I left a negative review because the website says they service my area, but when I reached out he said he specifically doesn't service others in or around his neighborhood even though that is not indicated on his map which is an unfriendly and unneighborly like policy. John took offense to that negative review and showed up at my front door screaming and throwing a tantrum. He proceeded to assault me in my front yard when I told him to get off my property. He pushed me, attempted to take me down by tripping me, threw his hat at my face and slapped me across the face right after. John is an older man and I had the restraint to hold back even though I had the legal right to defend myself, doing nothing more than pushing him off and away from me. When I didn't back down and told him he had 3 seconds to let go of me and get off my property he backed down. As he was driving away he screamed at me "you made a huge mistake, I'm gonna fuck you up!" while I called the cops. His behavior was erratic and unprofessional and I'd definitely advise against his services, obviously.
It's funny that he wants to lie about things when I have it on video from sentry mode on that Tesla (that apparently makes me entitled as if I didn't buy it with my hard earned money). I stepped outside after Jon was banging on my door and shouting because my wife was asleep in the other room. Jon got in my face and asked if I wanted to fight before I pushed him away from me at my front door, telling him to get off my property. He started bragging about being an airborne ranger. During my time in the military I learned that the people that like to shout from the hills that they're an airborne ranger or whatever else are the ones you should worry about the least. Insecurity on full blast.
Again I'll say, he *attempted* to take me down. His claim that I ended up on the ground is another blatant lie. I didn't even come close to falling even though I was wearing house shoes. He was grabbing my shirt and wouldn't let go. I wound up a punch to the side of his face where he was completely open since both hands were grabbing my shirt, but stopped it literally just inches before hitting him because I had reservations about beating up an old guy even if he was instigating the situation. I told him he had 3 seconds to let go of me and get off my property or he would regret it and then he decided to let go and walk away. I started calling the police while he was walking away to ensure this incident was documented in case he decided to come back and try something even more stupid, as he threatened to do. I was satisfied with having everything documented because I don't think he's stupid enough to come back, but the police told me I could go to the magistrates office and have him arrested with my evidence after they watched the video. I wasn't going to do that, but now that I've heard from 3 other people on NextDoor that they had similar experiences I'm considering it.
I can't get the pictures to upload on here but those other users said:
"I had a similar, yet less aggressive, experience with him several years ago"
"He does good work for several of my neighbors, but one of his non-customers on my street called FCPD to deal with him, after he got riled up by being asked to move his truck and trailer, which were blocking the driveway."
And then from a direct message:
"Hey - can you confirm that you are talking about Jon from New Earth Landscaping? We've had some issues with him in the past (nothing physical)."
Some of the other reviews on here corroborate these experiences, if that wasn't already enough.
Just to be clear Jon is an older, heavy set man and I am a healthy 29 year old man in good shape. I'm a veteran who has now moved onto the private sector and I have military and professional training and experience. The discrepancy in strength and experience seemed pretty obvious to me, but if he decides to come back again I won't show the same level of restraint.
I don't think this needs to be said, but any business owner that would show up to someone's house during business hours and in their business truck trying to start a fight because they left a negative review on google is obviously unhinged and doesn't belong in any type of profession where he visits or interacts with clients. In addition to documenting everything with the police I'm also reporting him to the county business licensing office, better business bureau, consumer protection office, and the chamber of commerce. read more
