I have frequented this restaurant for years. Was always my favorite for Chinese food. The go orders were always plenty and delivered. Stopped in the other day to pick up take out. Horrible. Green Pepper steak was more like green pepper shoe leather. I picked out the meat it was too tough to chew. The wonton soup looked like egg drop with wonton noodle. One to be exact. I will not be back. Waste of money. read more

I ordered food for delivery, I didn't have enough cash, so I paid with by debit card...the driver comes, gives me my food I give him a cash tip & he sits parked in front of my car for about 2 mins..then he leaves. My total was $17.58 I left a 0.00 tip on the receipt I signed because I gave cash. I had 2 charges one that was pending for $17.58 and one for $22.58 that cleared. The one that was pending fell off..When the charge cleared my account it was charged $5.00 more than I signed for. ($22.58) When I noticed, it was closed, so I go the next day and speak with the owner Mr.Lee, he assured me he only received the amount the card was ran for and he couldn't tell me why my card was charged more than I authorized. He assured me he was going to the bank in the morning and he would figure it out. He texts my phone the next day and tells me to check with my bank because his credit card processor said he only received the amount on the receipt ($17.58). So I contacted my bank & my bank said NEW CHINA submitted the $22.58 & not $17.58, so I was over charged. I told him as we were texting I was going to make a police report because I did not authorize that & that's theft. He told me I need to stop bouncing checks and maybe the right amount would clear and they wouldn't put pending charges on my account...I don't even own a check book. Lol but he made every excuse on why he couldn't figure out why I was charged $5.00 more. Granted it's only $5 but I shouldn't have been charged more than what I authorized to come out my account. I will never be back here, I've been a customer for YEARSSSS since I was a young girl, & I never had an issue (that I've noticed), Mr Lee was very disrespectful..DO NOT SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY HERE!!! You will definitely regret it. If it was done to me, I know it was done to others..Mr Lee admitted that in a text that was sent to me "it happens a lot" then tried to blame it on the holidays, I placed this order NOVEMBER 15, it cleared my account NOVEMBER 16..IT HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE HOLIDAYS read more

I'm so upset with this place I gave them three chances to impress me One with the egg drop soup absolutely flavorless Two with beef plate And this last time I ordered beef lomein and chicken on the stick as a side. Nope I get some beef curry looking thing and nasty chicken on the stick. Forgive me but never ever ever will I order here again read more

I heard there was new owners so I decided to give lunch a try. It was one of the worst restaurant expierences I've had in a while. A large gruff man in open toe shoes paced the entrance area overwhelmed with calls. His customer service skills were lacking on the phone to be heard throughout the building. Our waitress who never introduced herself walked up for the first time and asked If we were ready to order but we hadn't even put our drinks in yet. Once we did receive drinks we had to request straws. 2 lunches were ordered but only one person at the table was offered soup which is completementary to both meals After one soup came out I asked why I didn't get a soup and if my meal also came with one to which the waitress replied "you should have told me". One meal came out while the other took 10 min longer. The waitress said she asked the kitchen to make it a few times but she doesn't know and it's coming. Other tables around us got food first even after being seated after. Overall food was OK. But I will never suggest new china and I will never eat there again. Staff has lack of basic customer service and communication skills 0/10 do not recommend Also there were signs in the bathroom to please not flush toilet paper. read more

I have never had any problems with this restaurant. Every time my family and I have eaten there or grabbed takeout we have never had any roaches in our food or any other problems with the food and the staff has always been pleasant. They also have the best Pineapple Delights in town (in my honest opinion). read more

Terrible food it was delivered cold and I was not impressed with the quality . Don't waste your money

I literally downloaded Yelp just to put this review seeing how they highlighted a few bad reviews. I'am a simple man and order regularly a large shrimp fried rice. Sometimes I'll add egg roles for me since my little one only eats the shrimp and veggies from the rice. They have always been very kind and generous towards me and my daughters despite how often they are busy. I've never had any complaints with my meals and the workers at the registers always give my daughter 3-4 lollipops. It's always a good experience and my daughter was even shown the fish tank in the corner with the Goldfish just to make our wait more pleasant. read more

We ordered delivery yesterday and after eating all I could, I noticed a cooked roach in my dinner! I was completely disgusted! I called and spoke to someone who asked me to bring the plate back in. When I got there, she took the bagged plate to the back and quickly returned wanting to refund the plate lunch. The supposed manager came up and I told her I wanted the entire check refunded. He quickly agreed but never once did I get an apology or anything. The manager didn't seem concerned. I guess they did the right thing by refunding my money, but they can bet that they'll never see our faces again there! read more

While the previous review may be correct, the best Chinese in houma would be if your non-asian grandmother - who does not actually eat Chinese food cooks for you. The servers are friendly the food is not Chinese. read more

Or company order New China for lunch. Received sweet and sour pork and what I guess is a fried bee. Called the company. They sent a driver to pick up this plate and brought me a new one, but couldn't stomach to eat it. Will NOT be back! read more

New China - Sweet and sour pork, and what I can guess is a fried bee. Brought me another plate but couldn't stomach to eat it. Never again! - Chinese Near Me - Houma, Louisiana

This place is infested with roaches and more often than not, they end up cooked in your food! I've stopped eating here completely.

I called for hours trying to order a lunch special. No one ever picked up the phone. Whenever I did talk to someone I placed the hours, after 60 times of calling. I call back to change one plate because I chose the wrong meat and the owner told me don't even come to pick it up. He was frustrated because he had a line of people. He thought he hung up the phone but he didn't and i heard him talking about me to the customers. I'm a customer just like every one else and he showed horrible customer service. I still chose to eat from here after hearing stories about maggots and roaches in the food and place but I won't ever go back. The owner is RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! If you're short handed HIRE SOME MORE PEOPLE INSTEAD OF TRYING TO BE CHEAP AND NOT HIRING TO PAY SOMEONE!!!! Stop taking your frustration out on loyal customers. I wish I can put ZERO stars! read more

I love, love, love this restaurant. New China is without a doubt my favorite Chinese restaurant. The mandarin chicken, chicken fried rice, and omg the egg drop soup is hands down the best!! I eat here on a weekly basis and more often if I get the chance! I have never had any issues with the food or service at this restaurant. I work in the travel industry and I understand how important reviews are. I really don't see why this restaurant would have bad reviews but you can't please everyone! Keep up the great work New China!! read more

Came in for lunch. Pretty good size selection and prices were really good. i ordered mandarin duck which was terrible. Mostly cornbread, could not tell what you were eating. It came with soup which had pork, so i ordered chicken and rice soup which was just chicken and rice with water. Overall it was ok, i would order the chicken if i go again. My friend ordered that and it was really delicious. read more

I like new China especially since they are so close to me. Good service and they are not just trying to sell food.

Best Chinese restaurant in Houma. Imperial chicken extra spicy is our choice , wonton soup is great! Nice portion sizes, feeding 4 people, get the family meal for 3. Place is way outdated and needs renovations, waitresses always are nice when we visit. Only Chinese in Houma that never disappoints. read more

Love the hot and sour soup!!! Very large portion sizes. Enough for 2 people to share. read more

Dirty dirty!!! We went there for the first time few days ago and the food was"ok" but the place is dirty the menus, tables and bathroom. Plus the menus only have numbers and the name of the food no description of what you supposed be eating no pictures on how it looks. We ask the sever for more info about the food but she hardly speak English so was no help . A friend of mine actually killed a roach on the table. Not going back!!! read more
