Hands down my favorite Chinese place of all time. Like stated in the previous reviews Happy Wok is…read moretotally underrated for their food and they deserve a lot more credit than they get. I've noticed a rule at most restaurants (from personal experience) that the more items on the menu the food tends to be of a lesser quality but this is no way true for Happy Wok!! They have so many options and for some it might be a bit daunting but you will always have something new to try. My favorite is the pork fried rice and although it isn't the most expansive dish on their menu they knock it out of the park. Not only does the rice have amazing flavors, they go out of this world in making sure it isn't over soy sauced and the beef is cooked perfectly. While Happy Wok has both takeout and delivery I always prefer to go for takeout. They also have a drive-thru. But the reason I go for takeout is because no matter what they always have a smile on their faces there. I have never once in my entire life of going to Happy Wok felt like I wasn't welcome or that my order wasn't as important as the others. If you are ever in DeKalb and want a quick, high-quality bite to eat you need to absolutely get over to Happy W

We were in Dixon and looking for a place with gluten free option, and we found Somkit!…read more When we walked in, there were many people enjoying lunch. We were shown a table away from the door as it was really cold that day, so the staff were quite considerate. There was also a sushi bar area. We opted for ordering from the menu which comes with appetizers. When inquired about gluten free options, the staff explained clearly what could be gluten free. When the food arrived, we were quite impressed that they do take allergen seriously. The put a gluten free indicator on the dish to make sure it was clearly marked. In term of the taste, they were delicious. I particularly like the soup, it was flavorful, and definitely good for a cold day! The portion of all the dishes were plentiful that we brought home some left over. Check out Somkit if you find yourself in Dixon.

This is a new place that just opened up. It is located in the old Pizza Hut location, which is…read morejust north of Jimmy Johns. They have changed up the appearance of the place - adding artwork in the building to tie it into the theme, and some curtains between the counter and the back area where the food is cooked. You walk in, look at the menu, make your order and pay. They will provide you with a pager so when you sit down, you know your food is ready. They will set off the pager and call your pager number out. They then had you a plastic bag or bags (depending on your order size) with your food, and you go back to your table. The bag had napkins, 1 fork and 2 sets of chopsticks in it. We found more of the same in the old buffet cart, which is just south of the drink dispenser. With the logistics handled, let's talk about the food. There is the Hibachi section, where they have Chicken, Steak, Shrimp, Salmon, Scallops, Vegetable and Filet Mignon, along with combinations of those. There is the Special Yatta section, which has combinations of Hibachi Chicken and California Roll, with a drink. There is a noodle combo section with all sorts of noddle combos, and then they have a respectable sushi section with 29 different rolls available in "basic", "Special" and "Traditional" varieties. So what did we have? We ordered the Hibachi Combo Fillet Mignon and Shrimp, along with 2 Special Rolls - Torch Salmon and Washington Roll. The Hibachi Fillet Mignon (sic) and Shrimp was good - it came with vegetables, rice (not chicken fried or pork fried, just fried which is fine with me) and then a good portion of both meats. This would be great for one person with an appetite. We shared it and the sushi. The Torch Salmon was heated with a torch - you can hear it when they start it up. It was a warm roll, and was quite good. The Washington Roll was also very tasty and was served chilled (not torched). Both sushi rolls came with ginger and wasabi. The wasabi was respectably hot, as expected. They also have appetizers on the menu. To help you out, I have included both sides of the menu in the photos. The drink machine is your typical 8 or 10 selection unit. The drinks tasted fine. This is a restaurant we need in Rochelle. It offers variety that is much needed. Give it a try!
