Wish the little town of Scottsville had delicious food to recommend. I asked to eat IN... food still served in a take out with one packet of soy! Wanted a dine in experience! We were in Scottsville to pick up a few things from a local farm and decided to get something to eat. Everything was closed except Beijing Kitchen and an Italian restaurant. We chose Beijing because my husband doesn't really care for Italian. I was a little nervous as my dad was also with us and he's SUPER picky about his food, especially Chinese. Anyway, the restaurant was clean and smelled so good. We ordered fried rice, lo mein, orange chicken, beef and broccoli and sweet and sour shrimp. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. The proteins were all tender, not chewy or touch, and the veggies were still slightly crisp. The sauces were amazing: not heavy and sugary but light and so flavorful. We all loved it and my dad even said he would drive back to Scottsville (from Madison Heights) just to eat there again! read more

Got carry out last night from Beijing Kitchen. Scottsville is much closer and more convenient to our house than driving into Cville, so we figured we should try the local Chinese place at some point! The price point is average for Chinese carry-out. The food was ready when they said it would be, all hot and smelling good. The guy who served us was friendly enough. We got egg rolls, scallion pancakes, mu shu pork, and the "veggie delight" with white rice. As always the portions were plentiful and meant we had leftovers of everything. The mu shu pork itself was really tasty, and probably my favorite thing, but the pancakes were a bit weird compared to the usual, paper thin wraps you get. It looked a bit more like a thin store-bought tortilla, but it got the job done. The vegetables were standard chinese vegetables, lightly coated in a brown sauce. I just wanted some steamed veggies to supplement all the feasting I had done the two days prior. Yummy, al dente, and satisfied my need. The egg rolls were mediocre, but a mediocre egg roll is still pretty finger-licking good. And they weren't too greasy, so there's a win. The scallion pancakes were delicious, but I think they might have come in contact with nuts because my husband with a nut allergy had a slight reaction when he tasted one, so he just left the rest for me. I wouldn't think scallion pancakes would be the menu item to worry about in that regard, but really we should have told them ahead of time to stop that from happening--sometimes we get careless and forget to mention. The coolest thing about Beijing Kitchen is that they make all their own homemade sauces: sweet chili, sweet and sour, duck sauce, mushu sauce. Which maybe I'm a newb, but I've never seen that before with chinese carry-out, so it was pretty cool to try that rather than the typical plastic sauce packages. Also, a great thing if you are trying to reduce your waste, you can bring your own tub for sauce, or even the provided tubs are much less plastic than getting a handful of individually-wrapped sauce packets. We'll definitely get carry-out again. And the dining room is pleasant and clean, nothing exciting. Also they serve soft-serve ice cream if you find yourself in Scottsville looking for a cheap, delicious cone of soft-serve! That's the only reason we had visited BK before, but now we know their food is legit, so we'll be back for all the reasons above. read more

Food is great/call in and order is always ready/food never changes so you no that it will be the same as last time

So we dropped in last week. If driving a half hour to get there cuz I was craving Chinese, can he considered "dropping in." It's not like the spots in California, but it's hometown and simple. Lots of tables. Drink station and a cool little sauce fridge. You order at the counter and everything is in to go containers, even if you order in. Not very environmentally friendly. It's seems most of their business is to go. They had about 5 while we waited. They did have plates and real silverware that is self serve by the sauce bar. Every sauce you can imagine with containers. We got the crab Rangoon!! Super delicious! I eat it with sweet n sour and hot mustard. Then we got the egg drop soup. It was a lot thinner than I like so I won't get that again. The egg foo young was fluffy and full of vegetables with a good brown gravy. A total winner! Plus we got Lo mein with white rice. It had the great smoked oil toast. We were super happy. It fed 3 of us. It was around $28. Plus they have great combo meals for around $7 bucks for lunch and dinner which we will try next time. I was really excited we were getting a chinese restaurant. As construction neared completion, i was brimming with anticipation. It was underwhelming and staff was rude in the sort of way you are accustomed to in some hole in the wall chinese spots. Then they added hibachi... and suddenly we had a decent Japanese option. Was a reasonable cost for hibachi you dont see getting made. Then COVID ruinrd everything. They closed the dining section, built a fortress of clear plastic and seemingly doubled their prices. They got rid of their lunch specials... and there is only so much I am willing to pay for mediocre lo mein. read more

Really good! Veggies were fresh, sauces excellent. We had the kung pao tofu and mixed vegetables and veg fried rice. All were great. They were great about making sure everything was made vegan, too. Above-average Chinese food with efficient and friendly service. We had been meaning to try this place, and then were prompted to action when a menu was dropped in our mailbox. We had the cream cheese/crab wantons, sesame chicken and kung pao chicken, one with fried rice and one with white rice. All of it was delicious and had more quality ingredients and depth of flavor than your everyday westernized Chinese take-out. I got the impression that they cared about the food and it was really tasty. I was very happy that the fried rice was obviously fresh and made with egg. It wasn't the greasy, shiny yellow fried rice that some places have. The sesame chicken was well balanced and not the bland sicky-sweet kind that is sometimes served. The portions are generous and the prices are completely reasonable. We're glad they're in Scottsville and we'll be back! read more
