It was late for midwesterners (past 7) and this place closes at 10 and I ordered food here because they stayed open a little later than everyone else on a weekday... they were about to close and were SO nice. I have NOT liked any of the take out I've had in the last two years. I was homesick for the good stuff but long since gave up my search. Until now !! Did I mention they were nice people?? These people have won my heart. They're generous w/ portions and the food.. it's fresh and it's good. They have been around for years from the looks of it. I have been searching for a GOOD Chinese restaurant for over six months now, and I finally discovered one: New Garden. The food is delicious, and the portion size is generous. We ordered almond chicken and three egg rolls. We were able to eat almond chicken for three days due to the generous portion size. Due to the generous portion size, I would recommend a larger cup of gravy to go along with the meal. The eggrolls were also delicious. I have been to Ping's, Cheng's, Oceania Inn, Lam Taste Chinese, Wong's Garden, and China Chef Express. None of them compares to New Garden. New Garden is now my go-to Chinese restaurant. 3.5 stars in my book for American Chinese this is great especially for the lunch special. Though what i odrsered was not what I expected the food still tasted great for under $8, maybe I was starving but still. Their fried rice is above average for a take out and not dry like some places. Only issue is their chilli oil. It tastes like plastic and doesn't seem quite right. Lucky it was only 50 cents down the drain but if they changed their chilli oil they would be a perfect 4 to 5 stars for they type of food they serve. Tried for the first time an the food was absolutely horrible. The fried rice was so light it was almost white rice, the General Tso's chicken had no kick was bland. The chicken egg roll was like biting into some sort of stalk. Dried out. Panda Express is better an I'm not a fan of there food. Tried this place out today, like I said in the check in there was a language barrier and the phone was actually handed off to somebody near the beginning of the conversation when I called to place the order. They said for sweet and sour chicken, and a quart of egg drop soup it would be just under $15 for delivery - not to bad. But they said it would take an hour on a Monday night. An hour and 10 minutes go by and I see a man crossing hall road by foot to get to my house. Puzzled I let him in he was completely out of breath - a little weird and the transaction was done. The chicken was good, the sauce was good, the rice was actually better then most, and the soup was good. However they did not add those crunchy things you can usually dunk, and I did get 1 fortune cookie. This is mostly a carryout joint but they do have a couple tables for you to sit if you choose to dine in. We dined in only because we had a million errands to run and needed a quick fuel before we were out in the madness again. If you dine in you have to pay for water (lol!) and you get served out of carryout containers. We ordered the wonton soup which had a weird waxy taste and neon yellow broth? It was truly like no other wonton soup I've ever eaten. I had the general tso because she said it's their best seller and made from scratch sauce and all so I tried it. It was okay, nothing too exciting. A weird thing that happened though was when I asked for sauce for my eggroll she picked it up and poured sauce all over it....ummm what?! It's back, it's back, thank goodness it's back. Some time ago, this was a very nice Chinese restaurant that also had the word "Garden" in it (maybe the same name). I even reviewed it, though the review has mysteriously disappeared. Then, the proprietors retired. It was taken over by a different group of people with different recipes, which I did not care for. Now, it appears that someone with a connection to the original owners has returned. Why do I think so? Tofu Pad Thai is why. The old restaurant had it. The replacement didn't. In fact, very few Chinese restaurants have it and very few of those do it anywhere near as well as this one does. Start it off with a first-class spring roll and you're good to go. I have been loyal to the same chineese restaurant for the last 20+ years. Decided to give this place a shot based on their yelp reviews and the fact that it's 5 minutes from my house. Wasn't disappointed. The egg drop soup was fantastic. My sweet and sour chicken was great also. Their rice was a bit different than I'm used to, but surprisingly really good. They were really busy (a good sign as a new customer) so they gave us a 2 liter for the wait. My fiance who picked the order up said the place was very clean as well. I will start by saying I visited on a hot summer day, and there was no air conditioning, just a fan blowing at the chairs. If you plan on eating in, do it on a less than hot day. That being said, the owners (I'm sure they were) were super friendly when I walked in the door, and the place was clean. I ordered orange chicken and crab rangoons. It was ready very fast (within 10 minutes). The food was delicious, they gave huge portions, and it was presented nicely. The egg roll was honestly the best I've eaten. The chicken was tender on the inside and crispy on the outside with a perfect amount of sauce. The crab rangoons were sweeter than I've had before but flaky and tasty nonetheless. I have ordered from this place multiple times over about a year with no issue. It was a close, decently priced place for takeout and it never dissapointed. The first and only time I had an issue it was handled extremely poorly. I ordered the curry chicken and the chicken was like rubber bands the veggies had a consistency indicative of three day old leftovers and the sauce (which basically turned the whole dish into a gravy soup) tasted nothing like it should have. It had become a weird gelatinous slime-like viscosity and overall it tasted like an old fridge. Same sad scenario with what my boyfriend ordered- (which was the garlic chicken) slimy, rubbery and soured. I'm not one to return food ever, but this was inedible and we just spent $20 on the meal entirely. Granted it's not a bank breaker, but were on a budget! Upon my phone call inquiring if we could return the bad/spoiled food the woman who answered, whom I've always had pleasant encounters with in the past, would not answer my question and insisted I just order something else-which at this point we weren't about to eat anything else from there at the time. After explaining what was wrong two or three times VERY nicely (I've worked in customer service for over five years and nobody like a rude customer no matter what-I get that). She still wouldn't give me an answer. She put the phone down and I could hear her rudely yelling back to somebody, screaming even, until a gentleman answered. I had to explain the situation to him and he went on to tell me that I just didn't understand what I ordered and it's not something they did wrong. I just didn't know what I was getting and should have ordered something else. Which is most definitely not the case. I had explained I've had it before, I'm familiar with the foods he still wouldn't hear any of it and talked over me the whole time. He told me they don't give refunds and there's nothing they will do then hung up the phone. Obviously we won't be going back, I've never had such poor service or been treated so rudely and I was a loyal return customer who ordered about once a week. But after the state of the food we received I don't think I could ever in good conscience eat anything from there again. read more

I love my first experience here. The takeout is cooked fast and fresh, the service was great (the man was very nice, big smile), and the food was mouth watering. My dishes were almond chicken: crispy, light breading, chicken was moist, and the sauce was nice and sweet. Served with fried rice. The egg drop soup was a classic flavor. This is my first time ordering Chinese in quite a while. I chose the General Tso's chicken. It came with fried rice & an egg roll. I also ordered some crab ragoon & a water. Came out to around 18 bucks for delivery. On the phone they told me it would be about a 40 minute wait, they actually took around 65 minutes. The chicken, rice & egg roll was all still warm (although the egg roll was a bit soggy on the side where it'd been on the rice). They were very large portions, I ate some, saved some for later, ate some, and still had more. The crab ragoon was unfortunately not very warm, but was edible. By far some of the best crab ragoon I've tasted. The down side is that the sweet & sour sauce provided was EXTREMELY watered down, and was no where near enough for all 4 of my crab ragoon AND my egg roll. The egg roll as and stated above was a bit soggy where it'd been placed on the rice, and it tasted similar to potato skin. I only ate 1/4 of it (I didn't have enough watery sweet & sour sauce for it anyways). The chicken was great. Delicious flavor, sweet with just the right amount of kick. The rice wasn't the worst but it definitely wasn't the best, I've had a lot better. Overall, I did enjoy my meal & I may call & order from here again if I'm ever in the mood for Chinese. The Chicken with Broccoli was ok. It was a little heavy on the Broccoli and the taste was not the best but not bad. All and all, a great takeout Chinese place if you are in the area. read more
