I am an temporary employee at New Concepts Staffing. I registered easily online and interviewed with Marcie a few months ago. I am "registered" with multiple agencies, but have never had such a good experience - from interview through assessment testing to job placement. My interview with Marcie was like having coffee with a friend. She was friendly, informative about the industry and honest. She told me that although it wouldn't be easy to match an assignment because I was looking for part-time work (I had heard this from the other agencies in a less than optimistic tone), she would try her best. She kept in contact with me and finally called me with an assignment a few weeks ago with a great company! I recommend New Concepts to anyone looking for work and employers looking for the just right employee. Marcie takes the time to get to know her staff and she only places people if it'll be a good fit. read more

Since day One. Marci was absolutely phenomenal. Great staff to work for. I went from temporary to permanent in less than three months for a law firm. Christine in HR. Always on point. Staff makes you feel right at home. Thank You For Everything New Concept Staffing. Thank you for believing in me. read more

New Concepts Staffing is one of the best agencies I've worked with. Marci, and the rest of the staff, are very helpful and accommodating. Always cheerful, yet professional. I have, and would again, recommend this agency to my friends and family. read more

I am finally writing to share the details of my great experience with Marci/New Concept Staffing. When I first arrived in Cali from Florida, living out of my 2 door honda and sleeping on an old lady's couch found via craigslist in Hayward, I had very little idea of what I was going to do. Priority one, live near the Raiders. Priority two, sustain that proximity and improve living conditions via a job! I tried and tried to get my foot in the door all over via online applications courtesy of the Hayward library's free internet, but came up fairly empty on my own. After a few weeks of giving away free samples in supermarkets and serving beer at concerts, I was lucky enough to stumble upon an urgent ad by New Concept Staffing. They needed someone reliable who could type fast/accurately, and they needed them immediately. I was very nervous, having recently been treated like an animal in other staffing offices (like i was ruining the day of those who were employed there by making them do something) and was half expecting the same, until I called and came directly in for an interview. When I arrived, it immediately felt different here than in the other staffing agencies I'd visited. No hostility, no bad attitudes or anything, I was relieved! I soon took a typing test and waited for those results and my interview. My interview was casual but pointed, inquisitive as well as informative, as I was brought up to speed on the prospective employer's recent history leading up to where I come into the picture. I couldn't have imagined being better prepared! I left the interview with a start time the next morning.  Long story short, this opportunity grew from temp hire into a full time salaried position, and was responsible for me being able to get settled into more humane living conditions than what I had agreed to, just to get out here. Thank you Marci and co :) read more

I moved to Livermore almost six months ago with my husband for his work. I spent about three months trying to find jobs on indeed.com, opportunityknocks.org, trivalleyjobs.com, etc. with very few responses. I finally saw an ad on indeed.com for a temp position from New Concept Staffing. Within two days, I had an email and phone call from Marci. I went in for an interview, and was blown away by how engaging, encouraging, and genuine she was and how much she seemed to want me to find not just any job, but a job that I would enjoy going to every day. She immediately had two job ideas for me and set me up for an interview the next day. By the next week, I had a job. Let's face it, job sites feel like you're sending your resume into a black hole. New Concept Staffing has relationships with other companies and organizations, and employees who want the best for you and their clients. They'll help you find what you need, quickly. Highly recommend! read more

I'd really like to thank Marci and her wonderful staff. I started back in August with New Concept Staffing as a temp for a company and got hired permanently hired with a promotion in January. Marci and her staff, especially Christine from the HR department are probably the most helpful people I've ever worked with. If there were any issues or anything I needed help with, they were answered and/or resolved. When I was out sick, Marci reached out to me a couple times to make sure I was okay! Such a very caring and sweet team to work with! I highly recommend New Concept Staffing. They will take care of you! read more

Grrr...Woof! New Concept gets a bark & a tail wag!! My owner says that Marci has always come through for him. Part time, temp....he currently has 2 working with him now! And they're awesome! Forget any of the negative comments...what most don't understand is a simple truth...Woof! If Marci doesn't place you, she doesn't get paid.....If she doesn't find someone for your business, she doesn't get paid.......and like my owner...if he doesn't get paid...I don't get any treats! And EVERYONE likes treats!! She's works for everyone..both sides...so she gets a Woof & a tail wag!! read more

I recently became a permanent employee on a temp-to-hire assignment Marci placed me in back in July. She saw the potential in me to interview for a position I didn't have true experience in. I luckily got placed with this company and have enjoyed the work experience thus far. Keep in mind that if you don't get placed immediately it's may be because your resume doesn't match what her current clients are looking for. I am very appreciative of Marci assisting me in finding this opportunity of work and would highly recommend getting in touch with New Concept staffing if your background matches what they recruit for. read more

My experience with New Concept has been an absolute pleasure the past 7 months. I always refer friends and family on the job market to New Concept. My position started off as temporary position and I am now permanent! I love my job and I am so Thankful that New Concept so quickly placed me in the perfect position. Every step of the way has been wonderful. Marci makes everything so easy and she is so easy to communicate with. If you're looking for a job, definitely go with New Concept! read more

When I was struggling to find a job I found New Concept through Yelp and thought my prayers had finally been answered. I read through the yelp reviews and while most were positive, I ran across a few negative ones about clients who stopped hearing from Marci and thought to myself "that would NEVER happen to me". I considered myself extremely professional with a great work background, and very flexible. I was looking for temp work in order to figure out what environments I preferred to work in. Meeting with Marci was amazing! It was like talking to a friend! She made me so excited because I truly believed she would help me out. We were on the same page: I wanted temp work only, but wasn't specific about the type of company since I wanted a little taste of everything. I left the office feeling so happy, I told all my family and friends my prayers were answered. Then after 4 days of waiting I got an assignment, or should I say an interview for a permanent position. I was confused because this was not at all what we discussed, but I decided to try it out anyway because I trusted her. It was not a good fit at all. In fact during the interview the interviewer told me they hated the people that worked there. I told her what I thought and she was understanding, and assured me she would find me temp work since that's what I wanted. Well it's been 2 months now and I've still heard nothing. I'm happy I didn't give up on searching for jobs on my own instead of waiting to hear from her. I ended up finding a job I love, so in a way it's good that working with New Concept didn't work out. I never have written a yelp review, but the lack of communication I received in such a vulnerable and hard time in my life made me worried for other people who might go through the same thing. Moral of the story: don't trust a staffing agency to be the magic solution. Continue your job hunt on the side and don't leave it all in one persons hands. read more

I had a very short encounter with Marci but regardless... She is enthusiastic and passionate about her work. I only had the privilege of working with her for a few days because shortly after our in person interview, I got a call back from an employer that I interviewed with prior to. However, she helped me tweak my resume in that short time frame and boy did my resume look amazing afterwards. Same content just rearranged things per her instruction. Thank you Marci! You're amazing! read more

HORRIBLE! This place is a JOKE! Got contacted. Met up with Marci than was told to get my updated Resume to her Asap which I did. Got the testing via email and worked on it the whole day; Included; Word, Excel and Typing for supposably (2) Senior Executive Assistant positions in Concord. Come to find out I wasted my whole week waiting for absolutely NOTHING! WASTED MY TIME! Supposably the 1st position they wanted to hire someone within and then the 2nd position she never even sent my stuff over. So I lost any opportunity to go do an interview. Will NOT work with this company again EVER! Do not go to this place, waste of time. read more

An absolute waste of time. I went in for for an in-person meeting with Marci and was truly under the impression that she wanted to help me find my next career. She seemed very kind and understanding. It has been about 2 months and I still haven't heard back from her. The very last time that I spoke with her, it was me who reached out to see if there were yet any available opportunities that I would be a good fit for. She mentioned that due to the holidays, there aren't any jobs at the moment. I'm sure she's a wonderful individual, but for some reason she did not want to help me. I wish she would have just told me so that I did not just sit around waiting for her. Good luck everyone! read more

Marci is the absolute BEST! I had been trying to find a job on my own and I was feeling incredibly demoralized as I wasn't hearing back from anyone. A friend recommended I give Marci a try and she called me the same day I signed up on her website. She found that perfect fit and after being a contractor for a few months I'm now a permanent employee at a great company in SF. Thank you New Concept! read more

I would give 10 stars if I could! After having signed with two other temp agencies that had high Yelp ratings, I signed with New Concept as well. Neither of the other two ever called me for anything. Marci had me do a short temp job within a week or so and following a good report from that company I haven't had the time to bother with the other agencies. Marci and Jodi are both very professional and curious in every way. Marci has been very proactive about looking for both temp work and a permanent job for me. Thanks to New Concept I now have a wonderful permanent job. I cannot thank them enough! read more

I'm working with Marci Shackleton at New Concept and I'm very impressed with her and the company. Both are dedicated, responsive, professional, and clearly committed to finding the right fit for all parties. Further, I felt so comfortable with Marci - she's a straight shooter, she's warm and personable, and she was able to quickly drill down my goals and experience to put me on the right path to career success. I feel optimistic knowing I'm in good hands. read more

This is a highly professional employment agency not to mention a Woman Owned Business (WBE) by the Women and Minority Business Clearing House and DBE Certified. read more

I worked with Marci on various assignments. My last experience was very negative, she sent me to a low paying job, where I was not taking my breaks or full lunch hour. I asked her if I could come earlier and leave earlier. She told me not to return to work. She stated that I quit. Very unprofessional!!! Another negative thing about this company is that you have print time card, have your supervisor sign than fax it to agency. Such s hassle, when you could just enter in computer...I would never work for this small staffing agency. read more

I'm surprised at some of these negative comments. My encounters with Marci and staff have been positive experiences. Her business is finding the right match between client company and potential employees, period. Her company's reputation depends on submitting candidates that are fully qualified. I appreciate her candor and prefer that over someone telling me something just to keep me hanging on. read more

Met with Marci in mid September of 2016. She was amazing to speak with, very personable, and seemed dedicated so I was sure I was in good hands. I called her about 3 times in the span of one month and she continued to reassure me she was looking, and on the last call, she promised to call me by the end of the week with a potential temp job. It is now mid March 2017, and although I tried contacting her about 3 emails later, I decided to continue my job hunts on my own. She seems amazing, but maybe I had the wrong degree? Maybe speaking 2 languages wasn't enough? Maybe my law firm experience was mediocre? More power to the people she does help tho, Maybe it just wasn't meant to be for me. read more

I agree with the reviewer above. New Concept Staffing is definitiely more client based. When I first started working with Marci, she seemed like a sweetheart and would do what it takes to find you a job. Recently she had me interview for a great job with PGE, I had to meet with another company that works with PGE first. That went great and immediately got a 2nd interview with PGE, which I felt went very well also. Marci knew I was anxious to hear if I got the job and instead I got the total runaround and was flat out lied to. On Friday, she told me it was between me and another candidate and that she would know on Monday and that person would start on Wednesday. So, when Monday rolled around, I was anxiously waiting to hear if I got the job. It was 3pm and still I didn't hear, I sent a email and Marci replied "We should hear something next week". Of course, I was confused beccause she told me she would hear today. Then she says, that she told me on friday that they did go with the other candidate, which is a total lie. She basically had me thinking I was up for the job, and had me hanging on all weekend. read more

Marci was great! She helped me polish my skills and connected me with different employers. I would have never gotten some of the interviews she was able to set up for me. Would definitely recommend! read more

Marci and her staff are wonderful to work with. They listen to your needs and deliver the perfect candidates for your temporary staffing needs. Not only does Marci run a fantastic business, she and her cohorts are warm, friendly, and obviously enjoy helping others. In this day and age, it's so refreshing to come across a business that's extremely customer service oriented. I would recommend New Concept Staffing to any business, any size, anywhere! read more

I have had the pleasure of working with Marci and her team for 15+ years. She is considerate, professional and quick to respond to my needs. Over the years, I've ended up hiring most of the temps she brought my way. She has a keen sense of my needs and matching our company with great candidates. read more

Having used Marci and New Concept on both sides of the employment equation, I have to say that they are strictly client driven. I have unfortunately sent job seekers to New Concept who have reported back to me that unless they called New Concept, they never heard anything from Marci or her staff. And often when they have called, they don't get responses for days. As a paying client, I have requested specific candidates that I know are available because I both know their work, and I also felt I owed them something as I sent them to Marci in the first place. The job market is difficult and competitive, and it is important for staffing agencies to keep their candidates informed of just what openings they have -- or don't have, as the case may be, so their candidates can be an active part of the process. If you are a job seeker, I would strongly suggest that you sign up with more than one agency as the world of staffing is also very competitive and New Concept is not demonstrating that they have your interests at heart. read more

New Concept staffing is flawless! I would also give it 10 stars if I could. Marci, Darney, and Jodi are amazing. It is impossible to find such nice, encouraging people out there that are willing to work with you. Not only are they about their clients, but they are also all about their candidates. A little background on myself: I was fresh out of college, but had a background in customer service. After graduation I had a hard time finding a job, so I decided to try temp work. I applied and was hired at a different staffing agency. Months went by with nothing. I contacted the agency every week for an assignment, but still nothing.. I decided to try New Concept and I am glad I did. I completed the interview and had an assignment on the spot for THE NEXT DAY! Marci, Jodi, and Darney are easy to talk to, friendly, easy to get a hold of, down to earth, and easy to work with. I am now contracted at a corporate Fortune 500 company (right out of college). I could not be happier with the opportunity New Concept has given me, and I could have never made it to where I am now on my own. Nothing compares. Everyone at New Concept is professional and genuinely respectful individuals. If there is ever a question I had about an assignment New Concept is always able to help in a swift and hassle free manner. They truly work with you, and are very straightforward. An outstanding staffing agency. read more

I first registered with New Concept in 2001 for temporary work and over the years I've found two permanent positions through them as well. Both placements were absolutely perfect fits and wish I could still be working with either company (I was laid off by the first one due to the economy crash and the second company closed it's doors after 25 years). I've registered with many other agencies, and my experiences have been much more positive with New Concept. Marci and her staff are incredibly welcoming and make you feel like you truly have someone on your team working hard to find you an opportunity. Marci is very proactive and there is a real 'make it happen' energy at New Concept. She is good at what she does - she gets to know you, the clients, and works hard to make those perfect placements. She doesn't want to waste anyone's time and works very fast-paced and efficiently and made all our interactions very pleasurable. If you are serious about finding somewhere you are happy to work, you can count on New Concept to get you there. read more
