Found out about this Chinese restaurant in Rochelle that has a buffet. It looks pretty fucking weak…read morebut hey it's all you can eat. New China Buffet has a lot more than just Americanized versions of stuff. Actually has everything including pizza. The prices would be okay if it had better quality. Crappy looking inside but people aren't caring about it apparently. It's basically like a feast. You get as much as you want so put as much as possible on plates. A little better if variety than many buffets. It's $15 for adults at lunch. A bad thing is there's few vegetarian choices. The same few things we kept putting on our plates. Good if caring more about quantity, but make sure to use the bathroom before you leave. It's closed Mondays. The food here is mostly gross, but we actually liked a few things.

Entered and thought I was in China Town in Chicago or in China Town in San Francisco. Very quaint, very nicely decorated. Travelled quite a distance so decided to go all out. Started with a selection of appetizers ... eggs rolls, bbq pork, crab Rangoon and deep fried shrimp. Nothing stood out as special. Egg rolls were large but little flavor, pork was slices of pork loin in bbq sauce, other two items average at best. For entrees we ordered Pepper Steak, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Shrimp in Lobster Sauce and the special House Fried Rice. Portions were modest in size and lacked flavor. There didn't appear to be any garlic or ginger in the dishes but there was plenty of soy sauce. We expected a more flavorful meal. Service was friendly and modestly attentive. We ended the meal with almond cookies which were quite good. We were pleased to experience the 2nd oldest Chinese food restaurant in Wisconsin. Food 3, Service 4, Ambience 5: Average 4. Would not return.
