My friend and I got takeout from here. I just discovered this place today when I went to the Crozet Hardware Store. It's right next to Fardowners. We got the spring rolls (comes with 2), boneless spare ribs, beef lo mein, and chicken fried rice (large portion for all). For the price, you get a lot of food. This is an upgrade from the last review I gave of them I think I gave them a one everything was terrible this time had sweet and sour pork it was very good we got four vegetable spring rolls they were tasty but you really didn't know there was any vegetables in it if you bit the end it looked like a holler tube almost what kept me from giving it four stars was a wonton soup you would think that would be pretty hard to screw up the wontons were tough thick and very hard to chew definitely not fresh read more

I am someone who loves to support local and small businesses, but I have to be honest here. We ordered via the app (which doesn't give any descriptions of the food) on a Saturday at 5:30pm (so I am aware this is a busy time). Our food just was bland and ok. The rolls had a lot of shell and not much middle part. The hot and spicy beef was neither hot nor spicy and had a funky taste and smell (reminded me of BO). The fried rice was boring and not very fried like. Positive: we did "like" the orange chicken flavor and they gave us an enormous size of red sauce for something (just not sure what for?!). Unfortunately, we will not be ordering from here again unless things drastically change. read more

Been living in crozet for 6 months now and have gotten take out from New China over 10 times now and we love it. Food is always delicious and we get plenty of food for two people for under $25. Highly recommend trying it out. read more

My wife and I have been in the Crozet area for just over a year - we had a great Chinese food place in Northern Virginia and were hoping to find one in our new location -- we did! Ordered from New China at least 20 times over the past few years. Food is consistently made fresh and we've enjoyed each of the 10 or 12 entrees we've ordered. Good quality of food at affordable prices. The two owners are always present (I've never seen another employee) and are consistently working hard to get orders prepared quickly. New China offers great take-out Chinese food at reasonable prices. There isn't much selection for Chinese food in or around Crozet, but this place is all you need. Their food portions are also really good, considering the price they charge. My wife loves the sweet and sour chicken and I always go for the beef with broccoli. Definitely recommend! read more

We eat here regularly. The food is fresh, made to order and reasonably priced. It's your typical neighborhood Chinese food. Not too fancy but consistent. My family lives in Crozet, so it represents a twice a month meal for us when we don't have time to cook. The Beef/Broccoli is good. My wife orders that for the kids, but I find it over cooked at times. The Kung Pao Chicken is very good. The Sweet & Sour Chicken is well cooked, but I would like it more if they added pickles and carrots as it is traditionally made. Egg rolls are not my favorite and are 90% cabbage; I usually pass. I would recommend the Hot/sour soup. It is family owned and operated. The are all business, so don't expect a deep conversation. On the other hand, they are fast and efficient... No nonsense. If your order is large they often throw in Crab Rangoon. Still, I recommend. read more

My fiancee and I have gotten take out from here. We really like it, the veggies all seem fresh, and the portions are large. Most people will have trouble finishing a full size meal in one sitting, even without any appetizers. Most quart size regular menu items are $8-10, lunch specials $5.25. Service was fast. Ordered three meals plus some apps. Two of the three tasted old, almost musty. The chicken and pork were rubbery and suspect. All of it seemed really low quality, even for cheap, Americanized Chinese food. Worst egg roll I've had in a while. Spring rolls also tasted strange. $7 for a small won ton soup and a pint of beef with Chinese vegetables. Food was good, not too oily, and the veggies seemed pretty crisp. The soup was fine as well. Only criticisms would be that 1) this place is almost take-out only (one table in a very small space) and 2) they don't give you a whole pint of rice with your order. Great chineese food. Can't get enough of it when we order. Fast and a delight to the taste buds. You can call in orders for even faster pickup but walks ins still only takes 10ish minutes. Very affordable and sizes can easily last two meals. read more

This is your typical Chinese takeout. The service is fast, and they are known to add in wontons, extra fortune cookies, or rangoons to the bag - awesome. If you walk in and order you won't have to wait very long, but we usually call about 20 minutes ahead of time and it's all ready to go by the time we walk in. When New China first opened a few years ago, the veggies were so fresh they were almost crunchy. They've gradually gone downhill, but tonight, my food was practically inedible. I got the Four Seasons, which has chicken, pork, beef and shrimp, along with mixed vegetables. It was swimming in brown sauce, and there was more beef than any other meat (I had to dig deep to find a shrimp). The beef was rubbery and disgusting. The shrimp and chicken weren't much better. The spring roll appetizer was greasy and I just couldn't eat it. My son loved his shrimp mei fun and the General Tso's was well-liked too, but there have just been too many times when the food was lackluster that this will be the last time we order. If my husband hadn't already been half-way home from town, we would have gotten food from town. Next time, we'll plan ahead. Yuck, just....yuck! read more

I think your steamed pork dumplings are the best! Even better than those I had in Northern VA and San Francisco. Top notch over the restaurants which offer dumplings in Charlottesville as well. Price is excellent for the 8 pieces on a serving! read more

To begin my review I would like to reference a Chinese proverb, most likely from the Zhou Dynasty, "A diamond with a flaw is worth more than a pebble without imperfections." This proverb directly corresponds to the service and meals served at the "diamond," New China. While the food does have some flaws such as it sometimes being over/under cooked, it is the best Chinese food in the quaint town of Crozet. In fact it's the only Chinese food in Crozet, run by perhaps the only Chinese people in Crozet. However, this does not discourage them from crafting and serving meals fit for an emperor at a low price. The owners/ employees are some of the most hard-working and fun-loving people in the world. Just the other day my friend asked for a bit more soy-sauce and the woman taking our orders gave us enough soy sauce to drown Kim-Jong Un. The pricing is fairer then the elven maiden Galadriel and the meals are as hearty as prepared for the Dwarven King Thorin. A take-out box of rice is included with purchases of meals, such as Sweet and Sour Chicken, but I often find the rice too white and sticky, though I eat the entire receptacle full without hesitation. The environment of the restaurant is, to say the least, is welcoming, allmost the exact opposite of the Black Gates of Mordor. The meat served at this establishment is of unprecedented and unparalleled quality, it never fails to satisy, just like a party thrown by Bilbo.
