Sesame Chicken and Lo Mein
camryn p.

We went to order our food and we were greeted by a woman shooting daggers at us, as if we were unwelcome in her establishment. We went to place our order and asked a question which was answered with silence and a hand pointing to the menu. Once we received our order and sat at home, we noticed the strange coloring of the sesame chicken, similar to orange chicken but somehow taki/hot Cheeto colored? I have never seen a food this color come out of a dining establishment, only manufactured garbage.

Great place to get your Chinese Take-Out Fix! Service is speedy and all of the traditional favorites are on the menu! Prices are reasonable, too. I decided to visit this place on whim and ordered Shrimp with Mixed Vegetables and a Summer Roll. There were plenty of shrimp in the dish and the vegetables were very fresh! I did think the sauce was a little on the thick side, as if there was too much cornstarch in the sauce. Nevertheless, the dish was enjoyable and just the right amount for lunch. There are a few tables if you'd like to dine inside. The summer roll was supposed to have shrimp and pork, but I only saw maybe two pop-corn sized shrimp and no pork. It was hot and freshly fried though.

this is usually my go to spot for the best chinese food in PO. lately the past few times i've came they've been randomly closed & it's frustrating. hours definitely need to be updated online & on the front of the building.

Food is always ready on time. You always get what you order, very consistent. Consistency is hard to find, you get it here.

After freshening up at the hotel, I was starving. Since I wasn't familiar to the Ormond Beach area,…read moreI did a Yelp search for restaurants near me. I browsed through the list and decided to try China House. It was a little over a seven mile drive to the Chinese restaurant located within a plaza in Holly Hill. Upon entering, I greeted a female employee behind the counter and placed an order for a pint of house special lo mein and an egg roll. The food was prepared really quickly and it was well-cooked. The egg roll was fried nicely and filled with tender vegetables. I added some duck sauce for flavor. The lo mein was a mixture of tender pieces of chicken roast pork, and shrimp, tossed with soft noodles and crunchy vegetables. It may look like a small amount of food, but it was filling. I have leftovers for the next day.

I've been searching for a good Chinese takeout spot around the Daytona Beach / Ormond Beach area…read morefor a while now, and honestly it has been almost impossible to find somewhere that actually tastes good--until I found China House in Holly Hill. Their food is absolutely delicious. My personal favorite is the spare rib with plain lo mein--it's seriously top-notch. The flavor, the texture, everything about it is just right. Their orange chicken is also really good and definitely worth trying. One thing I noticed right away is the quality of the food. At some Chinese takeout places, you can unfortunately taste when something just isn't fresh or when a kitchen might not be as clean as it should be. Here, everything tastes fresh, clean, and well prepared, which makes a huge difference. I've probably already been three or four times in the last month, so it's safe to say this has become my go-to spot when I'm craving Chinese takeout. They've definitely earned a repeat customer. They also offer lunch specials that include a drink, which is a great deal, so I recommend checking out their website/menu. The prices might be a little higher than some other takeout spots, but the quality makes it totally worth it. The only thing I wish is that I got fortune cookies more often--so next time I might have to remember to ask! If you're in the Holly Hill, Daytona Beach, or Ormond Beach area and craving good Chinese takeout, I highly recommend giving China House a try. You won't be disappointed.

Who knew I'd find comforting Vietnamese food across from the Speedway!…read more I had just flown into Daytona Beach and, after settling into my hotel room, I came to Mama's Kitchen for dinner. Right away, we were greeted by a young lady and gentleman, and were directed to sit at one of the tables. The restaurant was clean and spacious. They had a cute little Vietnamese cart in the middle of the restaurant to bring a bit of Vietnam into its design. They also had a wall with a beautiful drawing. We ordered a few things from their menu, starting off with egg rolls and Bahn Mi with sweet potato fries. Whatever dip it came with was delicious - and that's coming from someone who doesn't like the orange sweet potatoes! We also ordered entrees such as their Bo Kho and Bo Ne. Both stews were delicious. For drinks, we had a Tamarind drink and a Kumquat drink - both of which were refreshing. Overall, I really liked the food here. And the decor was simple and the service was attentive. The gentleman who brought our food out was also very careful with making sure there were no peanuts in any of our dishes. I'd love to come back here again on my next visit and try a new dish!

Ate at this restaurant during September 2026 on a weekend during the dinner hour. The business was…read morenot very busy at the time. My wife ordered the "Pho Mama" and I ordered the "Bo Ne". We did not order any beverages other than water. The service was very slow and I almost got up to remind our server that we had ordered food and were still waiting. I sampled my wife's pho and found it had a good flavor. The tendon and tripe were over cooked and a bit mushy. The other meats were cooked ok. The plate of condiments (bean sprouts, basil and peppers) were very skippy. At $18, I felt the Pho needed to be better. At $20, the Bo Ne lacked in a few areas and following this dining experience I probably wouldn't order it again. First off, I ordered this dish because it looked good and from the picture. On the menu it says "Vietnamese beef tenderloin" on the menu. The dish I was served looked much different than what I saw on the menu. The pickled carrots and radish must of had the day off on this night. Back to the tenderloin. In my years as a chef, I will tell you that there is only one piece of meat that is more tender than any other cut of meat from the cow and that is the tenderloin. What was served me was closer related to a tough cut or sirloin that tightened up so much when cooked, that every piece of meat I had to chew and chew to get past the grizzle. Once chewed, I needed to remove the meat from my mouth. See picture of the bread basket for the remnants of their so called beef tenderloin. The sauce that the meat was swimming in had a good taste. The liver pate was bland and was melting away into the sauce of the dish. One positive note about the experience is that the bread was superb! We may go back again sometime in the future but not any time soon.
