentiful and delicious just to read. The atmosphere was warm and friendly- the yellow single roses on each table made the place beautiful. We each selected the Chicken Dhansak and Peshwari Naan. The expression eat till you explode could have possibly been turned into reality yesterday. Though we were all full- the food was just too good to waste. The sizes were perfect and east dish was perfectly spiced with minimal oil. My only fault would be the noise level. It proved difficult to hear the person opposite you. But I can hardly fault the restaurant for that. The meal was completed with a complimentary drink and after eight chocolate. I say my work was done well.

A bit on the pricier side, but the atmosphere is also quite nice / upscale so there's that. It's definitely it your local Indian where most of the business comes from deliveries. This seems to be quite a touristy place but not in a bad way. It's located inside the Lanes and so it's very central. I really enjoyed the meal and would certainly come back for their food.

The bright lights, colorful…read moredecorations, and amazing service were all super memorable parts of my visit to the Chilli Pickle! For dinner, I sat at the communal table and ordered the Set Menu (Veg), which started with a huge platter of pappadum along with pickled onions and three different types of chutneys/jams. Then there was the Chilli Pickle Cornflake Mix, a reinvented version of "Bombay mix" containing cornflakes, lentils, peanuts, chickpeas, flaked rice, cashews, pecans, raisins, and more! This was so crunchy and delicious that I even asked to take the rest home after the meal! On the waiter's recommendation, I tried the pani puri for my appetizer, a typical Indian street food made of puri (a deep-fried puff) filled with potato, chickpeas, and chutney--it also came with a tamarind water on the side, which you poured into the puris before eating. While this was an interesting dish, there was very little flavor to the little puffs, and I thought these was skippable. For my main, I chose the Punjabi Aubergine Curry, made with soft pieces of eggplant in a sauce of tamarind, coconut, and peanuts. It came with a cucumber/tomato/red onion salad and a huge, fresh piece of onion roti on the side. The onion roti was pure perfection--the edges were puffy and chewy, while the inner part was thin and crispy; it had a nice nutty flavor from the whole wheat flour and was the perfect vessel for dunking in the curry! Overall a decent dish, but the flavors and spices were definitely toned down, and the sauce had a more sweet/mild flavorful than other Indian curries I've had.
