This place is the absolute worst. They actually had some good employees and they fired them. Some…read moreof the people there were wonderful, but they are managed by Spring Hills and they only care about the bottom dollar. On many occasions they did not give my father his medication. They did not shower him as often as they said they would. His skin was always in horrible shape. My mother and I were there every other day, sometimes more and I think that's the only reason he got the level of care that he did. They never shaved him. They were understaffed all the time. They don't pour the water to them, so that was the start of my father's decline. When I confronted the asst manager about seeing my father's medical records after his death...it miraculously took 2 hours for him to produce that. We were told by a woman we trusted that the man was in the back editing it to show he had been given all his meds. The first huge red flag was they didn't give Jim his meds the first night there and my mother and I sat in the lobby for an hour trying to get someone to help us get dad his medication. Please don't go to this place or any Spring Hill facility, they don't care about your loved one, only the bottom dollar. You will constantly have staff turnover and never any answers! Oh, and the literal nail in my father's coffin... they didn't call me when they sent him out (his final ride on EMS) to the ER. A nurse that loves Dad texted me asking how he was and I said "I don't know, you're with him". She said "no they took him out last night". I asked where and THEY HAD NO RECORD OF WHICH HOSPITAL!!! So, my father with dementia was brought in with no medical records, no nothing and had been sitting not able to breath and on a CPAP for 8 hrs alone when I was only 30 minutes away! I got there as soon as I found out. We spent the next 30 hours at his beside with him as he died from pneumonia, sepsis, and a heart attack. And we never heard from the director of the facility so much as an "I'm sorry for your loss". We were told we would get our refund in 45 days... it was 4 months later. Awful humans.

The proposed solution was to hire private-pay nursing, around the clock, which increased care costs tremendously! Moving into Poet's Walk brought about an immediate improvement! The medical team is alert and engaged. Within days, a speech therapist identified swallowing problems and made recommendations to modify her diet. Physical therapists identified diminished core strength and adjusted her care plan accordingly. The nursing team is alert and engaged, bringing us peace and lifting tremendous worry! Gibran Chambers is a "hands-on" Executive Director and he can be seen interacting with both residents and staff throughout the facility! Marvin Smith, Lauren Urbanek, and Kelsey Lang are the reasons we selected Poet's Walk--they responded correctly to the myriad of questions we asked. Further, they went above-and-beyond, working long hours to insure a comfortable and joyful transition between facilities. We can't say enough good things about our experience!

We reported this incident immediately to HC. Alice, the owner contacted me and asked me to pay for the medical check using our homeowners policy. Are you kidding me, this was completely inappropriate - as they inspected our property before coming out and we were not the caregivers employer. We were losing our father and we were in no way financially responsible for this incident nor could we handle this kind of issue while facing the death of our father. I would definitely not recommend this company. I have been a healthcare administrator for over 30 years - and knew the procedures for employee incidents. This was so heartbreaking to have Alice to attempt to get us involved. I would not call this Heavenly Care........

After a very extensive search of the available facilities in the Leander and North Austin area, with visits to many of them, it was clear to us that Riva Ridge was by far the best choice. Given its small size, at the time of our interest there were no available rooms, so we asked to be put on the waiting list. The wait was well worth it. After moving there, our mother in a short period of time became accustomed to her new surroundings and the homey environment of the place, which is in stark contrast to the crowded-hospital feel of many facilities. Ken Missler is a hands-on owner of the place, and he and his staff are caring and compassionate while maintaining their professionalism in the day-to-day care. The range of residents' issues and capabilities is wide, and the staff engage the residents in games and art, etc., to the extent of the residents' capabilities. Visitation is essentially unlimited, though it was limited for a time during the pandemic in accordance with statewide COVID restrictions. The availability of both assisted living and memory care, performed in adjacent buildings, along with the availability of hospice care, are useful combined features of the facility that are not commonly found elsewhere. My very favorably view of Riva Ridge has been corroborated by others. My wife, as part of her church's visitation outreach to home-bound seniors, has visited many assisted living places in Leander and Austin. None has come close to the homey and comfortable environment of Riva Ridge. Once, when I was visiting my mother at Riva Ridge, I met a former nurse who was looking for a facility for her disabled husband, after removing him from another assisted living place that was not adequately caring for him. Having experience in these matters, given her occupation, and having looked at several possibilities, she told me she was very impressed with Riva Ridge and wanted to place her husband there as soon as possible. Our mother was at Riva Ridge for two and a half years as her health declined, the last six months in hospice care before she passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was taken care of, looked after, engaged with friendly and caring people. I thank Ken and his staff for taking such good care of her, and I unreservedly recommend Riva Ridge to others who need to find a place for their loved ones that require compassionate, professional care.

My mother was 98 years old, had dementia and was no longer able to live with us. We selected Precious because of their smaller size and more personal care. We found the entire stall to be very helpful and caring, Rita was always available if we needed to talk to her. My mother was always kept clean and if she did not feel like eating at the table with the others, they would bring her food to her in her room and she could set in her chair and eat from her tray. I saw Dr. Cori for a handful of times, if that, and after being told that I "need to stop thinking of my body as a problem, something that needed to be fixed and focus on something else", I decided to stop going. First of all, What??! Are you kidding me? I agreed to pay you, Dr. Cori, $75.00 to help me get out of pain by "aligning" what needs to be aligned, so telling me to stop trying to fix my body as though I don't have anything wrong with it is unbelievably offensive. Then you had the unmitigated gall to state that I am the one perpetuating my own pain by holding on to negative emotions. Way to victimize your patients, Dr. Cori. You should know that anyone who is dealing with chronic pain is being emotionally beaten down every second of the day, so you telling someone that is actually quite abusive. On a side note, I thought it was very unprofessional of her to tell me to buy her friend's program, Mama Strong, because it would help me, or when she referred me to a retreat that I later Googled to find out she is the chiropractor for the retreat. All of these things really make me question if she understands the body, trigger points or even pain. She seems to think it is all generated from the mind. After leaving Dr.Cori's "expertise" and seeking help elsewhere, where I had x-rays, and scans done on my cervical spine, I was diagnosed with a fracture in my c-3, a bulging disc, facet joint syndrome, and arthritis. Apparently, these diagnoses cause pain, and for me extreme muscle spasms. Hmmm. I guess you were right, Dr. Cori. I was causing my own pain, and just needed to stop "holding on". Now that I have actually had proper medical care, my chronic pain is being effectively managed; what a relief. Full disclosure: I decided I should write this review as a way to release the negative emotions experienced under Dr. Cori's care, you know, as way to re-balance my Chi and "let go".

The common areas have wood floors and less clutter than other communities. I felt my father was safe. My father enjoyed being able to enjoy the out side on his own with access to their courtyard. Not all communities are set up where your loved ones can enjoy outdoors when they want to. The Facility Manager was very helpful in helping set up my fathers room as well as hanging pictures. Since my father was an engineer, the Facilities Manager took the time to have many great conversations with my father. It is great that Aria is dedicated to Memory Care. They know how to take care of all levels. The separation of cognitive and non cognitive guests is priceless. My father was able to have conversations with other guests with similar challenges. Having a loved one in a home is all ways difficult but when you arrive at Aria you really do not feel you are in a nursing home. It helped me when I was visiting my father. Last but not least the Executive Director Ceri Mackenzie is there for you and your loved ones 24 hours. I have seen this first hand. She was there for helping me manage my fathers needs. Her experience and knowledge comes in handy as anything can happen any time when you are taking care of our elders. The team reacts positively to Ceri's experience and enthusiasm. To sum it up, Aria is a gem in senior community. It offers clean, safe, easy to navigate common area floor plan, spacious individual units and a lovely courtyard to enhance for my father's daily experience. I chose Aria because the staff were all very caring friendly, the facility is very clean and modern, and the apartment/room was a nice size and well laid out to match, as closely as possible, my Dad's bedroom at home. My Dad has only been there 2 months but I still feel very confident I have made the right decision with Aria. Ceri Mackenzie is the medical director and she is very patient with the family and also with our Dad. She is knowledgeable and shares that knowledge to make us more comfortable with the transition. The nursing staff and aides have all been very friendly to Dad - especially Kristin, Melissa, Brandon and Jeannette - but they have all been wonderful.
