My husband and I tried this place last night and we were very impressed. Their menu was Sushi and Chinese food. We had sushi and it was amazing. The fish was fresh and tasted really really good. The presentation was the icing on the cake. I will post the picture of my food that came on a big boat. I am 1.5 hours from Freeport but come up often and will be stopping here again. I forgot to mention how clean this place is. After every table left they cleaned the floors, tables and even seats like every restaurant should do but normally dont. Good food, large portions, good service. Extremely small cafe (maybe seats 6-7 people). Kind of a Mom & Pop's place.

We have loved this restaurant for years as my daughter has transformed from vegetarian to vegan and they have always accommodated us. The sushi is really fresh and yummy and I love getting the veg fried rice w/ no egg. Easily the cheapest hot vegan meal for two in town. I think when we would get a cooked sushi roll, the non vegan daughter and I, we'd get the let it go roll with pink paper(daughters preference not mine). That was one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had and it's consistently amazing quality. Id give five stars but service is not always five star. Definitely a strong four though! read more

Can't judge a book by it's cover and cant judge decent sushi by other people's reviews or the appearance of the roll. We got 3 specialty rolls, the crazy roll, ocean roll, and dynamite roll. They were all well presented but the nori was terribly tough and chewy. Also the spicy tuna was kind of a mushy paste and very 'fishy' tasting. I was going to give this place 2 stars because the flavor combination was nice but the customer service, or lack thereof, Clinched the single . Our 'waitress' was watching tv the entire time after dropping off the sushi, never coming back to ask how it was, if we wanted anything else, or to give the check. The sushi chef was on his phone the whole time we were there except to take a break to make the rolls, and someone else was sitting at a table on their computer. We were the only customers. Someone from the kitchen finally came and gave us a check well after we had finished eating, yelled something incomprehensible at the people sitting around, who didn't even flinch, and then she never came back to get the check. We eventually took it up ourselves and no one said a word when we left. Not a goodnight, thanks for coming in, or even a nod. We've encountered bad service before but this takes the cake. First of all people, Mike B has it seriously wrong!He walks in ALONE, not with anybody like he says. Hes holding a book and immediately starts complaining to me, a life long customer. His attitude was bias. The lady at the counter is not rude, but very friendly. Not well trained? She's the owner! You would know that if you were there for more than 60 seconds. And no, you weren't seated because you were busy complaining to me and the place was full and again, you weren't in there a minute. There were no people he "overheard" because the closest table hadn't even ordered yet. Yes, a man did say he had ordered two egg rolls, to go with his house special fried rice. This is my first time here as I am visiting family in the area. Apparently this is a new location for them as two people commented that they didn't know they moved while I sat her and ate my lunch. The steamed dumplings were good and the shrimp lo mein was delicious. They made it extra spicy at my request. It was pretty and left me with tingling lips, an empty playe, and a full belly. Placed a large order with two orders of dumplings. Unfortunately the dipping sauce was not in order when I arrived home. Called to let them know and they said I could come back and pick them up, which I did. They added a order of crab ragoons for the trouble of having to go back with numerous apologies for the mistake. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant. My wife and I have been here twice together since moving here two weeks ago! This is our new date spot. My favorite food is stir fry seafood udon. Asia Cafe is such a well ran establishment. Family run and operated makes a it great welcoming feel and you can taste it in the food as well. Their dishes are authentic and portions are great sizes. Every time I'm back home my family loves going there, wether it's for lunch or dinner we always love our meal when we're there. Walking into this new restaurant the 3rd day after they opened, I expected something between China Buffet and Panda.. needless to say both of my assumptions where pleasantly completely incorrect. The service could use a little work but I gave them a break since they where still working out the kinks. The sushi was amazing and I loved the Red Dragon roll, Tekka Maki, and their Miso soup was also above par. I have been back several times since and the hostess and owner are so friendly I feel like i'm the only customer there. Very good value and taste fir the expenses. read more

Every bad thing about this restaurant hit us when we went there because ichiban was closed for 2 days. The customer in front of me did not get the correct order, the woman at the front desk was rude and obviously not well trained as a front person, and a couple eating within earshot were complaining to each other about the quality of the food. 2.5 stars really. It's strip mall Chinese in the middle of nowhere. Do the sauces taste more like gravy than sauce? Yeah. Is there basically no heat or spices? Yeah. But the meat was cooked properly, the service was timely, and it got us fed as we road tripped. When it was Panda, it was just a Chinese take-out joint with three tables but the food was decent. Now that they've moved and added Japanese, I can say that the sushi I've had was good. But last week I was hankering for one of my old favorites, Mongolian beef. Once I got it home and tasted it, I had to throw it out....gravy, not sauce...poorly spiced with no heat at all. Best Chinese food I've ever had. The service is excellent as well. The Asian woman that runs the place is so nice every time I go in. I have been to a lot of Chinese restaurants that have a Mexican guy in the back cooking Chinese food. That's fine but when I see an Asian guy in the kitchen and the waitress wrote out the ticket in Chinese you really feel like your getting something authentic. The store is also very clean. The location is nice. Chinese food is good. There new bento box missed the mark was expecting a traditional box but chicken was more onions then chicken. White rice and then they gave me ranch salad dressing. It was edible but there are better choices in town. read more

The food is as good as it was when it was located by US Cellular. But the prices are jacked up and the amount of food you get is smaller. The new location is nice, but we rarely eat in, so it don't really benefit us. Still think it is the best Asian food in Freeport. read more
