This goes back to the management of this facility who's only goal is to provide prison quality care. The things I saw and experienced while my mom was here are frightening. I saw unattended elderly patients left on the floor as they slid out of their wheelchairs. They have what appears to be VERY FEW staff members overnight, leaving patients that require round the clock care neglected. They allowed my quadriplegic mother to fall out of her bed twice, sending her to the hospital for brain scans. It was often unclear who was "in charge". The support from the social worker was nearly nonexistent. My wife filed a complaint with the state. I would urge anyone considering this facility to find another. The last straw was when we called to ask about my mother's status and one of the nurses responded "I don't have time for this shit!". We are at Westminster on MoPac now, which seems a million times more professional. I don't know where all the money the families and insurance companies pay is going to, but very little is flowing back to the facility. Most is likely going to the high net worth investors that make up the ownership of Juniper Village as part of its real estate "portfolio". If the thought of your loved one silently lying on the floor, ignored and abandoned like my mother was, wondering when someone would discover her after she bashed her head in on the night stand due to an improperly configured hospital bed fills you with dread AVOID JUNIPER!

I found myself with the same concerns fairly recently. My mother needed additional care I could not provide so i began the evaluation process for assisted living options. After an extensive search, I identified Juniper at Spicewood Summit as the ideal home away from home for her. I wanted a warm and welcoming community with quality care, and committed professionals who would value and nurture her. I was surprised at how protective I became of her and that I did not want to trust just anyone with that care. Fortunately for me, Juniper at Spicewood Summit has lived up to my expectations and more. As a result, my mother has experienced a new chapter in her life, and it is stimulating and fun! She enjoys the nutritional meals and gracious dining and never misses a washing a dish or cleaning the table. Her days are filled with a variety of activities by the creative Connections Director. There are opportunities for music, gardening, exercise, special performances from the community, guest speakers, games, holiday celebrations, parties, and spiritual encouragement. Everyday is a day to celebrate at Juniper. Best of all she does this with her colleagues at the facility. My mother has developed a new hobby, leather crafting, and she is over 100! It is never too late to explore new things at Juniper! Because of the medical team, the caring staff, and the leadership of the administration, I know my mother is in the best place I can find for her. Best of all, I am always welcome and greeted with warm hospitality when I visit her. In fact, I am there almost everyday so I see the consistent effort everyone makes to keep the quality of care at the highest level. It is comforting to know she is happy and well cared for, and I wish the same for your loved one. I wish you every success as you identify the perfect place for your beloved family member. 12/30/2021- My father was transferred here after contracting covid 19 to quarantine. He arrived on…read morea Thursday afternoon. It wasn't until 18 hours later that I was able to get in touch with him. The staff never gave him his personal cell phone, nor did they answer their phones at the facility. Trying to get in touch with anyone there was impossible after MANY MANY attempts. When I did talk to someone I was told "everyone was off due to the holiday". It wasn't until receiving a text the following Monday 1/3/2022 asking to sign admission paperwork for the transfer, I did actually speak to someone for longer than 1 minute. At that time I asked for a update and strongly voice my frustrations. My reply in text was enough to actually receive a phone call from someone. At that time is where I voiced my concerns about the lack of administration, communication, and it being impossible to reach anyone there. Heaven forbid there be an emergency on my end, or on his. I'm almost certain I wouldn't be able to get through, or even receive a call if something happened to him. I will say after voicing my concerns things got slightly better. But that was still after multiple attempts. Today my dad returned back to his initial facility. Upon his arrival the nurses, and wound care did a full evaluation, and documentation on my dad. He has bruising all over both arms (possibly due to blood work, yet he has a picc line), a fungal infection under his arm pits, and groin area, they noticed what looked to be bed sores on his back, bottom, and heels of his feet from not transitioning him, or offloading his weight during his stay. He literally was in bed and the same position for 10 days straight from the sounds of the report I got this evening 1/10/2022. The wound care he was receiving from an amputation was larger upon his return, than it was when he left only ten days earlier. Due to being a covid patient, I was unable to visit, and relied on him answering his phone to get any sort of updates. If your loved one doesn't have a cell phone, do NOT plan on any communication! Make sure it's plugged in and kept charging. AT ALL TIMES! PLEASE if you send a family member here, make sure to be there as much as you possibly can be!!! I'm sure if something did happen you'd never hear about it from anyone. From what I've experienced these last 10 days I wouldn't recommend having anyone stay at Legend Oaks North Austin. Maybe things would have been different if I was able to be there daily. But given him being covid positive no one was able to enter the 300 hall staff included, nor send me to the nurses station phone "because they don't have one in that hall". Keep researching!!!

Dr. Woods from the South location adjusted my neck while it was still inflamed only two days after a rear end auto accident Dec '24. I opted to stay with Hays since then since he was less gung ho with his adjustments. The one technique I did like and get benefit from from Dr Woods holding my head, his hands shook so much, it felt very unstable and ineffective. Fast forward to Hays. This past year, I've given him the benefit of the doubt because I had no issue with him personally and the treatments themselves were effective but, this doesn't excuse his personal jabs and remarks towards me. He's commented about me not wearing underwear, made fun of my see through waist purse calling it a 'festival bag' before bringing me back for treatment and, I wish it stopped there. I had strain in my right arm from moving and a massage. He starts wringing up my arm from the wrist and when it was one pass too many near my elbow (he wrung my extensor origins by the elbows 3 times) the third time it was turning red and hurt so I pulled away saying "that's too much". There was a tech sitting by watching. His hand stayed on my arm and he didn't exactly stop pressure right away but, his knee jerk reaction was to ask me "are things ok at home"? I had to do a double take and ask "what"? He asked out in the open if anyone was grabbing me and this was a safe place here. I told him he was way out of line and expressed my willingness to leave if he wouldn't treat my wrist. He doubles down and inspected my arm for bruises saying "that looks like a bruise" on the top of my forearm (where there was none, as you can see in the photo). This is after I already explained to him I just moved and bruise easily. He goes on to talk about a past client who had been through "trauma and abuse" and that he always asks to touch since that client. He pulls me to a separate treatment room, apologizes, and further explains the how the past trauma client is his reason for being so cautious about touch. I accepted the apology and thanked him for clearing the air and that I still needed treatment on my neck. He told me HE WAS NOT "charging for today". He was rude while adjusting my neck. He didn't adjust my wrist and showed me the widget instead even though I told him it was cramping saying, it was a ligament that popped. I was shown how to adjust my own shoulder but, it was rushed. He mentioned a free cold laser treatment for my wrist. As we got to the front, he asks for my sheet and I wait. Alejandra asks how I want to pay and I explained he was waiving this visit and to check with him. She came back saying that only the laser treatment was free. I asked how long it was and she said 15-20 minutes. I told her I could do 15. I only got 8 minutes with the tech. The tech had me hold the laser and I could see the timer but, the laser was also very heavy. Dr. Casey Hays has some deep psychological issues regarding a past client and touch. I recall him asking to touch in past visits and, I even tried putting the onus on me saying my pecs were sensitive and not to touch them (because he did use too much pressure that hurt on the pecs) but, getting the help I need should NOT require going through psychological hoops, left field personal jabs and confusing checkouts. Dr. Hays: you look like you sleep under a bridge. Get help and stop projecting onto patients!

I needed care over the course of two months, and on top of seeing noticeable changes within the first two weeks because of the attention to care and exercises, I began feeling difference in my daily headaches, stiff neck, whiplash, upper and lower back pain and neck pain, and my hunching over. The entire team's dedication to care meant a lot to me. I felt hindered in multiple aspects of my life when I was injured, am finally getting back to an active lifestyle, & now have the tools I need moving forward to carry in my pocket that I learned from this team. No one ever expects an accident, & sometimes you may not know how to move forward from it. I am so thankful to Dr. Hayes and his entire team, my life genuinely has improved significantly. I couldn't thank them enough. (Dr. Haye's, Auja, Dr. Dimeko, Essence, the lovely kind Front Desk receptionists, were all fantastic and made me feel at home.) Over the year and a half with Amedisys Hospice, several nurses cared for mom Lauren, Laura, and Kaela. Even though nurses changed, quality of service never did. Mom felt comfortable with each of them because of their care. Their Social Worker Darcie, was always on top of any support or needs Mom had. Their on-call nurses Yvonne and Brittany who covered through the night and weekends always kept me informed of anything that occurred. I highly recommend this Hospice team to anyone who is needing care for end of life issues.

It's been about a year since Mom died, so this review is a bit dated, but I thought it was…read moreimportant. I just couldn't write it before now. Heartland wasn't a perfect match for Mom, but it was a great match. I checked Mom in based on prior reviews, so I had high expectations. There were some bumps along the way, but I was really impressed with how dedicated the people were to meeting Mom's needs, making her comfortable, and resolving any issues that came up. Mom spent about three months at Heartland paid for by Medicare as rehab and about three months self-pay in their nursing care. It's all the same care, it's just a matter of who is paying. She spent a week on their assisted living floor trying to live independently, but it just didn't work. What I was struck by, at all levels, was how approachable everyone was. From the aides to the administrator, everyone was there for Mom and for our family. I wish I could name each of their names (I have them all written down here somewhere), but I'd miss someone important and I don't want to do that. More than anything else, Mom wanted to get back to her apartment at her old assisted living center, but Heartland took much better care of her and she was just too ill to return to her old lifestyle. Ultimately, Mom died at Heartland. I could wish for a better ending to her story, but not a better ending to her life. She died comfortably, loved, and well taken care of. Thank you Heartland and each of you who worked with Mom. I would have no hesitation recommending Heartland. Visit for yourself. The building is a bit worn, but the staff are wonderful, organized, and they react quickly to the needs of their patients and residents.
