The food is below average and pricey for the quality. Table was cleaned off quickly. It was rather dark and dreary inside.

Had eaten here numerous years ago and felt the food was good but had concerns about cleanliness dropping off. Decided to try it again as we were in the area and were craving Chinese. It was clear when we walked in that it was clean and efficient, with food on the buffet being refreshed regularly. Now have styrofoam plates and bowls and plastic silverware, but the food was very good. I really enjoyed the peanut butter chicken and the fried shrimp and fish. They have a huge variety of foods to sample. Price includes all you can eat entrees, soft drinks and many desserts; baked goods and soft serve. Overall, we were very pleased and would come back again. Not gourmet dining, but if you're cravings a variety of good Chinese food fast and hot; give it a try. Very economical. read more

I came into the New China Buffet with low expectations. I've never been to a good Chinese buffet, but this one was downright miserable. As I was getting my first plate, I saw a fly walking on the shrimp. This had me a little bit worried, but I was willing to look past it. This was until my first bite contained a fly leg. I spat it out, so the only food I got on my trip to the New China Buffet was the 13 fortune cookies I took. $18 for 13 fortune cookies was my experience. The fortunes weren't even accurate. I was really surprised by this Chinese buffet because I was not expecting much. What I most appreciated, and thus 5 stars, was the cleanliness of the buffet. There was an employee constantly walking the buffet line, attending to every item, making sure it was hot and wiped down. You do eat on paper plates, but at least you know they're clean. The food is average (3.5) with all of your deep-fried favorites, Americanized Chinese dishes, and a few new things to try, which my kids loved. I think it's a great value, and that's why I saw lots of folks coming there for their lunch break. I've been going back regularly as a treat for the family. read more

Basic Chinese American buffet. Be for covid they had more selections now one buffet has been closed ever since. Not sure why. I go here alot the choices are consistent not the best I have had but not that bad all way consistently the same. I wish they would open the other buffet like and change up the variety of choices not the same thing every day every week and year. The fountain drinks are definitely adj to be light on the syrup and heave on the carbonated water. They have gone all disposable dinnerware ever since covid. I know the cost of hiring someone to wash dishes and the soap and maintaining the equipment also the cost of water and electricity for the hot water is definitely a cost. I really don't care if i eat off a disposable plate at least I know they are clean. The carpet needs a really good cleaning. And stuff is in need of updating. I say this only because the price they are charging is what I would expect for a well kept place but this place is costly and it is very run down. But they are always busy and seem to be doing good so I guess why fix it if it is working? Lol oh well. I will still eat here out of convenience. But not if I want a nice dinning experience. Asian buffets sprout out all over the place like bean sprouts. We went on a Friday afternoon and it was busy which is a positive since the hot dishes ate replenished often. Pretty standard fair with about 3-4 dishes each for pork, chicken, beef, and seafood. They also have cold unpeeled cocktail shrimp. Most of the dishes were ok, with standouts being fried chicken wings, fried potstickers, seaweed salad, and pork shu mai (dumpling). Plenty of self-service drinks available from tea to coffee, to cappuccino, to soda, to lemonade, to horchata. Also had assorted desserts including soft-serve ice cream. Prices were reasonable, and food was hot and plentiful; therefore 4 stars. read more

Came here on Friday. Stop...dinner time. Please hammer don't hurt em. I want great food but settled for good. ;( The good- Little over $10. For dinner and drink included. Food quality was about average Chinese buffet for variety. They even had the famous Chinese "pizza" cheese or pepperoni. The kitchen did a great job as far as keeping a large supply of food. Staff was friendly and cleared our table well. They have plenty of baby high chairs. Something about eating wasabi gives me some wild crazy dreams, warning pre made sushi rolls. The Bad The sushi was very cold and bla. Lack of flavor. Plenty of people were coming in and leaving. No crab? No crappy crab legs no scallops no plain mussels, no calamari. I don't normally leave bad reviews nevertheless reviews at all but i found it was necessary to warn others about this horrid place. I just want to start of by saying that the entrance is the door on the very right of the front of the building if anyone wants to walk inside the dump. Had a hard time finding the door to enter in, which I believe was a sign from the gods to not even enter. Upon entering the man at the counter was not very friendly which is not a good start. After paying, we found a partially wiped table. Walked up to the buffet and realized that there was not a good variety of food whatsoever. The food itself was something disturbing. I started off with the crab rangoon and it wasn't even fully cooked. I am a big fan of shrimp so was very excited to see they had a good variety of shrimp. Upon trying every shrimp offered upon the buffet, none of them were remotely good. I was absolutely repulsed to bite into a shrimp and it was the consistency of mashed potatoes. Another shrimp was not peel or deveined. Next was the lo mein which was falling apart as i picked it up with the fork. I got the crawfish and it was so over cooked and couldn't get the tail out. Overall all the food on the buffet was a bust. Next went to the dessert bar and found a hair in the cake and that's when i left. I wouldn't recommend this place even if you are starving. My husband became very ill and was projectile vomiting after eating at this disgusting establishment. I used to go there with family when I lived near Waukesha. I've never seen a fresher asian buffet! They rotate the food out regularly when it starts to age. I just went back after maybe 5 - 10 years and they were STILL serving fresh food. It's a buffet. So that means families, plates stacked high with food and the occasional mess. That said, I marvel at the quantity and quality of the food. Drinks, desert and ice cream included in the price. I can't think of a better value. They do a great job of keeping the food coming and cleaning up the dishes. Got someone along not into oriental food? They have pizza, I think it's Tombstone,French fries and a very good egg drop soup. Put some rice in it. Salad too. Assorted deserts. I always end up coming back here whenever I'm in the mood for Chinese or a buffet. They have a buffet all day which is wonderful. They have a variety of food here and to me everything is either a huge hit or a miss. So try everything here and see what you like. Their cups are a little small, I wish they had a a larger size because it kinda gets annoying always having to refill your glass, but I mean, you have to get up and get more food too. But this is a very family friendly restaurant, the people who work here are amazing, and the food is good. So what more could a person ask for? read more

One of, if not the worst Chinese buffet I've ever been to. Fairly or not I judge a Chinese restaurant on its eggrolls. That you serve eggrolls that taste like they're from a grocery store freezer is disgusting. I'm not looking for immaculate eggrolls, but at least don't use the cheapest shit available. Beyond that I thought the buffet selection was very poor and the restaurant in general was filthy with food all over the floor and pools of grease in the bottom of the sweet and sour chicken pan. What used to be a pretty decent buffet has deteriorated sharply in the past two years. Cutting costs by using flimsy plastic utensils and styrofoam cups. Apparently cutting costs in the kitchen, too, because the food is over cooked and tasteless. Gravy, sauces and drinks are watered down. Too bad, because they used to be pretty decent. Here's what matters in a restaurant: the food. I give them five stars for delicious flavor, great balances of spice and sweet, amazingly fresh warm food every time. I downloaded Yelp just to give them five stars, honestly this is fantastic. The general's Tsos chicken is so crispy as sweet it could be a dessert. We will certainly be ordering takeout here on the regular. Just wow. Also, the interior is extremely authentic and cool looking. Very clean, owners are very nice people. Excellent! read more

I'm not a fan of leaving bad reviews but honestly this place was bad. Like most people I don't walk into a buffet style restaurant with expectations of a five star meal however I don't also walk into a place hoping to get food poisoning. The food was down right nasty. I don't drink soda , so upon drinking the water it had a sour fish taste to it. Which then i wasn't able to drink anything . I didn't even bother trying any of the treats or ice cream they had because I just wanted to leave. This place is a joke when it comes to cleanliness. There's no way this place deserves a low 2 1/2 stars rating. It's an older building with older booths and tables. We go here often and I've never, ever, felt it was dirty. It gets busy and they do a good job cleaning up. It's not the best Chinese food around but they offer a good variety of good food. They are constantly bringing out fresh food and wiping the buffet down. The staff are not super friendly but not rude. I don't often have a reason to interact with them much at all. I thank them when they clear our plates and that's about it. I suspect for some of them English is not their first language. Good fresh food, easy in and out dining at a decent price. Ok, obviously not the best place to go for Chinese food. Lets get that out of the way. But still... New China Buffet in Waukesha is a place I have frequented (well, 4 or 5 times a year, anyhow) for years now. The food, while not tip-top, is still very tasty. Lots of vegetable dishes, many different white/red meat choices, good showing of seafood, light fresh asian bakery, and sushi from time to time. Sriacha hot sauce at the tables to punch your meal with awesome spicy flare where needed, and a decently clean environment. This place only gets messy when careless rude guests leave it that way. But bus boys get to it quite hastily, and so that is the fault of the general clientele' and not the restaurant which, coincidentally, is the root of my only real complaint about the place. The restaurant is plagued by families that "haunt-and-demolish" certain food items the literal moment they are put out on the line. The crab legs, for example; don't plan on getting any unless you "haunt" that section as well. The families stay there for hours, watching that section like hawks, swooping in and greedily filling their plates over and over, emptying the bin CLEAN as soon as it is filled. Its RIDICULOUS to watch! They're shameless! And they leave a horrid mess of shell and in-edibles behind. It has always been this way. Nearly every time I've gone. Ha ha ha ha ha. Good thing I go to real seafood places when I'm hungry for crab I suppose. Buck up, and get that nose out of the air! Grab some buds on a Sunday afternoon after a hard night of drinking and join the ridiculous el-cheap-o masses at New China Buffet in Waukesha! Yes, its chinese food for the masses...if you come here you can't be expecting quality fine dining chinese food right? You come here for the greasy and delicious chinese food that'll leave you in a food coma for the rest of the day. Good selection of food...its not mostly cheap vegetables and breads that most buffets have. Good variety of meats, noodle dishes, dumplings, and a few out of place looking american foods. Unlimited soft drinks and coffee, and a decent selection of desserts including soft serve..yum! My only complaint is that they should get rid of their sushi selection. You can tell that its HORRIBLE quality. People can get sick from eating that junk. read more

I've never had plates left on the table for more than a few minutes. Food tastes better here than many others I've been too. Fresh fruit, salad, pizza for the kids. This place is TERRIBLE on all accounts. I have to say it's the most unclean restaurant I've ever been in. The whole restaurant is very dark and dingy, and not well-lit. The dining area was disgusting (food, stickiness, smeared glass in the buffet area, floor was gross and dirty, windows were smeared, booths weren't in good condition, the whole restaurant needed a thorough cleaning and updates). If they don't care about cleanliness where the customers are, you can only imagine what kind of unsanitary conditions exist in the kitchen where the food is prepared, which likely explains why my husband and I both got very sick after eating here. The plates at the buffet stations were all wet-like really wet and there were no napkins in the area to wipe them off before putting food on them, so I'm sure our plates were swimming in bacteria from the beginning. The bathrooms here were also disgusting and in desperate need of attention. Price is very high for the extremely low/almost inedible quality of food. We paid $12.50 each and definitely did not get our money's worth, as we had a hard time finding anything decent enough to eat. I'm usually a big fan of General Tso's chicken, but the "stuff" labeled that here definitely didn't taste like other General Tso chicken I've had and had an awful flavor. I couldn't even eat it. No orange chicken. No sesame chicken. So I tried the sweet & sour chicken. Again, no luck. I don't know what kind of "meat" was in the sweet & sour chicken but it didn't taste like chicken at all. The only decent things I found on the buffet were the green beans and crab rangoon. That doesn't say much. They did have a soft-serve ice cream machine, but no toppings. And if you want your ice cream in a bowl instead of a cone, you have to walk across the buffet area to get a bowl, instead of having any right next to the machine as would seem pretty logical. Soda is included with the buffet. They have one Coke soda machine with a bunch of small kid-sized plastic glasses next to it. The ice part of the machine wasn't working, so not only did you have to return to the soda machine (and wait in line forever when you do) for refills every two drinks of your soda because of the small glass, but forget about having any ice with it. Employees here were rude and unfriendly. No smiles, "excuse me"s at the buffet when they run into you, "please" or "thank you" when paying, etc. Having at least semi-friendly employees could have earned them another star and brightened our experience here a bit, but nope. I'd give zero stars if I could and definitely would not recommend. read more

I don't go into a Chinese buffet place with any real expectations, but this stuff is terrible, like wretched. The best thing on the buffet was the soda and the cookies that were still in the bulk wrapping they were received in. This place is also extremely pricey with mandatory gratuity which you have to pay up front before I even sat down. So I LOVE Asian cuisine of any sort, it's my favorite. I'm the person the finds greatness in the dollar scoops, and hole in the wall Chinese joints so when I say it's very hard to turn me against any Chinese food I absolutely mean it especially fried rice I love fried rice. This place it the worst place I have ever been to. They even screwed up fried rice it's awful. I felt bad for the clean up lady because she kept taking full plates of food from our table (I hate wasting food) the crawfish meat was dark brown in color. I really want to give another star for the nice staff, but the food was just that bad. If anyone has recommendations to me on a good place in the area please let me know.
