We've tried this place many, many times during the last few years and it is hit or miss with hot, quality food and service.

Over priced. Restaurant wasn't very clean. The two adults and a twelve and eight year old ate for almost $50.

    Fried Tomato Buffet

Easy to find, just off Atlanta Highway, plenty of praying spaces...I mean, parking spaces! We were…read morewelcomed by Destiny with a friendly hello, who quickly gave us a receipt and helped us get a reward card, which immediately gave us 5% back on the cost of our all-you-cash eat meal! We easily found a comfortable booth, and our server, Debby, quickly took our drink orders and we grabbed our plates and headed to the food bars. I had a helping of dressing, topped with a savory beef stew, and added sweet yams, fried green tomato slices, chicken-fried steak, and fried mushrooms. I also took the opportunity to try fried liver nuggets and fried gizzards (not bad at all!). Back at our table I found a large glass of cold sweet tea waiting for me (nicely brewed, extra sweet, just the way I like it!). It all tasted so good and full of southern comfort. I appreciated the friendly, frequent service of Debby. We've long been fans of buffet-style restaurants. We are newly-moved to Montgomery, and eager to find new eating places, and Fried Tomato Buffet has earned a spot on our prestigious, discerning list of favorites! We appreciated the words of wisdom and encouragement, the cleanliness, the service, the affordable price, the wide selection, the friendly welcome, and the free rewards club membership. Only one small caution: the entrance is an attractive, double-door entrance, but the right-hand door, as you approach the entrance is bolted shut, and the left-hand door opens outward only partially! It caught us by surprise...no sign or warning was posted on the outside to give us any warning! Upon entering we did see a sign posted on the inside, a notification that the door opens only "half way"! Maybe post a sign outside the door? Maybe modify the door hardware? However, Fried Green Tomato is a strong 4-point favorite for us. Thank you, Destiny and Debby, for helping to make our experience comfortable and enjoyable. We'll be back!

    Gabriella's - Meat and 3

My first time at Gabriella's was recently. This place gets really busy..... fast! When I arrived,…read more there were about 2 ppl already present and ordering at the hot bar. It's kind of hard to tell what all the food options are, so I had to ask what some stuff was. I managed to get a meat and 2 instead of a meat and 5! There were quite a few veggie options that looked amazingly delicious! I do not recommend coming here hungry or hangry. Ok, sooo I love meat loaf so naturally that's what I got. I also got collards and cornbread dressing & yes they had cranberry sauce. Everything was good tasting. The meatloaf was a little sweet to my taste so I probably wouldn't order it again. The veggies were not over seasoned or overcooked. I will definitely comeback here bc there is still just so much I wanna try. The staff is nice and took care of the crowd. I even witnessed them give a person in need food, as they were about to dig in the restaurant's garbage can outside for scraps. Made me count my blessings.. all of them! There is street parking only. I didn't have any issues parking on a Sunday afternoon. The inside of this restaurant is not big but I was comfortable dining in.

Couldn't tell from the Yelp pictures but…read moreit's a really small restaurant with food displayed buffet style behind the clear partition that they serve you in a container. Only about 3 people at a time can hold inside before it's starts getting crowded. It stay pretty busy. Options are 1 meat with two sides or 2 meats with three sides combination. A la cart is available as well. They have ice tea or lemonade drinks in a cup that they also serve you. Lemonade was good. There's a very small counter to pay after you order. Fry chicken is tasty with perfect crisp. Collard greens were seasoned well and perfect texture. Yams (my favorite) was perfect - flavorful, not too sweet and firm but not hard. Both of us thought the Black eyed peas looked really good but taste bland. I would have preferred it without the Okra. I didn't see that when I ordered. One in our group commented the meat loaf was good. The dressing was really good too - well seasoned and tasty. After paying there's a dining area for self seating. It serves the purpose to sit and eat but definitely could use sprucing up along with the restrooms. Please seriously consider! It would make the experience much more pleasant to enjoy their delicious food. I took off two stars for that reason and yes it's that unpleasant as the tables/chairs are also too clustered together. The chairs don't fit around the table properly. Overall good southern food at a reasonable price and recommended. Skip dining in if you don't have too. Just my two cents.

With all the trash talk about them, much of the world has a special affinity for these establishments nonetheless, whether it's a grand Las Vegas buffet brunch, an extravagant all you can eat feast in Dubai or a place like the King Buffet in Pelham, a countryside low cost, high volume spot to feed the masses of the blue collar class. King Buffet opened in 2023 in a space formerly occupied by Golden Corral. It's pleasantly renovated and as clean as an establishment can be for a buffet concept. There are all the classics here and a few nice extras, like crab. The seafood at King Buffet is plentiful, but to be fair, not particularly good. The crawfish are somehow extremely tasteless, not because they are not spiced, but they just don't taste like crawfish. That's something I've never encountered before. The coconut shrimp is subpar. Mongolian beef is very loosely reminiscent of beef. With that said, all the dishes are not bad either, they are just not great. Where King Buffet shines is the service, with extremely attentive wait staff and superb cleanliness that results from that. As a whole, it does justice to this category of food and there is absolutely no reason to pass by if craving a buffet style meal.

The highlight of this restaurant is definitely the Mongolian Grill (you choose from a bar of raw ingredients and they cook it up for you). Pretty much all the pre-done buffet meats were pretty dry and you could tell they had been sitting under a warmer for quite some time. The side dishes were good, but nothing that "knocked it out of the park". Service was good! The restaurant itself seemed pretty clean and the ambiance was pretty on par with that buffet places. Overall, we came here for the grill, not the pre-done stuff. It was just ok - nothing amazing, but nothing bad.
